Hello Sunerok and dev team,
I have a question about the TOR and I2P web wallets.
How does ownership work with these wallets? I mean: does using these online wallets mean that the holder is still absolute owner of the coins?
Please give insight on this. Thanks.

yes, we have no way of accessing user's coins. the seedphrase gives ownership to them. (it can be converted into a privatekey using a tool, https://vergecurrency.com/seedphrase/ )

Thanks. I mean the TOR web wallet at http://vcmlfg3fgsmy2teu.onion/.
Anyway, I guess this wallet, even if a TOR based one, should not be used because you don't really own your coins by using it. Is it correct?

yes that is correct, no web wallet should ever be used for long term storage. just like an exchange. temporary holding only. never ever keep your coins somewhere that you dont have the privatekey/seedphrase.

the tor and i2p web wallets are owned by the verge development team, but, they are not recommended for long term storage, by any means.

Which wallets do you recommend? Will you release an iOS soon?

Hiding the IPs using TOR seems to be interesting, but what about the privacy features Dash and Monero etc have? If XVG makes something like Dash's   transfers  "mixed" using the masternodes, it should be #1 from all the privacy-oriented coins IMO

Also you have better acceptance for commercial use, which will really push the price upwards.

This creates centralization, thus why not added. Having a searchable blockchain provides additional benefits mixing negates.

Mixing option or smth like that, if it's not the only way to transfer would be a killer feature IMO. No one obliges you using it...

we are starting to work on an iOS solution that will include tor as well.

Hey so I was the one complaining about the slow "standard" windows wallet. I decided to try the Electrum wallet but I can't get it to work, it says Offline and I don't know if it is possible to use "addnode" like the core wallet?
Do I need to use another external program to use this wallet? There is very little information about how to use it.

which electrum wallet? i2p, tor, or clearnet?

Is Electrum wallet a safe place for us to put our coins in and forget about it? Also, is there a video somewhere about setting up an Electrum wallet?

yes it is. electrum gives you a seedphrase which can be converted into a private key, same as the android tor wallet =]

no video, yet, but soon. its very easy/intuitive though. if you have questions feel free to ask them here

Just a quick guess:  Do you have the Tor setup working?   (IE: tor browser open) with that open, the electrum connects instantly syncs.  (i did the same thing at first lol)

Hello VERGE Community,

i am from Germany and i am now about 1 year with the Crypto World busy  Cool

This coin is so extremely undervalued and underestimated at the moment.

VERGE is much more valuable and has much more to gain in value.

But soon this will change. That's for sure  Wink

Nice Greetings from Germany

@Dev _ Thanks for the good hard work

The one from https://vergecurrency.com/#wallets that says "Verge Windows Electrum Wallet"...

should work just fine, you dont need to change anything

Sorry but they are lost  Undecided

What do you mean they are lost? So Verge dev team just decide to remove the website without getting the user's funds back?

no, the server itself's hosting expired. (it came with 1 year, but apparently stayed online for about 15 months) i wrote the hosting company a few weeks ago and asked them if there was anything i could do, but they said they couldnt help because it wasnt mine to begin with.

we did announce a long time ago that the server wasn't going to be around much longer, but honestly, web wallets are never intended for long term storage. for long term storage, you want a wallet that you own the coins on, like electrum, core, android, etc..
