I've never seen any of this...

op_null: kanzure: in this case, it's fairly obvious that darkcoin built a flawed system where every "masternode" must have an open socket for people to connect to. the realities of a distributed system means there's a financial incentive for people to attack other nodes. which is obviously undesirable.

DOSing other nodes will never pay more than it costs. You have to take down a node for 24 hours to make it miss a payment, that means you would need to dos 1500 nodes for 24 hours to double your revenue from $1 a day, to $2 a day. It doesn't make any sense.

If it ever becomes a problem I've outlined a way to remove the publicly open ports and use a routing system between nodes. It was first described here: https://dashtalk.org/threads/development-update-oct-1-2014.2561/#post-23222

As far as not around, they've been invited here. But they were only interested in paying me so they could attach my name to their project, not in actual technical discussions. In any case, I also prefer "omg guess what these idiots did" at least be directed to figuring out how to avoid the same mistakes elsewhere.

1: No one on the team has ever offered to pay gmaxwell money, nor extended an invitation to work with him. We merely referenced his work in our paper, before showing how we improved the strategy and made it more anonymous. I'm not sure why he said that, it's simply not true.

2: No one has ever invited me to their channel, but I'll take this as an invitation and start hanging out in there. Maybe that will help, it seems no one except a few people really understand what we're doing and how it works, including them.

They generally go a bit berserk whenever this project looks like achieving any of its stated technical objectives and moves itself on a notch in development.

Approaching 3000 masternodes is a pretty significant milestone when way back it looked like 500 was a major achievement.

Agreed!  I wish we had more developers helping out.  I hope the incentive from the proposal system paying developers will increase our work force.  I tried to learn to code, quit after about a week, LOL.  I knew it wasn't for me.  I'm more in the arts direction, and mechanical etc... not language of any sort!

a young startup/company/coin as ours needs time to develop
even if we had double the amount of Devs right now, i do not think that is necessary, in the long run yes, but for now we are all good
as we are still in the step by step stage
after that we can go "full power" (how i would call that)

i'm sure Gmaxwell, Todd and Andytoshi will be thrilled when they realize they are being manipulated by you, smooth, fluffypony, etc to try to pump Monero and discredit your competitor Ice.  Or maybe there is a good reason why you are all on their IRC literally fluffing the bitcoin core team for months trying to buddy-up and spout about how bad Darkcoin/Dash (your largest competitor) is and how the obvious conflict of interest with this coming from the Monero team never gets mentioned.  And you, a known confidence-trickster from the Hashfast scam and lead Monero evangelist, FUDing your main competitors thread each day...you seem to be losing touch with reality like any smart money will take a good impression of your coin from this and/or take you seriously...you should maybe think about getting some kind of help with anger management or take a break from the computer.  And these bitcoin devs won't thank you ultimately, no one likes being made to feel stupid or be conned to someone elses agenda.

It really is sad that these sorry individuals spend more time attacking and scheming then actually working on their own coin. Dash is flying high with development and interest, so these people feel the need to attack us. But you know what? The best way for them to get us is to improve their own tech, market it, and develop their own following rather than trying (unsuccessfully) to knock us down. Maybe one day they will realize this. Then again, maybe not, they are quite thick....

Your allegations of conspiracy are a ridiculous attempt at deflection.  Fact is, Dash is a scam and in no way competes with Monero's "good crypto."¹

I'm not cool enough to be on #Bitcoin-wizards; the comments made there and on Twitter about Dash's "bad crypto"² were unprompted and freely vocalized.

I don't have Peter Todd's ear; his criticisms of Dash's "snake oil"³ were not the result of any Vast Monero Conspiracy.  

I've merely brought their public statements to eduffield's attention by reposting them here.  Aren't you glad we're getting to the bottom of the issues?  Or are you ashamed it took a "troll" like me to get the ball rolling (because the Dash community cargo cult would rather circlejerk than respond constructively and substantially to critics)?

We have tor support currently, so it's not really high on the todo list. I think I would rather integrate tor directly, maybe support some seed nodes via the actual code so it's just a configuration option. That seems like a better option.
