A couple of quick & very newbie questions:

1- I know that the pool gets 1 BTC as a fee from each found 50 BTC block to keep the servers running, but is there any fee deductions from my payout as well? For example I set my payout to be when I reach 5 BTC, will I get that or less due to certain fees? If yes, how much are they?

2- When setting my wallet address, is that one of my "Receiving Addresses" codes from the Bitcoin application?

Any help would be appreciated.

1) no fee deductions from your payout, you will get it once you have more than your limit 5

2) exactly - the receiving address.

I did have that, but after a couple of minutes it updated itself and rewarded me, should hopefully update within 10 minutes max?

That's normal, sometimes your total reward will drop and come back when the pool is sorting out new confirmed reward. I posted about that a few pages back and thought there was a problem.

Im just starting out mining - I want to confirm that everything works with my slow system before I start putting in more resources.

Right now, I'm getting an average of 0.7 kHash/sec. I'm aware that this will give me very few bitcoins, but my understanding is that it should deliver something other than zero.

I've been using mining.bitcoin.cz for a few hours but less than a day and all of my counters are still at 0. My worker shows 0 blocks found, 0 shares and a score of 0. My estimated reward is 0.00000000000. What i

How can I track my (slow) progress? Am I suffering from update delay, or am I not getting any credit at all? If things are working right, when should I expect to see a single block show up?

It's unlikely that you'll EVER get anything out of that.

Yeah, .7 is a waste to even try.  Check out the old mining calculator.

http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/old_calculator.php

Even at current difficulty rates you're looking at over 58,000 years (yes, I said years) before you have a chance of finding a block...

When do "Unconfirmed" rewards become "Confirmed" and when do they get cancelled and don't add up at all?

Rewards are confirmed when the number of confirmation left on the block reaches 0.
Invalid blocks were due to some technical issue, but so far I'm seeing less and less of it.

I do not understand why there is no payout when it shows shares > 0 ?

5163    2011-06-05 18:39:13    0:02:22    26196    none    128898    confirmed
5141    2011-06-05 03:59:14    0:00:58    9616    none    128762    confirmed
5137    2011-06-05 02:05:03    0:02:01    19418    none    128742    confirmed

I get payouts on most valid rounds but every now and then on short rounds I get no payout.

For example here is a short round I got paid for.

5171    2011-06-05 21:48:19    0:01:15    13745    0.00747761    128932    confirmed    808.57   120.92

Any ideas/explanations?

wow we're at 800 Ghash/sec now! I'd say we need LP support rather badly now....wouldn't you agree?

Besides longpolling I'd also prefer instant payment instead of long confirmation periods, not sure if slush has the funds to pull it off though.

The only reason I still mine on deepbit from time to time tbh.

No, it was a 33 second round, yes 33 seconds!
You didn't submit a large amount of shares in that short time so your earnings will be smaller.

Damn. Didn't notice that, must be a record since the 17 second round about a week ago.

Prob. just bad luck then. First come first serve on shares.
