Darkcoin will shortly have the ability to fully confirm transactions somewhere in the vicinity of 20 seconds. This is versus Bitcoin's 10 minutes (in theory) that often ends up being much longer. > than 60 minutes for 3 confirmations not being uncommon.

Watch this short video of lead developer Evan Duffield demonstrating it:

Well done for finding it and kudos for reporting it.

What sort of vulnerability are we talking here?

Evan, wow, thats news !!

For my non technical understanding, DRK works completely separate from these BTC issues correct ?

Excuses but don't really understand this re-forked from Bitcoin 0.9.3 thing but am a big DRK fan and try to follow

Yes it does, you need masternodes for instantx as they carry out blockchain locking... Which enables these super fast transactions..

Interesting. Bct down as soon as the forks appeared in DRK's blockchain and returned once they have been solved. Seems legit

Well, I would love to hear a theory.
I see three possible options:
1. Admins of BCT are very favorably disposed towards DRK and generated the blackout intentionally.
2. As soon as they saw the problem, the Drk Dev. team decided (and were able) to hack BCT, in order to prevent news from getting out, rather than devote their time to fixing the problem.
3. DRK loyalists with computer skills decided to hack BCT rather than help the Dev. team.
4. Coincidence.

My Evaluation:
1. Yeah right. Roll Eyes
2. History sure makes this one likely. Roll Eyes
3. Possible but unlikely. Huh
4. If this is true, then we must asume that VERY Powerful forces Shocked are working in DRks favor.

@miningpros not correct, if DRK's codebase is Bitcoin Core 0.9.3, that issues related to Bitcoin is also valid in DRK.

Correct.  And it has been patched in Darkcoin.

The vulnerability basically means that in the unlikely event that Bitcoin forks, the Bitcoin clients will experience the same crashes that the Darkcoin clients experienced during our recent fork.

In other words, it was Bitcoin code that was causing the node instability rather than the fork.

EDIT:  Whilst Bitcoin forks are very rare there has been an increasing amount of discussion about a Bitcoin hardfork to make some changes at some point in the future. Even if this issue had gone unreported I'm sure it would have been found in pre release testing.

That last part is speculation, I am glad Evan found it and reported it, it shows how DRK can contribute and all crypto can move forward together.

Hey guys,  do you think today is a good day to buy BTC? I need to get some coins and was going to do it today, but BTC has gone up 11% in the last 7 days and I wasn't sure if it was due for a little correction so I could wait or it was OK to buy at these prices? Just looking for opinions I will ultimately make my decision.

this is a 3d trinity knot/ celtric knot.  (took half an hour and 2 coffee to recreate this in 3d... the coffee to prevent the headache, this geometry is not that simple)
Found that text about it:
"the celtic knot meaning or symbolism of the three-lobed Triquetra or Trinity knot is the inter-connection of the three planes of existence: mind, body, and spirit"

I really enjoy your work Raptor, that looks great. What's even better is the symbol used.  The "Trinity" name falls more in line with, in my humble opinion, the direction in which DRK should consider if ever the name were to be changed. I'm not trying to start another debate by any means, I'm merely expressing my opinion. It's well documented throughout this thread where eveyones feelings are related to the name changing subject. But I have to admit, I agree with Coins101 on the fact that while DRK is more than adequate now, I believe moving forward for serious, professional use, a name that distinguishes its self away from all the other "****coin" names may be a good idea. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoy the direction in which things are going in and I don't pretend to know about things from a marketing stand point. I'm just a "blue" collar guy who's happy to post my opinion about my favorite hobby in my favorite thread. I will happily go back to lurking for the next 1000 pages now. 😄
Keep up the great work everyone!

Is the DRK network still experiencing issues? All of my Masternodes (running v11.0.11) give the following errors:
"errors" : "Warning: The network does not appear to fully agree! Some miners appear to be experiencing issues."

Any idea on how to fix this? My Masternodes haven't been really stable either, they keep disconnecting/crashing so I have restart them.

start with -reindex and remove peers.dat before doing so.
