I am sure they got delivered like this: lol Sounds like KnC did this themselves before they got on the truck. Can someone take pictures of this disaster? They rivetted them shut? lol At least their giant 20PH farms look swanky and put together well.

Knc is going to have to eat the cost of 400 FrankenJupes because they didn't bother to attach heatsinks with screws (3TH * 400 = 1200TH).
I doubt the units can be repaired, so they will be a compete loss. That is going to hurt.
I strongly suspect that there have been management and engineering changes at Knc and some of their early investors are looting the company dry and trying to squeeze every last penny worth of profit out of it.

it's not the shipping company's fault if these frankenjups are damaged, it's KNC fault. if constructed in a flimsy aluminium case and circuit boards fitted to the bottom with nylon plugs, then placing the heat sink/fan assembly in the center without securing to firm base will definitely dislodge the heat sink/fan assembly with any shipping company. by looking at photos, if these frankenjups were dropped sideways even a couple of inches then the heat sink/fan will move, do this a couple of times and you're going to have damage. there is no way that any of these will survive any form of transport. these wouldn't even survive if you pick it up and transported it in the boot or back seat of a car. also the exposed circuit board on the bottom of the case is asking for trouble in itself. To think whoever designed these miners probably thought he/she done a great job and saved KNC lots of money by cutting corners. this is what I'd do to who ever designed and approved these frankenjups

How hard can it be to "simulate" handling of a miner by a freight company?
Simply get two interns to toss the package around a little, as every parcel will experience some force on it, simply when going through the sorting machines of any courier.
After a little of that, any Engineer worth a penny would have figured out that the units cant be shipped when built in this fashion.

Its not hard at all. Or, they could follow the conveniently published PICTURE guidelines that UPS has for all sorts of things. Every single Item I ship follows those guidelines, or double. I never had any problems reshipping jups in a double wall 275lb strength box, not the flimsy shit they used.

Do you still think it was only 2 reports and I was just a KNC hater? I was merely reporting the facts.
and now for a prediction... ... here comes the datahall offer for FrankenJupiter convertees...
*Someone's gonna be really pissed off at KNC when they realize what just happened, and why IMHO.
nope, just worried cause i received mine but didnt get it inspected before i mailed it again. im trying to stop it now, before any more damage happens. you said there were dozens of reports but didnt provide any proof and at that time i only found 2 reports. it wasnt until i talked to my other buddy in florida, who had 5 unit sent and all five were fkd. I imagine due to the Heat sink not being screwed down, but rather being held down by "pressure" from foam and the top of the case cover, that most if not all units will need to be opened, inspected and properly re-assembled if the boards are still viable. Avenger mentioned that the boxes had no sign or arrow for "up" which then allowed for the boxes to be rotated as they moved along the shipping line, and this caused most if not all heat sinks to slip off the ASIC CHIP. I have some heat sinks that are about side ways laying across the boards, so pushing with a pen/pencil through the slots WILL NOT BE AN OPTION. Whatever happens, I am not mining with these or powering them on until I get word from KNC. I unpacked each unit as carefully as possible to look for small pieces (resistors) and found at least 1 or 2 in the wrapping of every unit and way more in others where the heat sinks beat the shit out of the boards. Some boards I can visibly see they are fucked, but others I can not so I take no chances. I have received an email that says basically 'hurry up and wait' we'll get to your problem order number 666666666 or something like that. LOOL, i laugh at you so HARD! .So you invested your dads money in to knc and expect to earn million $ by babysitting your miner? And now crying HHHAAHHAA!Dude seriously get a real job! You should really take this troll account back to your shitcoin hole where you came from and leave this for the big boys. Maybe your mom will raise your allowance so you can buy another gpu. GL!

If we are talking shipping boxes, gotta dig up this old gem on the quality of KNC's boxes from October omfg For those not in the know, that was just a clever photoshop job. The original KNC boxes didn't have the logo on them nor the cutout handles. I don't care what excuse KNC wants to use, this was NOT an instance of UPS mishandling or even a problem with the packing. These units could have had white-glove treatment in every step of transport and still would have arrived in pieces. This is undoubtedly a problem with engineering and assembly.
