...
I couldn't care less what the price of Bitcoin is relative to the dollar, it could be 1 US dollar per bitcoin or a million dollars per bitcoin, it makes absolutely no difference to me whatsoever...

Welcome to the new business lounge. Wine and cigars are on the house.

https://www.tradingview.com/v/roPAVFgJ/

GLD (candlesticks) is the paper gold exchange traded fund in the US. (edit 12/12 - correction)

From this charts aspect, BTC led price down till Oct 6th and GLD is now leading price up to the present. Bitcoin also didn't fall for the 7% price swing overnight like gold did from that Swiss vote. You don't see the 7% swing in the paper gold market because it's only open to trade during regular market hours unlike the futures.

That's a great chart you got there BitDreams. I didn't know such thing existed. The correlation is obvious even though there are some inconsistencies. I'm curious what will happen when the BTC/USD picks up the pace. Wink

Nice chart. I'm curious what it looks like farther back. Last year it must have been negative correlation, at least during the bubble formation in btc.

Regarding the chart, the correlation does not fit so well if you pick a 1 year time span https://www.tradingview.com/e/A9moXR92/ You should be able to change date range from that chart. It stands out best on the 6 month chart but actually looks like gold leads down from that point.

Bitcoin is sound money.

There is no smart money, there are only (allegedly) smart individuals who have some money. Their smartness in this case consists of ridding themselves of said money, exchanging them for something else that they believe will appreciate.

Sorry, I just like to have the nomenclature in order.

Here's something you don't often read: From Nasdaq.com

"Why Bitcoin's Stability In Volatile Markets Makes It A 'Must Own' For Long-Term Investors"

They would argue that this relative stability is a sign of maturity in the market, while those who look for the negative in anything to do with crypto-currencies would no doubt claim it is a sign of a growing indifference. To some extent, both may be right, but either way it is a good thing for Bitcoin’s long term prospects.

Of course, a trading range of 30 percent or so still represents enough volatility to keep even the most ardent currency trader occupied, but after establishing those levels of support and resistance BTC/USD has begun to narrow its own range and has spent the last week or so hovering around the mid-point of $370.

These periods have happened before and usually precede periods of high volatility.

Anyone saying 'Bitcoin is maturing' because: "volatility down, liquidity up" doesn't quite understand what he's looking at. Yes: BTC/USD volatility is slowly decreasing when looking at long timeframes, but the quiet period we currently see (last ~1.5 weeks) is just that: a period which will end.

I hope Estonian decision-makers see this. I am very troubled by the seemingly unfounded, unsensical and summary treatment of Otto. If the intention is to give the impression that the rule-of-law does not hold in Estonia, it has been given. I am awaiting high-level contact to ensure that there remains a possibility to continue building the Malla Bitcoin Center. If not, I am humbled that this development was regarded as such a big threat that the 2-decade old tradition of liberty in the country needed to be violated because of it.

Don't take it too seriously, though (everyone) Smiley We play a moment and then we die. And bad guys go to hell. The choice is yours.

After 19 months of reading this forum, for me this is the best quote so far! The essence of life Smiley

Another of the king's chief men, approving of his wise words and exhortations, added thereafter: "The present life of man upon earth, O king, seems to me, in comparison with that time which is unknown to us, like to the swift flight of a sparrow through the house wherein you sit at supper in winter, with your ealdormen and thegns, while the fire blazes in the midst, and the hall is warmed, but the wintry storms of rain or snow are raging abroad. The sparrow, flying in at one door and immediately out at another, whilst he is within, is safe from the wintry tempest; but after a short space of fair weather, he immediately vanishes out of your sight, passing from winter into winter again. So this life of man appears for a little while, but of what is to follow or what went before we know nothing at all. If, therefore, this new doctrine tells us something more certain, it seems justly to deserve to be followed." The other elders and king's counsellors, by Divine prompting, spoke to the same effect.
