Does anyone have a noob friendly link to install the QT wallet on Ubuntu 12.04? My little linux box has a decent UPS and I'd like to move my staking wallet to it. Thanks in advance... ~rgm Easiest to compile you own. This guide should work pretty well. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=212621.msg2233135#msg2233135Some of the dependencies are newer then on the guide, ie boost is in the 1.5s now, but it should work. Just try to get a more recent version. Let us know how it works out.

Wow - 886k and 12 BTC in Volume today...News?
Nothing I know of. My guess was a big wallet dumped a bunch of coins, and then bots came into the trading to play around for a bit.

Nothing I know of. My guess was a big wallet dumped a bunch of coins, and then bots came into the trading to play around for a bit. Wouldn't it be great if we could have trade volume like that all the time. It was interesting to see that dumps were met with buys with the result a pretty much steady price through the whole thing.

Yes it would be, high liquidity is important to growth. Plus a good trader could make a nice dime trading that much volume with 20% swings.

FYI. My virus scanner just flagged my windows bottlecaps-qt.exe version 2.2.0 as an IRC bot. I can assure you this is not the case, but the code does contain the ability to communicate on IRC. It is currently not active, as we use DNS seeds for network exploration, not IRC anymore.
In any event I just wanted get be out in front of it, in case anyone else saw this, and had a problem getting it to run. I simply allowed it as an exception and moved on.

Not sure if anyone else had issues with the wallet connecting to the network, but I did and decided to share my .conf settings. It took a while searching but I found a lot of nodes that connect and it gave me a good 12 connections over the 0 I had starting out. Simply add a new text file in your Bottlecaps wallet folder (for me it was c:/Users/MYNAMEHERE/appdata/roaming/Bottlecaps/ since I use Windows 8.1). Then rename that to bottlecaps.conf and say yes if it says it might become unstable. Next, copy and paste what I placed in quotes and save the conf file. Once you get this done I'd suggest exiting the wallet and then reopening it. Worked fine for me, hope it works for you guys also. rpcuser=username rpcpassword=password rpcport=8385 port=7685 rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcallowip=192.168.254.* server=1 daemon=1 gen=0 listen=1 addnode=50.137.233.14 addnode=69.10.44.115 addnode=192.64.86.238 addnode=70.98.114.237 addnode=2.101.76.175 addnode=24.255.59.102 addnode=199.192.205.46 addnode=46.4.24.69 addnode=176.34.210.88 addnode=72.23.76.121 addnode=92.25.145.140 addnode=94.23.29.195:50282 addnode=54.210.130.19:57111 addnode=192.99.37.139:48454 addnode=62.210.122.161:7685 addnode=72.52.131.70:36184 addnode=176.9.63.136:34576 addnode=178.63.47.207:52626 addnode=192.99.46.180:28151 addnode=148.251.126.241:18151 addnode=192.241.216.151:54946 addnode=68.232.186.171:54894 addnode=188.226.235.34:42932 addnode=71.175.81.45:51463 addnode=204.45.156.66:40287 addnode=204.45.156.66:40298 addnode=148.251.19.213:34678 addnode=88.74.97.119:44559 addnode=198.27.68.86:60726 addnode=204.11.237.235:48609 addnode=72.78.100.7:7685 addnode=94.23.16.195:58884 addnode=24.176.222.222:64960 addnode=46.255.168.83:65451 addnode=76.164.203.26:56195 addnode=178.193.34.211:56467 addnode=76.103.102.57:7685 addnode=24.4.45.219:45953 addnode=24.4.45.219:62740 addnode=192.99.8.7:34440 addnode=85.228.97.201:33416 addnode=174.95.104.194:61931 addnode=99.236.215.227:9276 addnode=76.25.177.188:56629 addnode=82.18.237.176:58274 addnode=97.116.90.94:63855 addnode=97.116.90.94:64313 addnode=174.55.191.118:51326 addnode=68.104.3.84:53131 addnode=5.135.139.202:33348 addnode=108.59.185.202:56505 addnode=92.42.160.251:54502 addnode=73.181.222.193:25276 addnode=128.199.135.188:51068 addnode=192.99.13.67:38478 addnode=73.162.63.60:2591 addnode=63.231.13.70:50412 addnode=68.106.16.219:49646 addnode=162.197.116.175:64963 addnode=99.252.24.247:47729 addnode=89.98.76.29:64907 addnode=63.231.13.70:52202 addnode=104.192.150.236:57952 addnode=173.216.58.184:54547 addnode=72.186.18.64:50454 addnode=99.90.231.140:52934 addnode=122.148.32.114:42584 addnode=122.148.32.114:59181 addnode=176.37.67.61:59576 addnode=87.98.148.246:57994 addnode=198.50.239.11:58240 addnode=83.82.158.199:49596 addnode=50.76.237.74:40828 addnode=50.76.237.74:55109 addnode=213.21.33.12:36950 addnode=62.228.8.254:34813 addnode=72.202.128.75:63275 addnode=73.26.242.123:62263 addnode=96.243.212.109:52397 addnode=86.18.76.197:7685 addnode=68.195.32.18:2413 addnode=71.236.71.3:52508 addnode=193.71.56.74:8505 addnode=192.157.253.173:7685 addnode=83.162.196.192:41461 addnode=65.24.235.56:33475 addnode=99.28.127.102:44469 addnode=179.98.160.122:58094 addnode=46.21.154.83:49842 addnode=69.17.241.165:45331 addnode=198.50.238.171:38431 addnode=89.15.125.66:65290 addnode=65.6.124.208:14340 addnode=24.96.235.190:58121 addnode=63.231.13.66:7685 addnode=98.71.199.160:60286 addnode=217.122.84.6:52274 addnode=124.148.58.197:28859 addnode=98.226.232.161:62671 addnode=24.98.129.68:58069 addnode=109.235.190.6:63684 addnode=86.149.200.223:51731 addnode=89.164.246.3:50376 addnode=94.228.207.187:56253 addnode=77.197.36.83:60798 addnode=99.238.196.59:49626 addnode=76.90.104.41:48807 addnode=60.245.64.162:56615 addnode=189.217.92.62:21937 addnode=70.210.193.78:2560 addnode=84.184.14.133:52168 addnode=85.140.37.37:59560 addnode=108.35.232.120:51345 addnode=81.230.13.162:57537 addnode=50.155.95.201:36312

Thanks Tranz. Will give it a try tonight. Just for interest sake, can one use the same blockchain files that I already have on windows or will I have to let the linux wallet sync from scratch. (i.e. same file formats or different?)

(i.e. same file formats or different?) I am not sure if they are compatible or not. You can at least use the blk001.dat renamed to bootstrap.dat and put it in place in the appdata directory before you start the client.

I am sure I remember that there was a post in this thread with instructions for compiling a Raspberry Pi version of Bottlecaps. Finally got the Pi but now with search disabled cannot find the post with instructions... Is it any thing different than the instruction just posted for compiling a wallet on Ubuntu? If so, if anyone has the Raspberry Pi instructions bookmarked and can post a link that would be like totally tubular and rad.

UPDATE: Total chaos QT4 would not install due to dependencies. Trying to fix those completely messed up my system so now I'm doing a clean install. (known bug apparently from all my searches) Going to take a nap since I've been up all night trying to fix this mess and then try again PS. I did not even get to compile the wallet. All of this is probably due to my insignificant knowledge of Linux...

It took me 3 tries before I got it all correct for Windows to compile. Never had to re-install OS, but still was days before it was all setup.

(i.e. same file formats or different?) yes they should be, i've done this on other coins, and it works. Have not tried on caps though, i start client with -rescan afterwards too.

Update2: With a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 and following the guide provided everything went very smooth. I believe all my playing and changing stuff on the old 12.04 installation corrupted packages which was the cause of all my drama. Linux wallet is now synced and should start staking within the week. Thanks to all that provided input ~rgm

Yes you can still solo, assuming you have the hash. The addnodes are a bit out of date, but you can grab as many as you need here: http://cap.cryptocoinexplorer.com/peerinfo (the port should be omitted). Otherwise it is a standard solo mining config.
