100 confirmations is simply unnecessary.

hopefully they get it down to at the least 50 or so...

Going to take forever to do any deposits of NXT if this continues...

Everything is confirmed already...they transferred my NXT to their main account like an hour ago...lol  Cry

nxtion.com update

Okay guys! Smiley

Another update regarding nxtion.com!! Smiley

I changed a few things. Now you don't have a backslash (\) before every ' or "

Yesterday I announced that if at 8pm everything still works fine I will make the first 100 shouts free! Smiley

So now it's ready. I will open 100 shouts to you. For this you simply need to register a new account or login to your existing one. Then you will see a new section called "Free shouts (xx left)". There you have to enter the message you want to add to the blockchain.

Click on "Publish free shout" and you are finished. Smiley

All free shouts will appear on the account "100freeshouts".
Link: http://127.0.0.1/nxtion/profile.php?s=100freeshouts

This is too see if there are really no problems so far. I hope everything goes well.

You are not able to send free messages from YOUR account. Because that would require big changes in my code.

I just hope that after you see it's working you can send your own messages. Smiley

100 confirms would still be way quicker than Bter, they take an upwards of 6 hours to process deposits in my experience.

question for the client keyphrase generator tool

current approach is this:

user choose a standard password he can remember easily.

1. string -> ThisIsMyPassword (could be low entropy)

client generates a random high entropy suffix like this.

2. string -> jJHJK-hdUhjh8786d345645&%43456/(&598/_.#+\=9jgh

3. user choose entropy-separator -> ___ ( in this case 3 x underline or choose whatever he want )

client join this into: ThisIsMyPassword___jJHJKhdUhjh8786d345645&%43456/(&598/_.##+ß=9jgh

3. client offers to saves just suffix into a recovery file. ( in case recovering is nessesary)
4. user stores complete keyphrase into preferred location/procedure as usual.

user has only to remember password and entropy separator to recover keyphrase.

the keyphrase generator is just a recommendation to use and optional, of course the user an choose
any individual keyphrase. does this makes sense?

YES !
+1
This is analogous to an encrypted wallet.dat. You need to know your password to open your wallet, which in turn houses the high entropy secret key to your account. Basically you are salting your crappy, easy to remember password with a high entropy key. I like it because the user is not handling the secret key directly on a day to day basis (i.e. typing it in or copy/pasting from a file), so key loggers are thwarted. And, like an encrypted wallet.dat, theft of the secret key file is not enough to gain access to the account.

Is the entropy separator really needed? I mean, does it really provide any gain cryptographically, or is it just one more tedious thing for the user to remember?
I would focus on keeping it as simple, but effective, as possible. I would argue that just concatening the user's password with the high entropy secret key is enough to make it work.

This setup would be similar to a computing system asking for your user name but auto filling your password. The one disadvantage I see is that the user must understand that they no longer follow a brain wallet approach. If the high entropy secret key is corrupted or lost, poof the Nxt is gone (same risk as losing a BTC wallet.dat).

Be sure to take a look at truecrypt's approach to generating a secret key. They use mouse inputs to help randomize the key generation.

NXTarea.com update - Arbitrary Message Explorer

My next update for today is the Arbitrary Message Explorer. There you find EVERY message which got sent to the network so far. You can also search for specific accounts which sent or received arbitrary messages.

The link: http://nxtarea.com/amexplorer.php

Though this is not the biggest feature I would also like to participate in the AM contest with this script! Smiley

I hope you like it.

Earn interest on BTC, LTC and PPC account balances
We now pay interest on BTC, LTC, PPC, NVC and WDC account balances, they are paid multiple times every day. Check out the help for details.

does this mean vircurex is doing fractional reserve? one would think the community would be in horror over this. im not one of those hard line anti fractional reserve guys myself but i know a lot of people in the bitcoin community are.

its exposing nxt to a huge amount of new capital that it was previously not exposed to. definitely bullish imo.

Great work, this would potentially enable a feedback system, whereas buyer can send an AM to seller with positive or negative feedback.

So... any updates from those testing the NXT Asset Exchange?

Probably why CFB is MIA for last few days, or he's on a weekend ski trip.
