Can you mine bottlecaps with GPU's?

Yes, but compared with scrypt ASICs it's very inefficient... lots of power for very little hashrate. I doubt it would be profitable. Scrypt ASICs overtook GPUs about 3 years ago.

Looks like someone wanted some Caps today.

Any Idea how to mine bottlecaps ? The Tutorial at the start is old and i cant mine.

Not sure I can add much to the tutorial, but I'll give it a go:

In C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\BottleCaps\bottlecaps.conf put the following:

Code:
rpcuser=USERNAME
rpcpassword=PASSWORD
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.*.*
rpcport=7686
daemon=1
server=1
listen=1
addnode=69.181.165.105:7685
addnode=176.37.67.61:7685
addnode=188.165.203.89:7685
If wallet is already running, restart the wallet.
If locked, unlock.

Code:
ccminer-x64.exe -a scrypt -o 127.0.0.1:7686 -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD

My Wallet was locked thats why it didnt work thanks dude!

My wallet is not syncing, it's freezing at around 900k blocks left. I have the nodes from cryptopia as well... Anyone have a solution?

I restart the wallet if the sync freezes at a block for more than 5-10 minutes
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/1349 This helped me maybe you can use it too

Hello everyone,

I am quite new to this whole cryptocurrency market but I have done a lot of reading and bottlecaps seemed like a good thing to look into. I have several questions though and I would be great if you could answer them.

a) Is this currency still alive technically? I have donwloaded the 2.2.2.0 wallet but I am getting an error message: "Error loading blkindex.dat" - I saw some conflicting messages here in the last few months worth of discussion so I'd like to know if anyone can tell me how to fix it.

b) I have a computer up 24/7 so I'd like to start mining Bottlecaps if it is still possible. From what I saw it should be but I am not sure how to start. Are there any up to date guides? I only found advice on conrete errors people had months ago.

c) Is there any future for this project? I can see the price fluctuating but coinwars and other pages miss inportant info like Network hashrate etc.

Thank you in advance for any answers!

a, It is alive. I use the same wallet to stake and it works good. Do you get that error when you try to sync with a bootstrap file? If you delete everything except you wallet.dat and restart the error message should go away.

b, Unless you have a scrypt asic you shouldt mine. But you will get atleast 150% return with the proof of stake.

c, Probably not. But it is a > 4 year old alt coin with a fair distribution and a very low market cap so can also argue that it is way undervalued compared to other coins on ther market.

Hey I'm curious for point B why not scrypt ASIC mine?
Also is it under development? I agree its relatively undervalued in this crypto megabull run

Lol well there's no sellers, good luck to fill an order of 1 btc when the daily average volume is around 50$.  Unless one of the top holders wanna sell, this won't happen...

you could put in a buy order for 100 sat - shouldn't take to long to fill. Once the price goes up, miners will switch for the profit.

? Why would i buy 3 times above the market, of course its not a problem to get CAPS at such a price, you can buy 5M CAPs on the exchange before it reach 100sats.

Im not in a hurry, im propossing to buy a holders that would like to sell his bag...

Ive placed an order on the exchange lets see how it goes...

Who's point are you trying to make here?

buy up to 0.00000054 on the sells side of cryptopia you'll be just shy of 3m CAP

or place order @ 0.00000035 and wait for a few folk to fill it.

or use your imagination and place a few around the book

pretty straight forward really.

Well im simply asking if theres a bag holders that want to sell, without them i wont be able to buy on the exchange, and you know how it works when someone puts a large buy, smaller one move their order above it...  And if the coin has low volume, it never fills...
