Lol fuck off, your on site gardener will live in a better place than that when you sell Cheesy

Hey, I'm a doer upper.

And I'm researching floating buildings so I may as well start with a disposable one.

Haha!

I was looking at living costs in The Philippines earlier. I thought about nutildah (no homo) & had a little look.

It’s so fucking cheap.

You can buy apartments in Japan for $100.  The only downside is you have to live in a massive, completely empty apartment building by yourself and it’s freaky as fuck.

People buy them to use as ski lodges 1 week per year.

You can buy freestanding 4 bedroom houses for $10k and rent them out to gringos for $2k per week.

[Snip]

The most bizarre thing is that what was once thought of as shit social housing is actually vastly more liveable than what's billed as an exciting modern executive luxury new build development.

A 1930s council house is rock solid and bursting with space and storage.

Social housing in the UK has always had regulations, like minimum room size requirements.

New private builds have no such crazy and outdated rules.  So you can have what are effectively broom cupboards that are described as single bedrooms, even though you can only get a single mattress in there if it's placed vertically.

Basically you can't afford to be poor in the UK. That is if you want to buy a home with an actual decent horizontal bedroom with enough room for a shag in.

The solution is simple: people just need to become smaller in size.  /s

That's sheer genius!  Hey, you know what - I think Boris Johnson is looking for a new housing minister with bright new ideas.

Actually, maybe don't apply - he would probably take it seriously and make it gov. policy

I don’t know about Tokyo property prices.

But they still haven’t recovered from the 90s property bubble in the regions, including the ski areas.  Also they have no appreciation for older buildings.  To the Japanese, any building older than 20 years has zero value and has to be knocked down and rebuilt from scratch.  It doesn’t help they have no fucking clue about basic maintenance.  But a bit of paint and a bathroom refresh can work wonders.  You might have to work out the plumbing yourself because Japanese plumbers are mostly incompetent.

Gringos don’t have these refined sensibilities and are perfectly willing to stay in a house that was built in 1995.  Stupid gringos.

Pricing in Japan is fucked.  A bottle of Jim Beam is $9 and an apple is $20.   People focus on the price of apples and not on the price of whisky.

Were they nice to you there or did they poke at your eyelids and complain about white people smelling like wet dogs?

My last experience of Japan was watching Enter The Void so I'm too scared to go there now.

They were remarkably patient and polite and pissed themselves laughing at my pidgin Japanese.  Much more patient than a cashier in Sainsbury.   We were in ski towns so YMMV.

Spent plenty of time in Thailand in the past, haven't been there in years.
Maybe this won't be so easy, it is kinda obscure place to go. Here's better images of the boat, the locals, and the launch of a boat. Done in 30 knots of wind!
I'll add some of the monuments here if need be later.

Vietnam?

bit like this boat style

Mui Ne?
Its not Mui Ne, Phu Quoc, or Nha Trang but it's certainly Vietnam. More hints =  water color and wind strength. Hmmmm......
Giving up? Here's the pagoda in the center of the town.

I see the corn slid down a bit. 8670 now.  $101,700,000 sale to make that move.
Whale poop I believe.

Linh Quang Pagoda: the oldest temple on Phu Quy island.  That explains the wind too.

That was one of the toughest yet even with the full images.

Bingo! Well done. Thou shalt be sprayed with thy merit. Wink
Remote area that's only now starting to see significant tourism since better boats have been built to access the place. Visitors need a seperate visa as it's a military controlled island in the contentious South China Sea. Been coming here for the past 9 years for kitesurfing trips.   About 20k residents, most of which are fishermen and children Roll Eyes  It's an interesting melting pot of culture that isn't found anywhere else in Vietnam.  The children still yell Hello when they see foreigners. Slowly things are changing, like everywhere. Wouldn't recommend it unless you're here for the wind or a weekend getaway from Saigon or similar.

I’d like to see something similar passed in the UK.

I don’t think it’s fair I’ll have to pay up to 20% capital gains tax on an investment that I mostly bought in 2014-15.

In Germany there is 0% capital gains tax on assets that you have HODLED for over 12 months.

I’ll figure a way around it, I’ve been playing the system in business for years.

You think that is bad, I have to pay 30% capital gains tax on everything over 50 000 SEK (about 5000 USD).

I refuse to move anywhere sweaty. And though I don't know how sweaty it is there it's certainly close enough to other places filled with people sweating to raise my suspicions to Defcon 1.

I could buy a rotating army of small Filipinos to sit in fridges and then run out and press themselves against me until they warm up, but I think I'd rather stay put and incur a bit more expense.

Nahhhh, I remember how you used to handle it back in the days uncleD:

Indeed it is, but on the upside, when you have the money it stays yours, no inheritance tax, no tax on gifts, no tax on wealth and no property tax (but a yearly council fee of max 8349 SEK (about 835 USD)).

No! Far away from the greek wines and beaches.

Please stop being so amazingly retarded.
Our bitches are just fine.

Festivals of viniculture and wine were devoted to Jupiter.

Nope.
They were devoted to Zeus's son, Dionysus.

Try harder.

I am surprised, but not about them shunning the old; now you mention that it rings true with things I heard before.

It does sound like an opportunity, but one that'd be relying on outsiders to make it work. Not for me, it's too far off, but it does sound like pricing is all over the place.  Fucked indeed.

Sadly not, sport.

My bowels let go in there one time too many.

These days I limp out of my chalet and swim across to the oil terminal. Showering in the outflow is an invigorating start to anyone's day.

If I remember correctly, when you visit the forum without logging in, you see all the edits in the posts with the time of the edition.
The fastest and safest thing is for someone to quote the supposed winner quickly.

edit: Forget it, there are 10 minutes to edit the publication without seeing that it has been edited.

Yeah, that's exactly the problem. The grace period makes it difficult to really know if I a post has been edited right after being posted.

It seems no one really knows how to detect it.

Incorrect. You guys should ask LoyceV for confirmation, but afaik his bot is getting *only* the *initial* *unedited* version of the posts.
http://wallobserver.tk/

Edit: Congrats @bitserve !

Thanks!

I am not sure his scrapping will be fast enough to detect ANY afterwards edition. It probably depends on the timing and frequency of requests.

I was going to invoke LoyceV but it seems your name dropping was more than enough. Impressive quick response btw:

I scrape unedited posts indeed, and there's no way for me to know which posts have been edited (without scraping everything) again.

As far as I know:
  • Posts show they've been edited if they're edited after more than 10 minutes
  • All edits after 10 minutes are logged and Admin can see older versions
  • Edits within the first 10 minutes are not logged by Admin

My http://wallobserver.tk/ site shows the posts as they were within a few seconds after creation. Now that the site is mentioned again: does anyone even use it? The domain is valid for another 8 months, after that it will expire (there's no way I'm going to pay by CC).

I am thinking about that but... How can I detect if someone uses the edit button in the grace period? Is there a way?
See Viewing unedited posts and deleted posts, view per post, per user or per topic for my post-logs Smiley

If I could check what the original post exactly was that would be more than enough for me. To put things into context, we need to know at what exact time someone has send a certain post (a badger in my case) BUT at the same time, make sure the price of BTC was already over a certain price (ie: $10K).

For that we require that also a screenshot of Bitstamp chart is included in the post. But... the screenshot (which takes some precious seconds to upload to imgur, reference, etc) could be added right afterwards, ie 10 seconds laters. Is your scrapper fast enough to get the original post before any edit/addition is done to it?

What is the delay you are using for your scrapper? Or maybe there is a way to retrieve the original/unedited post from bitcointalk?

This is just a silly game, but still I would like to make sure I do it right and as much error free as I can. Just because.
