Dr. Haribo:

howdy.    Smiley  im a new miner with about 650Mhps that will be running 24/7, and plan on adding more as things pay out.   i do like the ease of use that you have going on, but, like others, would like more stats and transparency on your site.  the level of activity that you have on the forums here gives me confidence in your operation, and i'm going to give it a solid go.  I'll probably have some basic questions in the next few weeks, as i am new to linux.  heheh, so bear with me.

Hi Steamy - welcome to the team!

I have a lot planned for statistics and transparency, both very soon (today, I hope) and more in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned! Wink

If you or anyone else have any questions, feel free to ask. Apart from myself we also have many members who can help, who are experts at all sorts of things.

Oh yeah third block just found!

Also, an IRC channel is now available (#bitminter on Freenode) with a bot in test with some features. You can join it with the web chat application or with your prefered IRC client.

Is the Mhps on my account setting supposed to match the speed reported by the miner?  My account shows 378.182 and does not change when I hit refresh, but my miner's speed rarely dips below 420.

No, it's an estimate (guesstimate, really), based on the number of proofs-of-work you are sending in. When you are lucky, it shows higher than actual speed. When you are unlucky, it shows lower.

I will add an explanation for this on the page - it's rather confusing.

Pools usually use a calculated estimate since there's no way they can tell how many MHash we are actually doing. So they are going to assume that each share takes X Mhash on the average to calculate, if you submit 10 shares within 1 second, then your hash rate is 10X Mhash/sec. But since it's silly to base on 1 sec, pools do anything from 1 minute (BTC Guild) to 3 hours or a mix (Eligius does 3hrs and 15 minutes).

So depending on your luck in solving shares, the pool will display either a higher or lower Mhash rate.

another request:

How about Total Proofs of work and proofs of work this round.  I was kinda expecting it to reset after the last find.

have a few friends now using your client... Great Job.

I agree.  It would be nice to have two totals, one for the current round and one for the lifetime of the miner.  Since we don't know the current number of proofs in the round, it would not help the poo hoppers, right?

It would also be nice to have an autostart minimized feature, something like GUIminer.

As I promised, I want to make a donation since I just got paid for the previous round.  Have you implemented voluntary donations?  You have and continue to put a lot of effort into your miner and pool and I want to show my appreciation and encourage you to keep doing it.

Hi,

long time lurker, just registered to tell you about your miner.

I have a "spare" mining machine that I used to try your miner, with one Geforce 8800GTS and a Quadro FX 580.
The GTS gives me around 37MH/s with phoenix/phatk and the Quadro around 5 (not even worth mentioning but hey...).
With your miner, with default settings, I get 22 and 0.7...
Quite lower...

On my main miner, with a radeon 6870 I go from around to 288 to 293. That's nice, but since it's so small bonus, I'd say it's even Smiley.

By the way I agree with some other posters, not needing to register like on eligius pool would be awesome!

I love the GUI though!

Thanks

That's strange. When I tested vs. Phoenix+phatk on my GTX580 I got 134 Mhps with my miner and only 33 Mhps with Phoenix. Maybe there is some big architectural difference between these different nvidia models. I will have to look into that. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, that would be the simplest and most anonymous system possible, I suppose. I'll think about it.

Perhaps the first thing I should make is a voting system for which features people want first. Tongue

The poll would seem like a good plan yes.

As for the Geforce, with its small power I don't really care myself, but some people might for better ones... if you have anything I can test it if you want.

Maybe you can test for me if I find a way to improve this. Have some other things I have to do first, though..

Nice dude.....Great job on this one...

Thank you Smiley

It's not a bad idea to make statistics and payments with only the bitcoin address, but it's entirely anonymous, like Eligius. I don't know if people prefer a account with all their workers and the total balance and some statistics which come later when DrHaribo will find the time, or one statistic page per address. That seems to let public statistics for all people (like in future top 10 workers for example, that's seem we can see what people will earn, etc). We can't make an option to let statistics private, because how we know it's you? And DrHaribo considering to create a forum dedicated to the pool. I think it's a good idea to link website accounts to forum accounts.

I haven't implemented voluntary donations yet. I think the most important thing right now is to get more members, and finish a few more features.

[...]

BUT... when I do add voluntary donations, it will unlock extra functionality. So it may be better to wait and get donations registered in the donation system when it is ready. It will still work just fine to mine for free, but I want to find some extras to give people who donate. Suggestions welcome.

That's great! I suggest a special ranking on the future forums for example, like premium member or donator.

Else, I have some troubles with the miner. I can reach 395/396 in peak with my two 6970 but there are fluctuations, in the performance mode too. It's not a very big deal but if it's possible to improve the stability, the miner will rocks all others! Grin

Those who want a per worker stats, can just create one address per worker so that will obfuscate how much they actually earn as an individual.

Yes, the hash rate is just a 2-second average at the moment. Seems I have to measure this over a longer period of time.
