I use nanopool and xmr-stak for miner etn, but i have problem because nanopool reported lower hashrate than it is. Xmr-stak reported about 12000 h/s with 6 vega gpu, but in nanopool see only between 7500 and 9000 h/s?

just curious.

has anyone tried Vega 8 and Vega 11 from the 2200G / 2400G?
- i would like to know that too, but honestly i would not expect a lot from APU unit, specifically gpu part of it, more of a "combined" number.

Does anyone know if cast will work when the planned fork is done in March and what will need to be done to keep mining? I have seen the monero thread but they mention all the other mining software apart from cast

Why would it not work? Cryptonight Algo. CAST XMR Cryptonight miner.

the POW is being modified to deter ASIC mining units being developed and i believe a patch is needed for the mining software to take into account the new POW algo change

No, they only change to block ASIC not GPU mining.

Hi,

there will be an update of Cast XMR to support the modified PoW algorithm of Monero (XMR) as soon when it is decided what the final modification will be. Make sure to update Cast XMR when the modification is available, Cast XMR will then automatically switch to the new PoW when the switch in Monero is happening. So stay tuned.

glph3k

I'm finding it difficult for CAST-XMR to properly identify the amd blockchain driver. The RIG has 6x Radeon Vega 56, however 2 of them are identified incorrectly, and consequently generating an OS crash. See the image:
http://altpc.com.br/cast-xmr.png

RIG Config:

MB Biostar TB250-BTC
6x PowerColor Radeon Vega 64
AMD BlockChain Driver
Windows 10 Pro Build 17.09 16299.248

I already used the DDU to reinstall the driver, but it did not work. Powerplaytable was applied. Crossfire is disabled.

Has anyone ever experienced this? any solution to fix this?

Hai guys I got a prob with my rig. after m using powertable costum by Bernest (Oh, yeah btw I didn't mod bios my vega 56) and then m trying to run my vega like everybody said in this group. Disable-enable GPU on device manager, run overdriventools batch , and then run cast xmr . everything is work fine,  but after a few hours later my cast XMR GUI just stop hashing/got frezze , this really annoying , I need to close my cast xmr GUI and run again. Help me please  Undecided

Dear duyquang06,

thank you, same wishes to you.

What GPUs are you using? Testing was running 72h on Vega 56 and Vega 64 without problems. Basically the --fastjobswitch cancels the current job as fast as possible and switches to the new job.

How many GPUs are you running on one machine?

Maybe running out of virtual memory?

Regards,
glph3k

Hi yondy12,

is this  also happening with the lastest version 0.8.5? I know that 0.8.3 could have such a problem.

Maybe use a mining monitor like cast-xmr-ui (https://github.com/anadventureisu/cast-xmr-ui/releases) which automatically restarts cast when it detects a performance drop.

Regards,
glph3k

Thank you for fast reply : D

My rigs using Vega 56, 64. 4 GPUs per Rig. 64500MB Virtual Memory, 8GB Ram. I read your instructions carefully.
I try optimized as much as i can. My stats now is acceptable (~7-8% outdated) in Nicehash.
But when i try new coin like TRTL (same algo cryptonight) it still high (>12%).

Don't know it cuz by Network or something else. Your XMR_Cast work really well 24/24.
I using Cast_XMR version 0.8.0, will try 0.8.5 when i comeback from lunar new year holiday.

I have similar issue with nicehash or any other pool that have high difficulty.
When the difficulty >400000 then in most cases I get connection errors.
So for nicehash I have about 10% of errors like "Could not be submit because of network error".

Btw, glph3k, could you please make it configurable timeout between reconnects? 20 seconds is too much.

P.S. Thanks for the great software

You need to select the right graphics card for a start. Try adding   -g 1   to the string. Currently, you are trying to mine on your Intel graphics!

Still have one of my Vegas mining at a good 100h/s slower than the other 5... and no idea why. They are all 56's flashed to 64's, running at 1950h/s except that odd one doing 1850. Same temperature, same clocks, same everything. Is there a logical explanation? Any suggestions?
