After reading this, the scale of black market and digital economies and the effect Bitcoin will have on them I am pretty certain we are going to be very wealthy men -- even with a sum as small as 10 Bitcoins. It's just so hard to believe. We are only in the beginning storms with these significant rallies from 10 to 20 dollars. I will not be surprised to see prices from hundreds to thousands in the coming months.

The world just isn't going to be the same and we have been blessed as the pioneers.

What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop?

May i ask how you make your name or bitcointalk id looks like that ?

Totally OT, but funny.
Open Google translate, write ......... and translate from japanese to your language and hit the speaker icon.

Demokrati: Två vargar och ett lamm röstar om lunchmenyn.      Democracy: Two wolfes and a lamb votes about the lunch menu.

The funny thing is the sound, not the translation, listen to the japanese voice.

I guess time will tell.  ;-)   In an ideal world, 2014 will lead to lots of adoption, the W-Twins ETF launching, and consequent price increases, but I'm not counting on anything.

This is a very good attitude IMHO.  It is the only reason Bitcoin has worked out as well for me financially as it did.  I convinced myself that every dime I put in was probably be a total loss.  I set my plans from the get go to take certain actions at 10x and 100x markers (leaving ones above that undefined) and because I had already kissed the money goodbye I never was under any significant pressure either cut my losses or bail early.  When I get a dream that I don't want to lose, I take the money needed first rather than getting forced into a situation of choosing between a forced sell or giving up on a real-world activity.  Also, the precise nature of the tax implications are not yet well defined.

In my mind it is more likely that we go 10x from $600 than it was that we go 10x from $6.00 back in the day.  That said, in my mind I continue to consider it more likely than not that we DON'T see $6000.  If we do that would be awesome of course, but it's not something I count on or count on being able to capitalize on even if it does happen.  A variety of things could go wrong.  I just try to imagine what they might be an how I would react to them.

We need a lot of confidence to beleave it now.

The thing is that it keeps being repeated at least since US dollar parity - "its a bubble, it won't last, correction incoming, it will never be as high as $10/$3/$1/$266/$1200/$0.10 again."  IF bitcoin succeeds the price will be huge - it is something if a binary proposition either lots of success meaning very high price or poof.  Given Silicon Valley and Wall Street's endorsements via investment, bitcoin's success becomes more likely each day.

I firmly believe that bitcoin's success is inevitable at this point.   I just think that it is on a longer time frame than most people expect and hope...

I guess time will tell.  ;-)   In an ideal world, 2014 will lead to lots of adoption, the W-Twins ETF launching, and consequent price increases, but I'm not counting on anything.
Winklevoss lawyer said that the ETF is 99.9% not going to happen this year, sadly.  2015 is probably a good target date though.

I'm actually betting that Paypal will implement Bitcoin this year.

Given their stance on chargebacks, and protecting both buyers and sellers, implementing bitcoin may be a lot more difficult than it seems with the platform that they currently have...

They may do something along the lines of requiring sellers to keep a balance on-hand equivalent to X% of their sales over the last 90 days.  That percentage could fluctuate depending on the seller's history and reputation.

That is actually a great idea, they should implement that strategy anyways IMO

I agree, Bitcoin has so much potential its ridiculous. As soon as the cartels, catch on to Bitcoin it will add 100's of millions into the Bitcoin economy. Think about it, Columbia cocaine producers get a payment of bitcoins from mexico, no need to try and smuggle money through mexico into columbia.

Colombian cocaine producers are not what most of us are thinking when it comes to mainstream adoption...lol

the growth will only be fueled by the adoption of bitcoin and businesses being opened with bitcoin, so with this said, it is a community effort to get everyone involved and be a part of the economy. We need more businesses and less speculators.

annnnd nope

thats just retail loose change

try backbone current for growth, oh and speculators are good....

While I share the belief that bitcoin or something very like it will play a major role in the future, I think the road there is going to be a lot rougher.

I imagine we will see a huge boom then a bust, after that those who stick around will build the meaning full economy that will allow bitcoin or its successor to dominate.

I don't care about the busts. I am riding this pig wherever it takes me. If it tanks, I'll have a helluva story to tell. I'm sick of half measures. I'm swinging for the fences and If I strike out, so be it.  I won't be some mediocre drone living a life of quiet desperation. I believe in bitcoin and I'm going for broke, knowing the risks.

I like this attitude. Why would I want some stupid 2 thousand dollars in a bank just getting robbed by bankers?
I used to do shares before, made 3% a year. Now I make 2000% a year.

And the fact that ultimately such large amounts of bitcoin transfers would still be traceable by governments.  Sure, it is nice to have 10,000 coins, but how is a third world drug lord going to cash those out, and what store will he spend it at?  Ultimately cash, while bulky is much more anonymous and easy to spend.  Now, in 20 years, maybe it will be a different story, maybe even 5.
