Nice to see that the " Golden oldies "  ( DRK/LTC/BLK ) are taking over from the pre mined stuff on the exchanges again.

Guys im waiting for darkcoind to sync up... i setup masternode by my self, im kinda proud of my self because im linux newb Cheesy

masternode start PASSWD command is ready to start masternode Smiley

wish me luck!!!

p.s. after how much time my linux ip should show on masternodes list?

Good work there Rux! First one is always a learning curve, next one is learning how to update it quickly and reliably!  Wink Most of us have got scripts for that job, such as this:

./darkcoind stop
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin-binaries/master/darkcoin-0.11.0.13-linux.tar.gz
tar zxvf darkcoin-0.11.0.13-linux.tar.gz
mv darkcoin-0.11.0.13-linux/bin/64/darkcoind .
chmod +x ./darkcoind
rm .darkcoin/peers.dat
./darkcoind

Mine probably isn't the best because it doesn't back up the old files but the way I look at it is that if I want to revert to an older version just change the version number in the script and run it again... Different strokes for different folks!

Have fun!  Smiley

1 small tip! It took me wayyy too long to stumble across this, but you can paste multiple instructions (such as the entire set of commands above) into the terminal at one time and it will run through them sequentially! Combined with start-many, you can update 5-10 nodes in like 2 -3 minutes Smiley

This is what happens in cryptoworld https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBdhAywbgrI
Help me here guys, I am so pesimistic about crypto currencies. As much as I would want ot believe crypto will succeed, everyday i think more that it never be adopted.  Volatility is a killer, my friends just laugh about it... How can the volatility be stopped?  Can masternodes stop it? Orcouple of whales are needed to prevent wild fluctuation of the price?

Why do you see volatility as a problem ?

A problem for what ? Your friends ?

For a start Bitcoin is not "volatile". It cannot "disappear" or be "at risk" as debt based currencies can. What you're referring to is it's trading value against the dollar. That is not a problem in the long term and it's only a problem in the short term if you're day trading and take losses.

As far as it's "suitability as a currency" is concerned, the volatility in a particular market (BTC / USD) is only a problem if you're paying in one currency (BTC) and pricing in another, (USD). If you price and pay in the same currency then the impact of the BTC / USD market volatility vanishes.

You just haven't thought any of this through enough. I have some sympathy for your "laughing" friends because for someone not 'hooked into' the crypto world you would see things through the eyes of the US Dollar. That's like me putting a pair of green spectacles on and complaining about the colour of my eggs in the morning.

I don't really care if the USD dollar market goes to $99, $50, $500 or where it goes right now because the valuation is mainly speculative therefore the price doesn't tell you anything about the state of the industry.

Look at this piece of news...https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-exchange-coinbase-just-passed-2-million-users/

Do you really think it looks like this industry is "dying" ?

Have a read of this comment column remark which addresses some of your concerns:

This is right, I forgot to mention that I do this too. It's soo much easier, especially if you have multiple masternodes. The script above and start-many in my wallet has enabled me to update my MNs in under 1 minute, this includes testing they are live again too as I have another script to 'grep' the nodes in one go:

./darkcoind masternode list | grep X.X.X.X
./darkcoind masternode list | grep X.X.X.X
./darkcoind masternode list | grep X.X.X.X
./darkcoind masternode list | grep X.X.X.X

etc.

Keiser Report: Open Sources & Open Cesspools

In this episode of the Keiser Report from Mexico City, Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert discuss the claims that the Fed is like the blockchain. They also look at the proof that central bank intervention causes market distortion like mispricing of risk and misallocation of capital as currency traders go bust on 50 times leverage. In the second half, Max interviews big bank whistleblower and bitcoin entrepreneur, Jose Rodriguez, about cryptocurrency in Mexico.

Anyone care to address the implications of this question? If registration of Masternodes is required, the penalties for not doing so could be significant.

The real question in my mind in the Monero vs Darkcoin debate is:

Are Darkcoin masternodes Money Transmitters under FinCEN regulations? This is significant given that a significant number of Darkcoin masternodes are under US jurisdiction.

This is far from clear from reading the FinCEN rulings http://www.fincen.gov/news_room/rp/rulings/pdf/FIN-2014-R001.pdf and http://www.fincen.gov/news_room/rp/rulings/pdf/FIN-2014-R012.pdf. The situation for Monero is on the other hand clear given the existing rulings involving Bitcoin above, since there is no masternode equivalent in Monero that a regulator can regulate.

"FinCEN understands that Bitcoin mining imposes no obligations on a Bitcoin user to send mined Bitcoin to any other person or place for the benefit of another. Instead, the user is free to use the mined virtual currency or its equivalent for the user’s own purposes, such as to purchase real or virtual goods and services for the user’s own use. To the extent that a user mines Bitcoin and uses the Bitcoin solely for the user’s own purposes and not for the benefit of another, the user is not an MSB under FinCEN’s regulations,"

Sounds very clear to me, Masternodes are not MSBs. (I'm not a lawyer, take it for what it's worth)

Thank you for your response on this!

Based on the amount of money involved, at this point do you think talking to a lawyer would be a good idea? Should the community be raising some funds for that purpose?  Perhaps if there was more clarity on the issue, more people would consider starting masternodes (assuming they are permissible under the current regulatory environment).

I dont understand why u all think FinCen/NSA/CIA/FBI/VATICAN can stop masternodes? LOL and 2x LOL

if they can they would stop BTC back in 2011

so if you ask me...masternodes are unstopable...they shut down masternode server... no problem... i open again on another place, another continent, like someone said on MOON if i need too ...
