Do you guys code? I am curious to know if the memory problem can be fixed soon. Why does it take more memory than other wallets? Growthcoin has a similar problem but it also uses more CPU than most, which isn't a problem with Bottlecaps.
I can code well enough to examine wallet source for shenanigans.
I don't have what I would call enough skill or experience to dev a coin. (My standards are high, I'd do a shoddy job)
To be honest I'd quite like to but it's a serious undertaking, which requires time. (hats off to Tranz et.al.).
The memory and cpu issues are inherited from the original code base they were cloned from.
Back in 2013-14 people were literally just tinkering with block reward / times POS rewards etc ... real copy paste stuff ... and launching a "new" coin.
They were all clones of something, ones with good, interested devs have evolved. Others survived, most perished - until this year when everything is creeping back out of the wood work.
Proof that crappy alts are like cockroaches, never quite dead enough.
The point is the original code base never really considered what happens 5 years later. Compound that by folks deciding 30 second block fast coins were a great idea ... massive "emoty" blockchain
interesting video
Shame in the video they didn't lay down some ground rules .. exoected % stake rate , reliability etc.
Caps is a solid coin in terms of reliable staking, it's been long forgotten in the hype /shill / pump your stash leagues but it's chugging along nicely.
I'll always have a big bag of caps, if only just for fun.
