Bittrex keeps saying, "Market Offline" - any idea what's going on there?

I was in the middle of withdrawing some OctoCoin to one of my wallets and had the same message a couple of times before it finally went through. Also had a couple of the cloud-flare screens. I guess they were getting DDOS'd and were checking everything to be safe.

At one point all of my various coins there were showing offline. Service still seems to be intermittent. Wish it would stabilize... I was trying to put in some buy orders at these bargain prices.  Grin

I have just recently became an Octonaut!! and believe this coin can really go places with some good promoting and getting it listed on another exchange such as Mintpal!! I've been voting OctoCoin nonstop on Mintpal and hope everyone else is too!! Also does anyone know when the 31 million coin POW stage will be hit?? I heard September was the time they were looking at that being accomplished and as for the price of OctoCoin right now it is sooooo undervalued its ridiculous!! If one of the Devs could possibly get ahold of me or let me in on what type of plans for the future OctoCoin has, it would be greatly appreciated as I would really like to see this coin going somewhere in the near future Smiley Thanks

The next block reward change, which is the 31 million POW stage you refer to, is due to occur at block 180655 which by my calculations is currently estimated to hit September 16th @ around 10pm GMT.  At this stage the coin will continue as POW but the block reward will be dropping from 88 to 80 and will then halve annually.

I agree that Octo is massively under-valued, probably because most people in alt-coins have the attention span of goldfish and want instant gratification.  At these prices, now is most definitely the time to buy, stash and hold!

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.

Oh I have no intentions on wanting OCTOcoin to be a get rich quick scheme and fully believe that it's a long term investment coin which is why I continue to purchase a little more and more everytime I earn some extra profits from the obvious get rich quick coins that are out there  Wink but as for the OctoCoin I believe that it will show some good long term potential and I am fully involved with the community and appreciate all the answers to my questions I had asked earlier Smiley Thanks again everyone and have a great Day!!

Woah simmer down there Cowboy!!! I ain't here to spread no FUD and the only reason I even have a negative rating is because being the newbie that I am I asked for a loan without realizing that people asked for collateral and then offered collateral but some people felt it necessary to deem me as untrustworthy and a scammer, which just shows the mentality of the good ol' CryptoCommunity ie. a bunch of people who hide behind their computers and judge people! I simply stated that I took an interest to OctoCoin and believe that the coin could be a good coin to hold long term.  But anyways once again EVERYONE have a super great day and such a pleasure talking with all of you Smiley

Yeah that's a pretty weak reason to give a negative trust rating; sorry to see the board would even allow that. More-often-than-not the trust ratings are pointless now.

the same way people shouldn't necessarily judge you or not trust you based on 1 negative rating, you should not judge the cypto community as a whole and say they all hide behind their computers and judge people.

do i think that a negative rating based on you asking for a loan without collateral is not that strong of a negative rating? yes, i think there's a difference because you asked something and they rated you negative. as of now you haven't ripped anyone off that we know of.

however, when it comes to people dealing with their money here in the crypto community, it's based on trust. you have to protect yourself and your investments. the crypto world has scammers and you are better off being very skeptical.

that doesn't mean all people are judging you. some might be more skeptical when they see that rating. if i were you, i'd create a new login without the negative trust and think twice before you ask stupid questions like asking for loans with no collateral. then with a fresh start you may get a different reaction from people when you start posting on a new sub.

just my opinion.

nonetheless you are a new face, so welcome to the octo community and good luck.

agreed. negative trust for asking a stupid question isn't that bad. it's ridiculous that you can rate negative when there is no proof of being ripped off.

nonetheless, i'd just make a new login and not have the negative rating... it does raise eyebrows still.

shouldn't there be a way to only escrow and rate that way? i don't see the point of having the ability to be able to give  a negative rating when there's not third party to confirm. that's not a true trust system. anyone can spread bs on someone with this type of rating system.

that being said, i'm pretty sure i could trade one on one with many people on this board based on trust earned just by being part of a community. it's such a weird tradeoff.

Thanks for all the kind words and the advice everyone Smiley I already knew this was a great community and I think I will take the advice of creating a new login then without the negative trust rating and just take this as a learning example of what "NOT" to do here Smiley I really appreciate the help guys and happy trading everyone Smiley

Enjoy it while it lasts! If you ever need to unload some for any reason (bills/etc) and don't want to dump it on the exchange let me know.

Also just wanted to say it's been about 2 weeks since I ordered jerky from Jay and it still hasn't shown up. He isn't a Jerky Bandit, is he?  Cheesy

Has anybody else received an order from him? If you were thinking about ordering you might want to hold off for a bit until we can confirm he's actually shipping the stuff.

Hey guys, I've tried to give the last few pages a quick skim over but I'll definitely have to read back up tomorrow. It's getting hard to keep up with the thread, moving quick! I'm sure I've missed out on some stuff but I try to stay current-ish! I saw the word hardfork a few pages back and had to do a double take and make sure I didn't miss an update. I sure would be mad at myself. It's 5:20AM and I'm just about to turn in for the... morning... so I'm a little rough around the edges. I try to give semi-regular updates on the goings-on on my end here, no bad news, at least! I've been talking quite a bit about getting my multipool up and running, but after lots, and I do mean lots of poking and prodding, testing things, writing a whole bunch of API stuff, driving myself nearly nuts, I'm just not happy with what I'm coming up with. There are, however, certain projects underway that I think are going to fit in much nicer with my overall vision of things (and my overall budget and development abilities, being a solo operation and all :b), so I think I'm just going to hold onto the happy thought "if you build it, they will come", and keep this thing on the back burner a bit whilst waiting for some other projects to take shape. Meanwhile, there's a great deal of other stuff going on behind the scenes, lots of tweaks and some security enhancements to all my servers, and tons of little projects I've picked up here and there that I've been playing with on my test server. Some of the guys were chatting in octo-chance the other day about wanting a slot machine. I just might actually have one soon! Much of the code I've been messing around with is Node.js (which is still new to me), so I've been trying to educate myself as quickly as possible, mostly through trial and error and breaking things in my test server, but I'm finally at a point where I've gotten my head around it so there should be some new toys for ya'll in the near future. One thing I'm very excited about is the LiveCode to HTML5 Kickstarter campaign, basically taking LiveCode and porting its runtime to Javascript so that any existing LiveCode app can run directly in the browser, its going to enable me to do all sorts of things I would've found too costly or time-consuming to do before, and if you're guessing that it has extremely serious implications for the future of my multipool plans or my love of setting up games for you to play, you'd be -mostly- right!

The pool has been chugging along pretty well lately. I don't watch the overall net hashrate too closely alot of the time, but we usually are running a decent chunk of the overall net hashrate some of the time so that's great! I haven't had any reports of anyone's payouts or shares getting eaten lately, which is good. Has anyone noticed improvements since I switched over the stratum to node? I'm running it on 2 pools and it seems to be working awesome for me. As always, I'm open to any suggestions or criticism, so fire away!

I'm finding there's been a strange pattern to the way things have been getting done lately. If I tell myself I'm going to get this, that, and the other thing done tonight, it doesn't get done. I get distracted and end up reading a CloudFlare blog or watching weird movies. If I decide I'm going to watch a movie or maybe play something tonight, I get distracted and get a ton of work done. What's up with that?

I need to remember to order some of that jerky, darn it, but its gotten me to thinking about a couple of batches I made about a year ago. Maybe I'll make a batch of mine someday soon. Its mostly crushed bhut jolokia, garlic, and marinade. And yes, you'll experience gastric distress, but if you love spicy stuff, pure ecstasy as well.

Anyway, I'm going to turn in. I can barely sleep without tylenol-PM, but the benadryl hangover tomorrow always sucks.

Good night! Cheesy

Somewhat enigmatic statement on Mintpal...

Important: Please be aware that we are phasing out the voting system. We have removed the option to make payment votes and will stop taking voting winners from 1st September onwards. The system will continue as normal until then.

Maybe this is a good thing, perhaps exchanges are starting to realise that the endless cycle of P&D's is harming alt-coins?

How are those plans / developments coming along devs?  Since democracy didn't work out for us maybe lobbying and diplomacy is the way to go?

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.
