What is your estimation to the new price range after a successful release?
not necessarily that RC4 will have an impact on the price short term, in fact a slight drop wont be surprising, I know that most people wont agree (I hope I am wrong)....before you tell me "but the price skyrocketed when RC3 was released" yes true, the price skyrocketed but not because of RC3 but because of a whale investing a shit load of BTC in DRK.... The price doesn't matter in the short term. What matters that is there are no critical bugs in RC4 and that users can finally send coins anonymously. Adoption and actual use of the coin begins at this point. +1 I am looking forward to seeing the blockchain become a fog, that will be the best PR ever. People that really have a need for anonymous currency will buy a little to try it. Exciting times ahead. Yes, there are many coins in the anonymity field, but most are just promises of anonymity. Being able to deliver is a completely different thing.

I think the new DarkSend approach is brilliant the way it sends coins out for the anonymizing process whether or not the coins were sitting in the wallet or had intentionally been sent. However, I'm wondering how they will gather legitimate volume information for traders. Sorry if this was a stupid question

Trading volume, is based on how many coins change hands on exchanges and that will continue to work the same. The Darksend+ feature is off by default in the daemon which is what exchanges and the likes use. So no worries. Edit: Just to clarify, you can Darksend+ coins to an exchange address so you are anonymous but they wont be running Darksend+ on their own system.

Traders worry about volume in DRK/USD or DRK/BTC markets, and those are not affected by Darksend.

i've been looking on this thread and the wiki but couldn't find a quick answer to this question:
what's the big picture of the timeline. RC4 soon is around the corner, and after that we go to a first stable release (say: a non-release candidate) on mainnet ?

Check out the last official announcement from Jul 30th. One of the things the dev team will be working on after RC4 is stable on main net is IP Obfuscation. https://darkcointalk.org/threads/development-update-july-30th.1924/

Any reason why you wouldn't just use the latest sphminer with x11mod as the kernel setting?

Thanks salmion - that's what I needed. Might be worth updating the OP so that Darkcoin noobs like me can find it easier? I've never compiled on windoze (I'm a Xubuntu user usually), so the binary is better for me. Just trying to make use of a spare PC & GPU I've got sitting around doing nothing...... Tinkering........ By the way, anything else I need apart from the AMD drivers? Been a while since I done GPU mining, seem to have gotten some brain drain since then......

Me neither......first time for everything I suppose...... if you are used to buntu you really should give PIMP a shot http://www.getpimp.org/debian based 64bit mulit algo support use "sgminer5 exerimental" profile for x11 coins that give me the best hashrate.

Google for SMOS or PiMP linux. they are special mining distributions, and you are up and running in like 10 minutes if you have a spare USB. Web based GUI, shell access if you want, no need to compile. saves time

Last time I checked, there were no usb wireless support. Are they support wreless usb now? Thanks salmion - that's what I needed.
