Exactly, because fiat is a pain in the ass, every fiat trade is a taxable event. This is close enough within risk.
Not if you're American or British and maybe quite a few others. It's just as taxable as an actual dollar trade. yeah it sucks here in the USA. anything to anything is a taxable event. The like-kind transaction capital gains tax postponing (like with real estate) doesn't apply? nope. IRS specifically made that clear in 2017(? think was for tax year 2017). even before that date they claim it wouldnt of applied anyway. im not sure if anyone has challenged that for earlier years, but even before the 2017 ruling my CPA said the safe bet was not to do like kind for crypto to crypto when i was filing my taxes. since i did very little trading before 2017 (im mainly a hodler) there wasnt a huge difference anyway so i played it safe. call me a wimp if you will but i have no wish for the IRS to make my life miserable down the line.

Ok so Molina is a director of Global Trade Solutions. He is also a director of the Polish bank Bitfinex was using. While the Tether brouhaha was playing out this week, it also emerged that Bitfinex has yet another new bank. This time, its European home is with the obscure Bank Polskiej Spółdzielczości – also the home of CEX.io – under the name of CRYPTO SP.ZO.O. Why isn’t Bitfinex using its own name and why is it with a bank that ranks 15th in Poland in terms of asset value and 26th in terms of number of outlets? But wait, the plot thickens…
The director of Bank Polskiej Spółdzielczości is Molina Lee Ivan Manuel who is also the director of numerous Panamanian shell companies. https://news.bitcoin.com/questions-mount-bitfinex-stay-silent-wake-tether-hack/

Then you should probably use physical metals instead of a dystopian, non-fungible, permissioned ledger, cashless society slave system that abolishes the 5th amendment.

Oh HSBC... It is starting to make sense now.
But I thought bitcoin was "fighting teh bankers"... Who would have guessed the bankers (HSBC) would buy up a bunch of imaginary, valueless tokens, artificially manipulate them to the moon, then attempt to dump them on the goyim while simultaneously using the transaction to launder drug money.

^this In other words, the odds of Last of the V8 winning his bet are on the cusp of going against him... sucks to be poor (V8).
You would know Huh? Me doesn't understand U. I have done pretty well through my whole life, of course with several periods of frugality, or choices to live within my means, but I have never felt myself to be poor. On the other hand, when I witness certain levels of wealth extravagance that some rich folks enjoy, on a relative basis, I might have considered myself as poor... yet even after, having said all that, I am struggling to understand your response involving my own level of "poor" situation. Blah. Stop the nonsense. We ARE ALL POOR. Wake me up at $50K... If you had already established a decent BTC position at any price point in the 3 digits (which is the case for me), you should be feeling pretty damned rich, currently. Even if you did not significantly cash out any of your bitcoin between $7k and $19,666, your investment is currently experiencing a decent 5x return on that portion that was accumulated in the 3 digits. There are not too many investments that can provide such return levels.. and so for about a year and a half now, we have had many opportunities to cash out at supra $5k prices, that is if we were to value our holdings in fiat - and have some pessimism about BTC's future. On the other hand, if we perceive bitcoin having ongoing decent future potentials, then that 5x cushion should provide considerable comfort - which is another way of suggesting that feelings of rich should exist for anyone who had accumulated a decent amount of BTC stash in the three digits. So there.

https://twitter.com/lowstrife/status/1121670408434905090According to the the NYAG, "Bitfi[n]ex do not believe Crypto Capital's explanation saying the funds have been seized"
According to Bitfinex's announcement today, they claim that "those same funds have been seized and safeguarded".
Fuckery is afoot. He said, she said.

It's probably HSBC thinking they're above the law and can just bribe/order some regulators to unfreeze their drug money and make this problem go away. Probably will happen! When's the last time a kike banker went to jail for ANYTHING? Supposedly the US stock market itself is propped up in large by drug money providing massive amounts of liquidity. They'll probably give HSBC a slap on the wrist and say, "Now now! It's un-American to launder your drug money in bitcoin instead of the stock market!"

I’m sure the SEC can quite easily pick up the phone to the Polish authorities.

tether died and buried hundred times. people fallin for the same shit hundred times still amazes me. nothing will happen to tether, this will be forgotten in a few weeks.
I agree with you that tether serves as a kind of "china bans bitcoin" that continues to deliver. Tether FUD will not be forgotten, as long as it continues to work.

I just have bought my ever first bitcoin. Not that much though (not preferred to share). I have had researched on bitcoin since January 2018 but didn't dare to invest in. I spent a hour or two daily on it to learn about it. Today, I have deposited a large amount of my savings and purchased bitcoin. I can feel the ride.
Since you have been "studying" BTC for nearly a year and a half, you may have established a dollar cost averaging plan, too, beside merely injecting a bunch of capital at one price point? Do you have any further tentative strategies that you are willing to share? You could share some of the outlines of such tentative strategies without necessarily disclosing too many personal details. What if that account is actually THE brand new account with a nickname (not his real name)?
The cynic in me says people know we’re generous Merit givers in this thread. Very convenient a Brand New account makes its first post here saying how they’ve just bought their first bitcoin & oh look, 21 Merit received. Straight to the first signature campaign or bounty requring received Merit to earn money, never to post in the WO again. Hmmmmm! Yep. We do tend to be pretty generous in this thread.

How is it "FUD" if everyone here can see Bitfinex and Tether are operating wide out in the open as a criminal entity? Being affiliated with HSBC just makes it even more LOL. As if it wasn't obvious the first time they STOLE all customer deposits after trading against their own customers and having the trade go against them during the halving.

Meh, I prefer a weekend PUMP, so let it be. if it just would be that easy +32% over the last 30 days I'd say we are doing alright Accordingly, another 20% correction would not be out of the ordinary, but another 20% correction is not any kind of necessary condition precedent in order for BTC prices to resume up towards testing resistance in the $6,500 to $7,500 price arena.

Aren't you a real RocknRolla then... https://youtu.be/TdpR8VuvbCM?t=15loved the movie, hope it gives some truth to an 'english character'. Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels could be my favorite movie but for some reason I haven't seen this one so I'll have to check it out. That or i forgot, I do that on occasion.
