Once btg goes mainnet tomorrow , will you be able to use same miner command that was used on testnet?  This might be a more specific question for a pool .  Maybe just a port change ?

Vega 56 is pretty much a one-trick pony on Monero at this time for cost and efficient cryptocoin mining, based on the info I've seen.

The 1070Tis are crap at eth,  I dont see how the 56 is a one trick pony when it hits high hash rates on pretty much every algo it is used on , sorry but you are not making sense lol.

They were back up to $459 or $469 when I checked Newegg pricing right before that post - RIGHT NOW there is a Power Color model at $409, a Gigabyte at $429, and the rest are OVER $500.

On a hash/$ basis, even at $400 they barely match a RX 470/480/570/580 while being less power efficient per every posting I've seen.
On everything else BUT Monero (and D.Net RC5-72 work) they are VERY poor on a hash/$ basis and usually not competative on hash/watt.

ETH algo is about the ONLY algo the 1070 ti is "crap" at - far more flexable card than Vega 56 is and efficient at a LOT of algorithms.

Efficiency is not everything, especially when it's as expensive as a pascal GPU.
Hash per watt is good, hash per dollar is better. In a market as uncertain as crypto, you want the quickest possible return on your investment. Unless you have a massive operation already that'll quickly pay off your investment, you'll see profit quicker with Vega's.

TLDR: Vega is less risky

^^
This

and mining monero at 2000h/s at 125 watt is pretty damn efficent to me lol
vega is the best choice for fastet ROI on gpus at current pricing, 1070ti and 1070s are too expensive for me

Can you please share your settings for 2000h/s at 125W? You are using Vega64 or Vega56? Thanks!
Im using vega 56 powecolor and gigabyte with the corresponding vega 64 bios so i can raise mem past 1000

my settings are 1250/1075 core voltage 800 mem voltages 925 set via overdriven tool

only one card does over 2050 though the rest are at like 1980 ish but im having issues adding more cardd to each board so not doing much tweaking.

I concur though Nvidia cards are fire and forget AMD requires alot of coaxing just to get basic shit to work

Hey everyone... I just switched over 2 of my rigs from mining MUSIC+DCR to ETC+DCR but got a dramatic drop in hashrate on both machines (about 25%)... not only with ETHash but also on DCR.  I rebooted, triple checked the settings, but everything checks out.  I am using a bit older Claymore dual miner (9.2) but since I am still running rx470's didn't think this could be the problem.  The change to the .bat file was literally just 1 digit to the port (using MiningPoolHub for both MUSIC & ETC), so I am baffled as to what could be causing this drop.

Has anyone experienced something like this?  I am still running crimson 16.10 drivers... maybe that is the problem, meaning i need to finally go to the 17.xx Blockchain drivers?  but I was trying to avoid that as I heard some horror stories about power management early on.  And also, why would that affect my hashrate on DCR?  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I don't have much advice to directly answer your question. I will add that I had zero problems switching my rigs to using the blockchain drivers. As long as you use DDU and reinstall and have the most recent version of Msi afterburner you shlold be good.

My guess is the DAG size for ETC is affecting your hash rate. So the blockchain drivers would be able to offfset tha somewhat.

What power mod reg file are you using to get those Vegas  running fine?
I am having hard time getting my Gigabyte 56s flashed to corresponding 64 rom to work properly.  They respond in a different way when put in Asus X370 board with Ryzen cpu and Gigabyte Z270p board with G4560 cpu. win 10 64bit, 16gb ram, blockchain drivers, the reg file is ,orepowervega64_142_modded_fix.   It would not run with the regs given in the reddit thread

Im not using those powertune mods , just using very low voltage and low core speed

well to use the eight with the four  short cards are needed.

so I think I will just be using the eight for now.

This BTC vs BCH war is getting dumber by the day....

guess how many tx stuck at mempool...

https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

however... my Gen 1 S9s (bmminer v1) which was "outcasted" to Antpool are surprisingly doing much much higher than 100% PPS.

I was wondering why until I saw this post by Antpool in Twitter...

So my 1.72 PH is getting best of both worlds - BTC/BCH profit auto-switching? Can something verify this if true?

I know ViaBTC does this.... but Antpool doing this behind everyone's back is unethical.... but should I care? because I am still paid in BTC!

The price jump is crazy!  I can't believe how much Bitcoin Cash shot up.  I have to think Bitmain is behind it only accepting bitcoin cash for their miners.

I don't know for sure, but Bitmain has been that way since shortly after the fork, iirc.

Was this due to the allegedly unluckiness of the software? I remember some of that conversation on another thread (which will remain unnamed)...

Bitmain doesn't care where the hash rate goes as long as people keep buying their mining hardware and point it at their pool(s). If I recall, Bitmain's own pool(s) are PPS and they do not share any of the transaction fees in the mined blocks with the miners, correct?

My 3.4 bcc is now worth quite a lot

Earlier this year I had more than 18 BCC. I sold them for a reasonable amount at the time, but now? well... timing is everything. Like if I had held my over 7k LTC mined in 2012. The LTC I sold in 2016 and is funding my crypto forays today, including miners, and other alts.

No mining at the moment.

yeah, BCC now around $1,800... unfortunately BTC is taking a beating.  Luckily I am heavily diversified into many alts so not killing me too bad but still... not great to see it drop ~$1,500 in 2-3 days.

As for my BCC holdings... I held 3 BTC at the time of split. The 1 I had on Bittrex I converted to BTC right away. That move was looking great up until today lol.  I also held 1 BTC on my Ledger Nano S at the split and haven't touched it yet. I didn't really care when it was at $300 but now I need to look into how to get access to it.  The 3rd was on Coinbase. I remember hearing that they would be eventually be splitting/supporting BCC but like in Jan'18 or something. I remember thinking what a rip off that was since it would likely be worthless by then but if this holds at all, I was completely off base on that one. Wonder if that is still in the works or not.

Also really liking the huge spike in ETC at over $21 now is the #1 most profitable coin to mine now... at least for Rx 400/500 cards.

Yeah... the S9s were at that unnamed pool ... Juvia and her minions got over 20 blocks there Grin ... BUT he claimed that the S9s seems to be bring "bad luck" to the pool... so with a heavy heart I pulled out 108 x S9s mining there back to the mothership. Over time, all my Avalons A721s, A741s moved out too and spread across f2pool, viaBTC (BTC/BCH profit-switching) and Antpool.

In the past, I believed in the support for decentralization but I soon realized that I am a tiny fish in the big pond and what I should be really need to do was bring focus in making money, ROI the investment, think like Phil's signature about BTC and Alts.... and still be a part of the new economy - be it BTC or BCH or BTG etc...

Antpool has a PPS+, which is PPS plus Tx sharing. I am currently mining in that scheme with merge-mining NMC.
