Now I come to think of it, I have another:

You mentioned before something to favor large stakeholders, top 20 I believe. To allow them higher split/combine levels. To make it easier for them just to stake away without the need for manual recombining all the time. Something quite valuable if you have a lot of coins that you don't want to see splitting until you end up having many thousands of small separate blocks.

So this would be my idea:

Defining a large stakeholder as any single address which holds >1% of the money supply. By this time it means just about the top 20 but because its related to the money supply, it will grow along as we develop.
Premium: I would suggest a Splitting/Recombining privilege that enables the large stake holders to limit their amount of blocks to an estimate of 500, corresponding with a Splitting/Recombining level of 0,2% of their wallet size.

Example:
Lets say you own 100Kcap on a single address and the money supply is 7000Kcap. In a case like that you would qualify for being a large stake holder (100/7000 = 1,43%).
Now, for being a large stake holder, your split/combine level shifts from a max of 20 to 0,2% of 100K which is 200. A pretty nice advantage I would say! Never more than 500 blocks and less need for manual recombining, serving the consensus function of POS as well.

I am really curious as to what everyone thinks of something like this.

I do plan to add the split/combine threshold to RPC command as well as start up. This will allow some of the additional control you have mentioned.  May not make it for 2.3, but shouldn't be much further behind.  Perhaps even to the gui later as well.

Hey Y'all - I've been throwing some icon ideas together on Github:

https://github.com/izzzaya/bottlecaps-iconography

I've included some of the visuals created for @bottlecapsbuzz on the Tweeter.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

zzz

I think these are pretty good.  The only one I am not a huge fan of is  cap_32x.png and cap_32px.png, otherwise I do like them.

@5ick3uffalo

Can you be more specific? What do you man by classic design?

Hard to explain because english not my first language.

These where kind of flat. A good example would be Blackberry World OS10.2.0 icon  Compared the new OS10.3.0 Cheesy

and OS10.3

The old one is more "classic" style, more 3D like, the new style is more "flat"

Sorry for crappy english, wished i could explain better.

But i think the Blackberry OS example made it clear Cheesy

Exciting. And nothing of any urgency. You put in so much time. A great deal of people owe a great deal to you!

Instead of debating the primary brand identity icon lets focus on the rest of the wallet, how about Font Awesome?

I'm not sure if the .SVG format can be used in a wallet but it would make 'skinning' and color modification much simpler.

then you might want to delete your peers which you are now most assuredly using and try resynching again because they do not work.

regardless - someone else had posted their peerinfo and that worked for me which is what I needed since the three nodes posted do not work any longer.

HYP is getting a lot of attention these days.  Considering much of what makes HYP work well is that it is based off so much of Tranz's excellent work with HBN and CAPs.  I think it would be great if now we could borrow from HYP and add their THEME/SKIN ability for the wallet to CAPs.

I think this would be awesome for CAPs and would allow some great creativity.  I think the Bottlecaps framework can capture and cater to the tastes of multiple groups.  Having themes allows this in a way that deciding on a fixed set of icons and graphics doesn't.  For example I see Bottlecaps being attractive to two very distinct groups.

1) There are those from the Fallout crowd that like the dark post apocalyptic look and feel (myself)
2) There are those that like the retro 50's funtime non threatening edge to a high tech cryptocurrency (still think this is the most marketable to people outside crypto and gaming).

Yes HYP has had a close relationship with Tranz, and his work. The fork from TRK->HYP was inspired by the BottleCaps fork. Also s4c/autosavings has been used from Tranz's code. Most of the rest is unique development that me and a few others have put hard time and work into. And of course you all can borrow the ability to use our theme code. ZeeWolf (who made this code) tried to commit it cleanly so that others could use. And I do think it would be best if you did not use our actual themes though, but design CAP specific ones  Smiley

I'm in neither of those groups.
  • I see BottleCaps being attractive because they're an embodiment of Einstein's quote:
    Quote
“Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it ... he who doesn't ... pays it.”
  • I believe the reasons people venture risk with Altcoins is to multiply BTC without mining it:
    Quote
People don't want to buy a quarter-inch drill, they want a quarter- inch hole.
Most Altcoins try to sell the quarter-inch drill - BTC, or valuation in BTC, is the quarter inch hole most seek.
  • I understand the potential of BottleCaps brand identity. Simply naming a crypto-thing, 'Ephemera Coin' or some equally magical name, connects to the Broca’s area and Wernicke’s area of the brain. BottleCaps are REAL and sensory data attached to real objects, (sight, sound, touch) allows for a much deeper connection outside of the areas associated with the written word.

I don't play video games, I'm not a callow luddite, and I'm invested to the tune of 350k CAP.

So default gray for you?  Grin

Not sure what your overall point is.  Are you arguing against themes?  I said that the Bottlecaps framework has appeal to multiple groups.  I gave examples of two that came to my mind, I did not say those were the ONLY groups.

Btw a person attracted to a nostalgic 50's theme, when people actually collected Bottlecaps, is not a luddite.  A luddite is someone that makes a point of rejecting labour saving machinery or technology.  A luddite wouldn't care how Bottlecaps was branded or if it had themes or not because they most likely do not have a computer.

No argument at all just a different point of view. We are of one mind on the wallet - I'd love to see function and form added to the wallet. Font Awesome is Open source scalable vector graphics - color can be manipulated by code - no 'hard' images to modify and icons can match any color theme. I LOVE the wallet! My favorite feature is that it's changed my behavior patterns; I dont check on the coin markets anymore - I dont even care what the CAP/BTC exchange rate is - High PoS has given me freedom to stick a reminder on my calendar to unlock my wallet for stake dates, multiply coin and then go back to my non-crypto life with even more BottleCaps, (Thank you Tranz!). I'm going to try the raspberry pi wallet next to further reduce wallet interaction.

I apologize that my points of contention and descriptive language came across as confrontational. The year BottleCaps launched venture capital put $92 Million into BTC. This year VC has invested over $268 Million into Bitcoin. I've read every post in this thread and understand that the 'fallout' association is strong but I am not willing to believe that someone entering the Cryptocurrency space will seek out a 'coin' that reminds them of a steam game. I also do not believe that someone spending fiat on BTC will in turn seek out some nostalgic representation of the 50's - those present in the 50's are collecting social security and are into or entering retirement age. If my stockbroker or bank promised me a guaranteed 200% growth I would question the legality of it but here we have it in Proof of Stake. Independent of CAP/BTC value I see BottleCaps as a growth opportunity. I can build out hundreds of hypotheticals about the future of BTC and cryptocurrency in general but widespread public adoption is out on the horizon. The VC money is coming in, I see hints of general cultural awareness, and I continue to patiently increase my Coin.

Same here, it shows a little more than there actually is in my wallet. Maybe the CCE-dev could check it out? It's not a big diff but it's nice when it's corresponds. As far as I remember it has something to do with orhan blocks. Not sure there.

HYP is getting a lot of attention these days.  Considering much of what makes HYP work well is that it is based off so much of Tranz's excellent work with HBN and CAPs.  I think it would be great if now we could borrow from HYP and add their THEME/SKIN ability for the wallet to CAPs.

I second presstab and ENCOURAGE Bottlecaps to borrow. Truth be said, some ideas for HYP comes straight from CAP and I credited CAP and Tranz on the wikia, like for HyperSend ('Although the name itself is particular to HyperStake, the idea originated in Tranz's BottleCaps under the name autosaving"). Some example use cases also come from CAP.

Monero: the first crytocurrency to bring bank secrecy and net neutrality to the blockchain.HyperStake: pushing the limits of staking.

High POS HBN-CAP-TEK-HYP Inflation update

So how are we doing inflation-wise in October? Are thing evolving as expected or not?

First HBN, 100% POS with POW.

Date       block           supply   Inflation
1-6-2014   898413   4629448   12,7%
1-7-2014   988559   5068546   9,5%
1-8-2014   1080369   5521192   8,9%
1-9-2014   1173120   5985846   8,4%
1-10-2014   1262548   6467925   8,1%
1-11-2014   1357005   6990000   8,1%

I couldn't catch the exact supply and rely on Tranz's estimation. It shows the lowest inflation of all which is quite stable as well. October shows no decrease though. Could be because staking efficiency has improved a bit since splitting and recombining level is raised to 5/10. Could also be because October has 31 days Smiley. We'll see what next month brings!

CAP, 200% POS with POW

Date       block           supply   Inflation
1-6-2014   476848   3680285   7,6%
1-7-2014   519426   4046888   10,0%
1-8-2014   565946   4812616   18,9%
1-9-2014   613331   5583618   16,0%
1-10-2014   662054   6367469   14,0%
1-11-2014   713617   7311008   14,8%

Quite steady as well, as mentioned before, rates rised after 4-7 hard fork but decreased al little soon after. Now we see a little increase. We have to await until next month to see if it's a new trend or not.

TEK, 500% POS with POW

Date       block           supply   Inflation
1-6-2014   382532   986066   37,9%
1-7-2014   425505   1349745   36,9%
1-8-2014   469608   1830289   35,6%
1-9-2014   514595   2113023   15,4%
1-10-2014   569714   2421990   14,6%
1-11-2014   621243   3138853   29,6%

As expected, TEK almost returned to pre-fork levels once more. The after-fork-simultaniously-staking pressure brought down the stake percentage quite strong but only temporarily as it now seems. It likely to assume that next month the inflation level is up and above 30% again.

HYP, 750% POS, no POW

Date       block   supply   Inflation
1-8-2014   44901   10557791   24,4%
1-9-2014   74355   14826453   40,4%
1-10-2014   103019   22309537   50,5%
1-11-2014   132376   34665433   55,4%

Last month shows an increase of the inflation of HYP. It only means the staking is getting more and more efficient and produces a stake ever closer to 1000 which is the max stake for this coin. Since the stake percentage isn't decreasing with stake weight, it's fair to assume that inflation will eventually level out and then decrease much like a POW-coin with a 1000 block-reward. The thing that really surprises me though, is the absence of strong price-erosion due to this enormous inflation thus producing an impressive market cap. A most interesting experiment indeed.

To escape some of the volatility, I took more than just last week in consideration but you are quite right, it seems to start to erode after all.
