This is an entirely different thing - a decentralised rating system seems very complex and has not really been tried before. But one experiment that will launch soon is OpenBazaar - if it works there, we can copy from them, of course. The game channels as introduced, however, are fully secure even with disputes and without any trust - that's the whole point. It is so far mostly a theoretical concept, though, and I'm not planning on implementing them (especially not with custom rules) "soon". As hinted by HMC, it looks like Tau Chain could be used for that, though - but I know too little about it to comment further on that possibility at the moment.
I think that the more interesting application in the future is channels where the rules are predefined by Huntercoin. E. g., a fighting arena (snailbrain likes this idea, I think) or even really something like the hinted "infinite game world" stuff (although that is really more for a future where we have a cryptogaming foundation with millions of dollars of funding...).

I've now finished a more elaborate manuscript about the game-channels idea posted above: http://extra.domob.eu/gamechannels.pdfIf you have any more feedback, I highly appreciate it!

The stuff being discussed recently sounds cool. A lot of the conversation is over my head technically but I'm intrigued.

Would it be possible to switch Huntercoin to Mini-blockchain scheme like the one used with Cryptonite? I just don't see massive adoption which maintains decentralized fashion of blockchain (each user plays using full node) unless not only blockchain size goes down much but also syncing from zero improves dramaticaly. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=713538.0

The reward is currently 10 HUC per block (i. e., minute), with a halving every four years (same as Bitcoin). In the end, there will be 42 million coins (twice that of Bitcoin).

Yes, that could be done - but that's only one of the potential solutions. We'll probably not go that way, but instead stay as close to upstream Bitcoin as possible. I. e., we'll have Bitcoin's new pruning mode once my reimplementation is finished (it works already for syncing) -- this solves half of the issue, namely large disk usage. To get quick syncing, you can then either download a blockchain snapshot like the one at http://chain.huntercoin.org/ (which will be much smaller with pruning), or we can hope for UTXO commitments in upstream Bitcoin in the future.

I think the most important step to get a userbase is to be able to play it using a regular server.
A "blockchain.info" type solution so you can play it from your laptop/phone/tablet/whatever without having to jump through hops.

The 0.11 bitcoin qt, block pruning have they fixed it where you can send/receive bitcoins yet? Or is it still being used for a node only? Icon

Good write up domob. I think one of the use cases: is how combat works in the Final Fantasy games (the older ones) and also some oldschool RPGs. You move around the map and then you enter combat with the enemy (off map), in a turn based game (like chess). - An Update on the unity client - it has been updated to Unity3d version 5. One bonus is we no longer need the pro version, the personal (free version) works just fine. We do need to display the Unity Logo on startup though. I've tested on all platofrms except mac and it's all working, just waiting for some small bugs to be fixed and i'll release it. - some more bigger news hopefully coming around New Year

some more bigger news hopefully coming around New Year The only news Huntercoin needs is simple to install wallet that does not require days to sync to current block height. That means an archive with the latest wallet(s) and a blockchain, not two separate downloads and a need to mess with where to put what. A complete noob should simply download one file, extract it and then after a bit of syncing start playing. Then the next step would be to simplify wallet, current one is too complicated and requires one to be a geek to use it. There is no way average computer user could figure out how to start playing without messing with forums and whatnot and that is a bad deal. Also, this community should put more pressure on Cryptsy to upgrade their HUC wallet else they'll delay it to infinity like with many other coins. Every time you are at Cryptsy send a request for HUC wallet upgrade, spam the hell of their support if neccessary. To developers: Continue working on stupid bots and overcomplicated wallets and Huntercoin marketcap might hit single digit. Maybe that is what it'll take for you to finaly realise you are on the wrong path here.

What are you doing about it? Feel free to contribute I mine LTC and they are asking for a Hunter Wallet address and all exchanges will accept the coin directly from mining, none exist for so whats the point to mine HUC, I understand to keep the coin in the gaming world, but how without tools? If I wanted to collect these coins and contribute them in projects for kids its not easy. So maybe pivoting your strategy abit may be good. I am the developer of UberPay a multicoin wallet, why not participate and help integrate HunterCoin in the wallet to give people some choice? Just a thought, I did not post a link because that is not my point, the wallet is available on google play!

Is there a reason for the past 3 days now i have had to reload the QT wallet? Seems i am losing connection to other nodes .. Case examples (node seems to be connected but suddenly stops receiving blocks) - Mint13 32bit (in Virtualbox on windows host): ~1000 hours since v1.3, works absolutely flawlessly - Old notebook (2GHz centrino duo), Windows7, connected through Tor: stalls about once per day - Same as above, but connected directly: stalls every 2 or 3 hours - Same as above, but additional load (like bitcoin node starting): QT wallet need restart, always. I think it's caused by a combination of Windows, system load, and possibly ISP-specific quirks. But it's a general problem, not limited to Huntercoin.

Maybe chrome doesn't support Mega links.
