Issue: RESOLVED

I want to state that the Bitcoin employees came through and fixed my friend's problem.  His coins are now in his wallet after a harrowing 3 day ordeal.   Also-  ALL of my 4 transactions with Bitinstant have gone without a hitch.  Good luck to those still in limbo- most of your issues will probably be addressed IMO. 

As to the theory that they are paying for back orders with the new money rolling in... there's no way to know.  It seems unlikely though, given that all of my orders went through instantly. 

Let's all cool our jets a bit and stay positive about this incredible little experiment.

This is laughable. No reply from bitinstant "live support" which is a joke because live implies a reply within a few minutes, tops. No reply to my email. It has been 2 full days since I made a cash payment at Walmart and got the email from zipzap that it was successful.  Unfortunately, since I initiated the transaction directly from my Blockchain.info wallet, I apparently only had one chance to record or save my orderID and I didn't do that. I figured it would come in an email or I wouldn't even need it, based on the false claims that bitinstant is the fastest way to turn cash to btc. 

If it helps here are some relevant details from the zipzap conformation email.

Amount to Pay: $253.95
Account Number: 670731165

Your ZipZap payment has been successfully processed and the merchant has been notified to complete your order. Please keep this email for your records.

What is being done to make things right? Not only has the value of btc fluctuated wildly, I have also paid 4.49% in fees to ensure timely delivery that is nearly 2 full days late. Normally its not a big deal, except I did business with you based on speed and that's why I'm paying you 4.49% in fees. Also all of the time I have spent (wasted) trying to coax a response out of anyone involved which should not happen.

Apparently even writers from New York Magazine get the BitInstant shuffle - http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/04/i-bought-a-bitcoin.html

At the time he ordered, BitInstant only had $16.48 to process his $140 transaction (and countless other transactions for that day) and thus could not transfer his money to him:

APIResponse: {"error": {"amount": ["You have only $16.48 available. Check your account balance for details."]}}. That means Bitinstant - as in the whole service that you are all depending on - couldn't afford a large pizza with all of the money it had on Wednesday.  This is the situation into which you are sending your money when you deal with Bitinstant.

The reporter wrote: "...I spent the rest of yesterday wondering if I'd been scammed.... Shouldn't my Bitcoin have arrived by now?"

How freaking embarrassing is stuff like this for the Bitcoin community (and costly in terms of scaring away new demand) that even our "biggest" players can't get their act together.  I wonder what he would have written if he saw this thread.

Sorry for the lack of updates and replies everyone.

I took in so much info at the office and I'm desperately trying to get up to speed with BitInstant procedures so I can effectively help shut down some of these issues.

I'm going into the office once again this morning and I should be there all day trying to integrate and work with the team.  It will be much easier for me to ask questions as they arise from the office.

I'll also be putting in some work on the weekend to see that we start resolving more issues, faster.

Again...thanks for your patience and bear with us while we ramp up and try to handle this ever increasing volume.

So you obviously realized to redact the Mt. Gox coupon code in the APIResponse field, did you not try to redeem this code on Mt. Gox? You either didn't realize it was a code but redacted it for some reason anyways, realized it was a code and didn't try it, or you tried it and it just didn't work?

That's great but what is going to be done for those of us waiting 1, 2, 3+ days and still no Bitcoins? We paid fees around 3.99% for what? What price will we get on our coins?

OK. I just got an email reply back from Charlie (Yankee). He said that my issue would be resolved today, and that PayPal orders are delayed at the moment. It remains to be seen whether or not I will actually receive my funds today, but the fact that he did get back to me is a small sign of encouragement.
