I wonder if our May 1st order will REALLY be two more weeks before shipping... I'm betting/hoping I'll be sooner. (knock on wood)

Many here are probably more interested in the time frame for later batches 2-6. There was some talk awhile back that Avalon planned to group many 10K chip orders into a single order at the fab plant for efficiency purposes, resulting in many batches being shipped at the same time. Does anyone have any updated information on this? From the pictures Avalon put out last week of their chips coming in, it definitely looked like they have many 10K batches ready to go... So much suspense.  |

It's true for pretty much everything. It's not really possible for a power supply to "give" a device more power than it "asks for" as long as it's outputting the correct voltage. Of course the device and power supply don't really talk to each other. The only time you have to be careful is with junky wall warts. For example, a cheap 9V wall wart will put out something like 14V if the load current is very low. This may or may not matter for your device. |

Will klondike (or any other device) take as much power as they need? A battery should have an Amp/hour rating and a voltage rating, multiply the two to find out the maximum wattage it will supply. It should be at least at a 5x factor, ie you need 5 time the Amperage/hour times voltage result as the device will draw in order not to ruin your battery (or have too big a voltage drop to operate) also you need to charge the battery. Are you thinking about using a battery bank and solar panels? Because then we're talking a minimum of 12-16 times bigger capacity (no sun at night) and an array capable of charging 3-4 times what is drawn during a 24 hour period. These are ball park figures and you need to bring out your calculator and weather statistics to make sure you overshoot on the capacity or risk down time. A good regulator with proper specs to meet the application is also needed. |

Hi Stringchains , That PSU would be just perfect for 16 x K16. 1 K16 with some overclocking would use ~ 50W, so 16 x 50W = 800W. That would be 66% PSU load, where most PSUs are most efficient at 50-75% loading. Cheers |

Hi mastahofdesastah, a couple of days ago I've sent an email to steamboat asking the same question. In the OP Steamboat has said that we can choose any 3rd party assembler. Purchasing
What do I do with chips?
Chips require assembly in a PCB designed specifically for them. You may choose to have your chips assembled with an independent third party, or through us for decreased shipping times and administrative load.
Also, he said that if there are multiple ppl interested in sending their chips to burnin he could ship them together to save some cost. Do you think you'll be sending any chips to Burnin for assembly? Perhaps there could be a group rate if there a few chips going that way.
I am fine with giving group rate shipping for those that would like to have their chips shipped to a dev. In the event multiple ppl want to ship to burnin, I will package them all together and divide it by the number of chips bought per person to get the discounted shipping rate. I haven't heard back from him yet. Cheers |

Thx I tried to PM to, but SB seems busy.
I chosed "none" on the assemble option. I'm on batch 5 and already ordered and paid by burnin.
Hope I can change the assembly option.
