If we all just earn coins and hold them, nothing will happen. Cry Cry

Nothing will happen if nobody is buying them, either (as we're seeing with the currently low rates). People need to quit selling so low, and we need to move faster at creating a market that gives them some value.

Read his past posts. They are all things like "Thanks!" or "Great idea!" He's just trying to boost his post count so he can sell the account later.

DVCBank keeps saying access denied, I registered yesterday

Coinpayments offers devcoin... I thought that was the one we would use.

I would like more details of what the current code features... maybe admin access to see what we can do?

I understand Devcoin, but I really don't see this currency taking off. There's no incentive to use it. There's no sound monetary protocol. And the market clearly does not see it as any more advantageous than other currencies.
I get the ethical standpoint, but again, as a developer or creative artist, the question remains:
Why demand devcoin over bitcoin?

Wow you know how to copy & paste. I doubt you understand devcoin if you are saying that.

Anyways guys I need help figuring out how this bid voucher thing will work. Take a look at your personal info page on the auction site I added payout info but Im not sure if I should inplement a voucher system or just links or what? What will the buyer see? What is the incentive for the seller/buyer from doing wholesale business with bids other than the difference in price?

Why demand devcoin over bitcoin?

It's a free market, so you can demand whatever you like, even fiat if you prefer. When you earn devcoins as a developer or writer (from generation shares), you're making a trade with the project for your work. Asking for devcoins outside of generation shares is really personal taste, and ultimately since coins are so easily interchangeable, it doesn't matter what coins you accept. That doesn't detract from what the devcoin platform is trying to achieve, however.

Due to the non-halving block rewards, it suits trade purposes far more than saving purposes, so it's a good earning coin compared to bitcoins, but not as good a savings coin. That being said, there are plenty of hoarders of devcoins, too, but they would be considered investors rather than savers, because they're investing in other people working to create value. It's a coin that essentially mined by human work, and not hardware (but is secured by merge-mining from the bitcoin network, so they're entwined; if that goes down, devcoins go down too).

The administrators are currently focusing on building businesses that convert profits into devcoins, to store in a community fund, such as http://devcoinauctions.com. http://devtome.com also converts advertising revenue into devcoins, but so far it has been distributed to writers - at some point in the future either the share subsidy will stop and the ad revenue take over completely, or ad revenue will end up going to the community fund also.

Regarding prices: eventually, if the community fund takes off, and enough businesses develop to produce enough profits to contribute to the it, the supply of coins produced per block (50k) will be less than the demand in fiat/btc, at which point the price will start catapulting. The ethical part is that every single business developed by the community will be open source based, and freely copyable by anyone. As to whether they contribute to the fund is up to them, but $1M /month flowing into the fund would pretty much guarantee a price of 0.5 cents per devcoin (currently its about 0.001 cents per devcoin), and in practice will probably be higher. Setting up these businesses are generally subsidized by generation shares, but what they give back is up to them. As long as they proliferate open source, then the coin has been successful in its mission.

I can't even recall the URL for that DVCbank myself.

Those servers have no email systems set up so they don't inform me of new signups nor do they attempt to verify people's email addresses, so basically I was manually doing email checking myself when someone indicated in the thread that they had signed up.

I guess I need to periodically look for any new signups and try sending emails to them to see if they are real. Will try to get to that sometime but unfortunately not right this minute.

hey guys I was wondering what happened to this website: http://dvccountdown.blisteringdevelopers.com/

Heya, nginx had a meltdown for some reason, not sure why...restarted it anyway and it's up again.

optimized some more and added buy it now feature. http://devcoinauctions.com/faqs/can-users-cash-creditsclaim-refund/

I might be confusing something with the explanation on the page...but if I pay $1 per bid, and I get $0.75 credit back, I actually spend more than retail to buy now if I include the cost of bids.

Eg $1000 retail item, I make 100 bids, other people keep bidding, I say bugger it I want to buy now, I pay $925, right? If I opt for it, I end up spending $1025 in total? Or is the cost of bids meant to be ignored?

Im planning on adding bigger packages that cost $0.75 per bid... these will be available if you choose to be a wholesaler in you profile section. This way you will get them at the wholesale price but if people dont want to invest much.. yes they have to pay a premium... there is incentive to buy bigger packages and become wholesalers.

You also hAve the option to buy the item cheaper by bidding but
buy it now will be optimal if you buy the
biggest package.

I am really confused about the auctions site?

When do the auctions end? The timer keeps resetting, but you said I was about to win the first auction a couple of days ago and I have no idea how this would happen since the auction has not reached your reserve (which is unknown so could be $10 for all I know) and the whole thing just starts for another 69 hours again when it gets to 0.

Instead of being transparent and simple this is complex, confusing and it is very unclear how funds are actually handled/applied to these auctions.

I am sorry if that sounds blunt or causes offence but I have done a bit to support this project, I dont care about winning the auction or not, this is about the confusion and obfuscation that is frustrating for me and so, potentially frustrating for others.

I never reset the timer for the gift card you were winning. The other auctions for example the miner I reset it because we are running campaigns and instead of ending them I simply started them again for another week. If I let them end then we wouldn't have any auctions on an auction site! These ones are nowhere near reserve so I thought I would extend.. but I'm thinking of letting some of them expire and refunding the bids for them if they don't reach reserve this time. Sorry if this caused some confusion... I hope you see why I did this.

You were winning the gift card one and the reserve was 0.14 which you must have seen when you bid on it and it turned green instead of red. It's not in reserve status anymore. There is no choice but to relist the item if it doesn't reach the reserve. The other option is to let the auction expire and sell the miner for $0.22.. that's not happening.

The whole point of a silent reserve is so that users won't know what it is and keep bidding until its reached. It's like the ebay reserve. But it is something like 1% of the retail price on average so def not enough to say its way too high and stop people from bidding on the thing they want.

Now with the buy it now, really if you were a regular user you can essentially either win things for cheap or buy them at cost if you were going to go out and buy it anyway.

Hopefully the confusion will go away as time goes by as more people join and start bidding. I will get more items especially when devcoin funds some items... I even plan on having non-reserve auctions once in a while to draw interest, but only after we reach a milestone like 500 active bidders or something.

I will keep improving the interface, add email notifications to the watchlist/bid list, send out regular emails as part of these campaigns so on so on, so you're not left out of the loop.

Hey guys, I wanted to let you know about this:

HYPER is a new coin that is planning to launch a new MMO later with their coin as the game's currency. They are later talking about possibly adding DVC as well.

http://hypercrypto.com/space-based-mmo/

This could be a great joint project between HYPER and DVC.

Before there are any screenshots on the game I think HYPER will have to lay low on the markets..
