Sometimes yeah. Usually only a few shares over though. You can minimize this effect somewhat by specifying custom min/max share values for altslicescheduler. Example: --scheduler=AltSliceScheduler --altslicesize=100 --altminslicesize=30

Yeah if slush is under the threshold when scheduler reslices and you have several other slices then it will empty all slices irrespective of threshold limits. I have 155.4% efficiency at slush with AltSlicer so it can definitely work.

Is it possible to run bitHopper on port 80 so I could bypass my companies firewall without having to tunnel it ?

yep there is a -- port option or i think you can change it inside bithopper.py if you want near the bottom er so make a batch file or run it bithopper.py --port 80

I was thinking and perhaps some of you already do this.. not sure how the pool op would feel. but with at least mtred you could have a prop account to hop and a PPS account as backup and it would appear like we come back at times for the long blocks. and in a way, we would be helping ourselves get back to a short block if we were using them as backup... which would mean noone else is under 43% and wouldnt hurt like mining charity.
You'd have to create a second account as they do pps or prop by main account and not worker.
and make a copy of [mtred] in both user and pool.. named [mtred2] or something else. also change the pool name or it screws with the hopper
it would be better than mining any of the other backups.. no? and we can do that with btcpool24 as well for a backup backup... though I'm not sure if btcpool24 is a scam or not but they make it easy as all you need is a second worker.

actually from their reddit page Someone had asked why pps was fee and prop wasn't. It's fee less for now but cant promise that it wont change. but mtred pays les than say ars mtred at 0.0000246189788758 ars 0.000026472020 but close enough for me and plus it would help us get back to 0% with mtred but I pay every pool i mine 1% i figure this would make a pool op miss us were he to chase us away

Using Altslicer, Slush currently on 14%, still requesting work...
EDIT: Stopped it manually at 18% as I'm heading out and don't trust it to stop on its own. Regardless, it's not quite working as intended yet.

Did anyone see this about MtRed going stealth: RedditorRex(Pool Admin) 1 point 1 day ago
We might be implementing an hour wait on found blocks, but till will remove round shares info and current round duration info. So we will see how pps turns out.

Try mining slush with role:mine instead of mine_slush and penalty set to 4.0 That should make it act like a normal mine only it will hop off at about 11%

Well, with about ~100-150 GH/s at hand we can also threaten PPS pools to code in a function that checks for winning shares and withholds them... Would be interesting to code but a kinda shitty thing to do (and also help nothing in pool hopping - the only way to migitate would be using a more secure way of doing getworks, preferrably like p2ppool, where miners can choose their transactions).

@simonk Thats normal. generally miners are lazy and may drop lp connections as there own protocols time out. If your mining client barfs though when recieving an LP then there is something wrong.
Withholding winning shares. The issue is it hurts us as well. A winning share has the payment to the pool encoded in its data. Its impossible to change that and still have it be a winning share. So you make less money.

Why is my bithopper mining on eligius(backup) when bitclockers is on 28%? It mined bitclockers for a bit but then it changed to a red font color in the stats screen and went onto eligius, but nothing appears to be wrong with bitclockers..

manually set it to mine bitclockers and watch it all fall apart. I get around 20 to 50% stale from them, and 0.5 to 2% everywhere else. Look at the last few pages for details.
