The risk is seemed obvious to me here. The main risk when you buy bitcoins and hold it in an exchanger or online wallet. Those bitcoins that you hold there is not your's actually, it's the exchanger's money or online wallet's, and from different reasons they can decide to get close or get hacked and then you will loose everything. So, only hardware wallets with investing in bitcoin.

The risk entirely depends on what you are investing. Means, if you are investing all your savings, then you probably are taking a good amount of risk. But if you investing just a percentage of your savings, then it is best time to invest in bitcoin. Because it has got huge upside potential than any other asset available in the market.

Also the risk depends on the holding time as well. If you are looking for a quick profit, then bitcoin might not be a good idea for you, but if you are thinking long term, then you may not find any better investment idea than bitcoin. So it all depends on you.

Investing in altcoin can be risky in long term as you never know what will be its position in coming years so comparatively investing in bitcoin is much safer as the price of bitcoin is expected to go higher in future so its a better investment to make in my opinion.

It is true that we have increasing demand on the bitcoin, when the supply stays the same (on the contrary to the regular currency) but it doesnt necessarily means that it has very small risk because of that.
I would even say that bitcoin is in the group of the risky assets, because its price is highly volatile, and the fluctuations are on the chart everyday, with a unexpected moves.
Only lately, BTC has become kind of stable, but I think that is because everybody is waiting for some incident that will be a key to further rise, or drop.
I assume it will be rather a price decrease, because we have been for so long on the 1200-1250$ area.
