I really don't think about ethereum overtaking bitcoin both are good cryptocurreny and are at a high price either of the two you will earn money. Just think of investing in both coins and see if you earn the same.

Although everything can happen in crypto-currencies, but it will be very difficult for the ethereum to catch up with bitcoin, because bitcoin is the first coin and has the status of a symbol of the whole crypto world as a whole!

For me, one major marketing issue with Ethereum is its name. In my country, ether is illegal. Compare that to "Bitcoin Gold" or Bitcoin Cash"...

I don't really think that Etherium will be able to overtake Bitcoin.... I've been hearing that almost everyday and still bitcoin remains in the top unchallenged, Bitcoin is the King of Cryptocurrency and bitcoin is the founding pillars of crypto currency it had already existed before the crypto currency craze and it is still remains. Etherium however had been replaced by ripple in the second place but it was able to take back its position in the second place... so with that being said, Etherium will just remain in the second place or evern lower but it could never replaced the first place where the Bitcoin stands unchallenged.

In my opinion, people are beginning to understand that bitcoin is technologically far behind other crypto currencies. Therefore ethereum has a good chance of taking his place.

that would be possible because we all know that etherium is the best altcoin, but for now I couldn't tell that etherium could surpass bitcoin because bitcoin is always be the first place, though everything is possible.

The block size is both high and this is a flaw.I think new currencies can be replaced (high fee)

Of course, in the modern world, a transaction must be executed in seconds. Time is too expensive to spend it waiting for the transaction to complete.  Smiley

Indeed, and that is BTC's major flaw at the moment. But for many investors crypto is still a synonym for BTC even with all it's tech limitations. ETH might close the gap to BTC in 2018 but won't overtake it.

The main reason for Bitcoin's domination is mining and the idea of multiplying it.In the future,it probably can not stay stable.

In the next year ETH will overtake BTC as the number 1 cryptocurrency.  I would unload your bitcoin while you still can.

I'm not sure it can happen bro. It's hard to overtake the already very popular bitcoin and be in the first place. If that happens, maybe the crypto world will come back from scratch again.

There is a good chance for Eth to overtake BTC in this year or perhaps in the next few months. As an investor, we will evaluate the ROI on BTC and ETH and decide which to put more cash on.

At this moment, BTC needs to go to above 20k for us to get back a 100% returns while ETH needs to hit 2000 to get similar returns. What are the odds for each that decides what investors will put their money on.

Once can argue that ETH now has a better brand name than BTC and with institutional money coming into the space, I would say that more of these money will flow into ETH. Furthermore with the closing down of bitcoin mining in China, there is a lot of uncertainty in BTC.. whereas for ETH, the mining is more decentralized and it is also moving to POS soon.

POS will be attractive to investors, esp those with big amounts to stake. A big brand name that gives returns for staking and these returns is based on the amount being staked... this sounds like a blue chip stock paying good dividends. Institutional money will definitely be grabbing some of this..

Ethereum is a good name that might be popular like bitcoin without all the negativity that mainstream attached to bitcoin.  Bitcoin is more established though and if ethereum  will overtake it is still subject to argument.

Ethereum is a promising coin, given that most of the icos are launched under its platform but that won't mean that's enough to overtake the place of bitcoin.I think it will not happen but If it does it would be financially fantastic for us
Why do you think so? I think that bitcoin it's old-school crypto and now Etherium currency of the future. Since he has a clear concept of development and all ICO are connected with Etherium and most transactions will be in it.
