lolll nothing work :@ my password dont work on putty arwwww

i have days like that too Wink … they pass …

best to post questions publicly here as there are lots of knowledgable people on this forum who can help.

as far as debugging procedures go, you want make sure that your Titan can talk to your pool, that bfgminer is running, that you have your pool config'd correctly (which it sounds like you have), and that the data in /config/advanced.conf looks correct (your advanced page) etc. after that, its anybody's guess ...

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Thanks to notthematrix and teslaman for their earlier posts about how to re-flash my Neptune controller.

I used a recovery SD to flash to RC6. Should I now upgrade to 1.06s?

What is the difference between RC6 and 1.06s? Is RC6 the initial version of the firmware (I seem to remember seeing RC6 when I first got my Neptune, before they came out with 1.00).

Run a Bitcoin node, support the network.

For 2 x 860 watt psu on Seasonic is only about $40 diff and

2 x 1000 watt EVGA about $40-80 premium platinum over gold.

Average plat 860 watt at .16 kw/hr would save about $35 per year each over gold on 240v and $25 on 115v  (Pushing 90-100% load mining)

Hmm, I get different numbers than that. The power cost in your area is a big factor though. Here's how I break it down, see if it makes sense. Smiley

For Neptune, average power is 1,950W, so recommended PSUs are 3 x 850W, or 2 x 1,200W. I prefer 2 PSUs, since it cuts down on components, cables, outlets, wiring, etc. For example, I can power 3 Neptune miners with 5 EVGA 1300W G2s, vs needing 8 850/860W PSUs.

On pricing, the EVGA 1300W Gold is currently $161.37, or $322.74 for 2. The Seasonic 860W Platinum is currently $169.99, or $509.97 for 3. A difference of $187.23.

Now, with 3 Cubes on 1 EVGA, or, 2 Cubes on 1 Seasonic, you're getting about the same load of 69-70%. That should be getting something like 90% efficiency on Gold and about 92% on Platinum using 220/240V. On 1,950W, that's 39W difference, x 24 hours, x 30 days = 28.08KW/h. I get between .11c and .12c per KW/h, lets say .115c on average, so that's $3.23 more per month for a Gold PSU, or $38.76 per year.

Divide the difference of $187.23 by $38.76 and it would take around 4 years 10 months for the Gold to use that much more in electricity. Wink

Going with 2 x 1,000W EVGA Platinums would be 90% load, which I wouldn't want to do really...more heat, more component strain, etc. That would cost over $66 more for 2, plus the higher load would bring your efficiency down to around the same as the 1,300W Golds, with maybe 1% better on the Platinum. 1% would be about $19.38 a year in savings, or about 3 years 5 months to use $66 worth of electricity on Gold.

All that said, it's not a ton of money we're talking about here, so some people will just go for the better efficiency regardless of the extra cost. Especially if they are "Carbon terrified", as I like to call it. Tongue Or, as I mentioned above, if you pay a premium for electricity and that extra couple % would save you a lot more money. Still, even at 3x the electric cost on that first example, it would take you around 1 year 7 months to use that much more electricity.

Glad it helped. Smiley The list of changes is still on github: https://github.com/KnCMiner/images/blob/master/Neptune/Changelog but long story short, yes, I would upgrade. There were quite a few bugs fixed, CGMiner updates and some improvements. About the only bug I notice now is that the LCD is messed up. Sometimes the IP address will be off the screen, or in the MH/s spot, or the MH/s will be in the IP spot, lol.

Yes ...
diffrence is a lot of bug fixes!
and preformance enhancement.

https://github.com/KnCMiner/images/blob/master/Neptune/Changelog
1.06s is very stable.

Just out of curiosity.....if as I suspect....KNC has done its last firmware updates for Titan (and also imho neptune) .....is there a way to upgrade
when/if the next bfgminer miner beyond 5.1.0 comes along? Or does that depend on what bfgminer adds for enhancements vs how knc equip works?

Lastly I see that KNC posted the 'source' on github has anybody done anything interesting with that or as yet have not felt the need due to past
knc support

just asking last thing i programmed was in apple ][ basic... Smiley

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

I've been looking into the source code and seeing what I could improve or make slightly better. Can't really do much improvement for these types of ASIC's, but it may be possible to pull off integrating a more stable control system. I'll see what I can do. Whether everyone here likes it or not, the KNC Titans are still the best Scrypt ASICs in terms of MH per Wattage (at least in Canada it is). Titans still suffer quite a bit from fast block efficiency, maybe something can help fix that issue without having to use a set difficulty.

I guess my main point is that someone can tweak whatever improvements in the next bfgminer into some kinda way I can upgrade too.... that someday hopefully better
version of bfgminer if/when it comes out that would be great.....as to other tweaks to the source code....hey that is icing on the cake..don't beat yourself up on it

(it is knc junk by the by originally KNC  had a 3 month estimated warranty changed with the 1st month batch 1's not working well to 1 year but still you have to remember
these units were only really 'designed' for 3 months per say....and they are not the most well built junk (i mean I'd settle for well built junk from knc has not even lived up to that)

I try to keep that in mind when dealing with the orig batch Titan's I have...my Titan has been going for 5 months now...i try not to make too much direct eye contact or dork with it much......i suspect it is plotting to 'brick itself' and any perceived slight.....and at any given moment

imho the Titans secretly long to return to inanimate objects as quickly as possible ...thus the somewhat futile race to stop them from the 'sweet release' of doorstop-ness...

frigging raspberry Pi $69 usd controller board science kit project included.....

the $69 buck comment as a raspberry pi science kit was to KNC's daughter board and the rest.....junk ....not very good junk either high  priced junk
their cost was probably $69 bucks not impressed with a controller board w/o even the expense of a case

as to the tech comment

point taken...but how many 300mh titans have you picked up for 567 usd (march 1st) or 2.3 btc ..complete and no dead dies
also with equip deductions for my orig titan rather then 10.1k for the miner ..whittled that down to 7.6k after those deductions

still knc miner orig purchase was a dumb buy at full price first in line

but hey I have other angles then just tech I do OK all things considered

@Notthematrix, Searing or others:

I've got 4 neptune cubes that get power and show up in the GUI, but I can't seem to get them to fire up.  I've tweaked the die settings to no avail.  Any ideas to get them working or is there any value to them?

Disclaimer: I have nep not a tit.
I doubt they reinvented their shitty PCB for the tit though.

It might mean that cube has no 12VDC power.

If you unplug all the 12VDC and turn on the controller with the ribbon cables installed you may see just temp.
On a nep you WILL see the "ASIC" temp.

Someone already got this problem ? Seem that one of my 5 cube doesnt receive power as the others... My 4 cubes are at 240 W + and cube 2 is always at 6-7 watts... ? Ive tried all possible combinaisons and i noticed that's really the problem of this cube and not wires. Thank you

Thank you

I would say take the ribbon cords out from the controller board one by one until you figure out what cord belongs to that cube.

Then i would say unplug the rest of the cubes the same way and only leave that one cube plugged in. Then i would say turn it on and mine and see if its still doing it.
If it is, then try the power cord from a known working cube and if its still doing it.

Then try a ribbon cord from a known working cube and if its still doing it.
Try a different slot for the ribbon cord on the controller board. And if its still doing it then email knc for RMA after you have reflashed the micro sd card with firmware from scratch and the problem still exists.

If it at some point in the trial it starts working then you know it has to do with that part. My initial guess would be a power issue.

I tried everything and ive noticed thats really a power problem of this cube. Does someone have a home solution? If not, gonna need to deal with Knc to get a new one :S

Have you tried 'Reset to factory settings on the System tab?
http://puu.sh/hbwQV/0501a00c07.png
Any problems I've had with cubes not showing or working properly has always been fixed with this option.
I thought my controler board had gone wrong when none of the cubes would show, but this reset brought them all back online.

Then rip the band aid off and RMA it. Some of mine arrive back today. Thats a turnaround of less then two weeks.
