OK so here goes the "Newby Question of the Day": On my stats page there is a category for "Blocks Found", and of course with the minimal number of hashes I'm contributing, I would not expect that number to change from the "0" (zero) that is currently. Does something "special" happen if for some strange reason my equipment might stumble upon a "block"? Does my "reward" change? Do I suddlenly get rich? Or do I merely get the recognition of having "found 1"? And by "found", does that actually mean "resolved", because I can't actually count the number of times my mining software has reported that "a new block has been detected"? Just posing these teasers to hopefully, eventually, get me out of, and beyond the "Newby" status that I know I justly deserve. Thanks, and I look forward to all of your educated responses.

You get nothing extra for finding a block other than perhaps a laurel, and hearty handshake.

Granted I don't have a ton of mining power but I've never found one.

I have found 3 Blocks while ive been with slush(and this was when blocks value was 50 btc) and it gets shared among us all, because we all are working towards a common goal. Would be nice if i was solo mining, lol. Op, Every time slush has a payout, a member found a block and its shared among all of us. And when you see new block detected, it mean someone on the entire btc network found a block, and we are all working on the next. Hope this explanation helps, and happy mining.

The is no special reward, but depending on your hashrate you may get a bit bigger reward, just because of the way the Slush score system works
"a new block has been detected" means that someone on the network found it ... when You find a block there will be a message 'PROOF OF WORK FOUND" or similar depending on your software

This will be implemented in the next overhaul/upgrade that is currently in the works.  Don't know what the minimum will be then, but my guess is something like .002?

I get the double emails most the time. Today's payout I only got a single email notification.

I am a newbie...if you can call someone 50 years old a newbie Cheesy. So far I have been mining for about one month and have made 1/3 of my initial investment.
This can be profitable but has become my new hobby as well. I am formerly a "banker" by trade and I am adding a new Antminer to my growing farm. Have you guys seen the prices for the cloud hashing from Cointerra 10TH between 37K and 50K a year...Why would you do that? 10 Antminers would cost after coupons $19,600.00. Even if you have your miners hosted the total would be 37K a year. Then at least you could sell your equipment at a later date. Why would you contract hash?

Hello, and welcome.

I'm curious as to what you purchased and for how much that returned 1/3 in a month? When I crunch the numbers on many of the devices I see for sale, factor in predicted rises in difficulty, I do not see many ever reaching ROI.

I started with GPU mining then purchased four 10 G/Hs ASICMiner Block Erupter blades in 9/2013, cashed in when BTC topped $1,000 and did well, but I'm about ready to shut them down as the cost to run them is closing in on what they are generating.

Contract hashing? As you may be guessing it is a scam. It's been around for a while now.

Cost of electricity is a major factor plus considering the dropping prices in mining gear and ROI can be had in most cases. When reward halving occurs again, undervolting may be required on some gear to keep the Gh/s/Watt ratio down and profitable. My Antminer S1 units WILL pay for themselves before this years end.

Today was an awesome day so far about $22 earned!

Hello all, I got an email today from (what i though was slush's pool at first, it wasn't) lightningasic.me. They are claiming to have a 1TH miner for 1.1BTC. Has anybody else had any experience with them. To me it sounds like a scam (i got dupe once before by asictech.net) and was wondering if anybody can vouch for their credibility. Any input would be appriciated. Thanks.
