This thread is alive again!
It has been a great week for Bitcoin.  Smiley

It has indeed. I suspect it will be an even greater summer. Lots of good news out there.

Atlas, I miss that kid... where is he? Living on his private island?
I'm very disappointmed. I moved to Austin last fall and I've never seen Atlas even once.

http://astrohacker.com/ahc/bitcoin-is-the-economic-singularity/

After reading this, the scale of black market and digital economies and the effect Bitcoin will have on them I am pretty certain we are going to be very wealthy men -- even with a sum as small as 10 Bitcoins. It's just so hard to believe. We are only in the beginning storms with these significant rallies from 10 to 20 dollars. I will not be surprised to see prices from hundreds to thousands in the coming months.

The world just isn't going to be the same and we have been blessed as the pioneers.

What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop?

From any perspective, you cannot live in a singularity.
The initial article was probably correct about converting cash into bitcoin in 2011, but this cannot work to the same extent going forward.

I just bought a 10 bitcoin laptop so that I could read this thread from my yacht.

After I post this message I will toss it into the water to see what kind of bubbles it makes.

I'm not sure if you've read the story about Steve Jobs.  He had a Mercedes Benz 550 AMG that he drove around without a license plate.  His trick was that when you bought a car, you got a small temporary tag to go in the front window which was good for 6 months (3 months since 2012) even though a real plate was mailed within 30 days.  So he traded his car in for a new one before the 6 months was up.

It wasn't every day, but...

Everyone is waiting for a huge increase in price within 6months; I think it will come within two years but it depends on a lot of factors including when the USD and US&European financial systems will crash

And it is written in the Book of Satoshi that when this thread gets bumped, an age (less than a year) of massive value increase has begun.

Well I'd mostly stopped posting in this vast wasteland but maybe I'll start bumping this thread every day for perversity's sake.  Cool

Everyone is waiting for a huge increase in price within 6months; I think it will come within two years but it depends on a lot of factors including when the USD and US&European financial systems will crash

Like I've stated before, it moves in cycles of about seven months, and the end of June should be seven months from the top of the latest bump. So my guess is that we are now seeing the beginning of the coming bump.

And I don't think there is an imminent crash of the current economic system.

I think you're right, and I'm also pretty sure that a catastrophic economic collapse would be bad for Bitcoin and its value at this point in time. We need much more development before this baby is shatterproof.

What of the liquid instruments would gain in value then? You must know that immovable property loses its value in times of turmoil, so at least some form of money must gain in relative value. What could it be? fiat? stocks? gold?

Pretty much this. It will depend on the state of w/e worldwide common access communication network available though. Bitcoin doesn't explicitly require the internet, but it loses so much utility without it.

The internet is designed to survive nuclear wars, although not necessarily as a single connected network.

At the time of the OP for this thread most of the BTC holders had mined their BTC rather that bought them.  Most of the BTC had been mined with GPUs up to that time.  1 BTC exchanged for $10-$20.

Well.... I have a feeling that right now this might be the last chance for everyone to buy Bitcoins below the $1,000 mark. The Mt Gox effect is fading away, and the BitPay / Xapo news will propel BTC to new heights.
