Attention to miners:  BTC Guild is reaching a speed currently that can cause a lot of fear among the community, similar to the Deepbit situation in 2011.  I know a lot of the current speed on Guild is the result of Ozcoin going down yesterday.  I'm hopeful that many of those users that used BTC Guild as a fallback will be returning to their normal pool during the day.

If not, I would like to urge people to distribute their hashing power.  If you're using cgminer, you can still mine on Guild, but use the Balance option to split your shares between BTC Guild and a secondary pool.  I highly recommend both Ozcoin and Slush.  They both have a strong history of acting honestly and in the best interest of their users.

Thank you so much everybody for your support these last few days.  I'm trying hard to relax today so I can go back to work with a clear head.  For those curious about donated hashpower, right now it looks like somebody has donated some ASIC power to the worker.  My User ID is #1, and is currently at 135-140 GH/s on the Hall of Fame.  Only ~2.2 GH/s of that is mine until my Avalon (batch 2) arrives.  I am deeply grateful to those that have decided to do this, and I won't let you down!

I will donate coins, my workers need constantly monitoring via pool api which is only possible if they mine under my user.

With 11Th/s, isnt there any way you can force a double spend?
To be honest I never really checked bitcoin protocol to the point where I can imagine every tricks you can do with 1/3 of total hash power..

Done and done.   Cool

Throwing 2.2Ghash your way for a while. Hope you still recover your funds though. Thanks for all the great work you do for us(your miners) and BTC community!

Started up 2 new miners, named them accordingly, set them up the same as my current miners.

Problem is they are mining but not showing on my account, nor are shares being accepted.
What could I have done wrong?

I need a bit more information like a username/workername (can send it in a PM or email).  There's 14.4 TH/s currently mining on the pool with their shares being credited and showing up, and all server statuses are green, so something is likely wrong in your miner settings.

Maybe by "named them accordingly" he means he used the name you provided for donating? In which case I believe he shouldn't expect them to show up as his workers since they're actually yours.

how are we doing mining back your losses?

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.

5.6 BTC has been mined by users on btcguild_donate  .  3.62 BTC has been donated to 1GuiLdvH3YjJyEExyTmcd7X2nwX7pZvV7a .  So 9.2 BTC has been donated (either directly or as hash power) since it was made available.  We had 3 avalons (I think) mining on btcguild_donate yesterday for a few hours, which really helped out on the recovery.  As of right now the btcguild_donate worker is at ~1.3 GH/s.  Every bit is greatly appreciated.

At 14TH we could just make it all back in a few hours... But we might not all like that idea.

Make a signup on the btcguild site, at X day for X hours all mining done on the server will goto recovering losses. Signup or not.

This is the same thing already in place kinda..

I take responsibility for the mistake, and I've always felt that a pool that charges a fee on top of having a way to automatically donate felt wrong.  The users that donate are almost always the ones who aren't making much to begin with.  The users taking full advantage of the service with extremely high speeds rarely donate, so it's not fair that those users are subsidized by the significantly smaller individuals.  Note, this is going off what happened back in 2011 when BTC Guild was purely donation funded.  Only a handful of the top 25 even donated 0.1%.  I am not implying anything about the current top users, just relating the empirical evidence that I have.

That's why I've kept the donations/please help off the website.  Most users of BTC Guild are using a service that I provide, and just because something went sour in the background, it shouldn't invade their experience.  It took convincing from some long time users of BTC Guild to make me post any kind of donation method here on the forum.  I posted it only on the forums because I think many of the long time users of Guild who are more active and aware of what's going on would be in here.  We've built a relationship over the years as a service provider and consumer, which is why I've tried to keep the event transparent.
