DONATION ADDYS Cheesy

GOAL: $150 where $50 is reserved for paying for a patch/es for Gi uniform or MMA short and the $100 or anything over goes to Clay for travel expense to Germany for an all purple belt tournament.

If we reach the goal of $150 I will shoot a video at our gym where Clay can give his thanks for the Octo community support and you can see Clay choke me out!

You even get to vote! Which choke would you like to see Clay take me to night night city with?

Reply to this thread with the following options: Triangle choke, Cross choke (in a gi) or Rear Naked choke. Please only vote if you donate Smiley I'm not going to require that you post how much you donated with your vote so we are going on the honor system here Smiley

You can also include any suggestions for this or any future sponsorships.

Of course, you can use the blockchain to track the addresses. All Octo will be traded for BTC. All BTC will be sent to Coinbase to cash out. Screenshots will be provided to prove transparency. The thank you/chokeout video will show Clay receiving the full amount.

888: coming soon. i was having an issue with creating a clean address in the Octo wallet. i go to show addresses and create new. both "new" addresses were showing balances and transfer dates from may in amounts i was mining. after thinking about it at work this morning i know there is a check box that says "use prior addresses or old addresses" or something. i will figure out tonight and have a clean address.

"Real artists ship." - Steve Jobs.

Right... and looking through your post history all you do is complain. You complained about how long the hardfork was taking to implement and the lack of a new wallet... and then we got a seamless hardfork (which is surprisingly rare) that took care of the bonus block exploit, improved the difficulty adjustment formula, and came packaged within a great client built on the Bitcoin Core 0.9.2 source (there are still only 3-4 coins I'm aware of on the 0.9+ source).

In addition to a great client/source, OctoCoin has a strong and steady network, a mature community, a development team consisting of real developers (two of whom I've personally met), 4 months of well-written updates, a low-key teaser of their "OctoHub" platform (which, let's be honest, the SSL certificates alone probably cost them more than most coin developers spend). How many developers are even still around after 4 months these days?

If you think Steve Jobs took the iPhone from concept to shipping in 4 months you're insane. As a developer myself I understand that quality takes time. People in the crypto world are used to crap; with the possible exception of bitcoin services, are there any altcoin services out there that are both exclusive and of high quality? The security, testing, etc - I, for one, am glad these guys aren't obsessing over hype. They understand that constant hype is ridiculous and they want the product to speak for itself. Going back to your "Steve Jobs" quote, here is a tidbit for you:

Apple started R&D on the iPhone 1 36 months before its release in June 2007. The iPhone 1’s full R&D costs during those 36 months have been estimated at nearly $1.5 billion.

So real artists ship... but in Steve Jobs' case it took 36 months and $1.5 billion before he started shipping. I find it hilarious that you use Steve Jobs, a guy that famously delayed the release of the original Mac OS X desktop nearly 2 years to perfect the UI, as an example to reinforce your point. I don't think anybody believes the winning formula is to rush products to market... and certainly Steve Jobs didn't. If the OctoCoin team meets the ETAs they announced, that means they would be going for conception to "shipping" in about 1/6 the time it took Apple to start shipping the original iPhone. If anything, Steve Jobs would be a great counterexample for the point you are trying to make.

The timeframe seems like an eternity because you haven't seen any altcoins deliver real quality software yet - ever. This is an impatient market but those who have the maturity and patience to ride things out will be rewarded here. I am 100% certain that 888 is a great investment - the only thing stopping me from saying it's the best possible altcoin investment you could make right now is that there may be some other teams out there with great stuff in the works... but I've yet to see anything with this level of potential nor this level of appeal.

Not trying to be defensive (obviously I'm heavily invested in OctoCoin) but even objectively I just don't understand the purpose of your posts. If you are an impatient person, this is clearly not the currency for you. These guys aren't running a chop-shop/pump-and-dump/(insert grift of the week here) and they haven't stuck around for 4 months to make a couple thousand bucks and disappear. However, even for the impatient, 888 has proven some amazing stability - with the exception of only bitcoin, it has been the most stable coin price-wise over the past 4 months. Over the bear altcoin market these past 4 months, I can't find a single altcoin (even if you DCA) that would have been a better investment... and these guys haven't even started scratching the surface.

why do people always panic buy into sell orders when there's good news?
I mean, just placing a buy order on top would give them the coins much cheaper, no need to pay the spread

Side note: The voting sure did turn into a bummer on MintPal. Back down to 14... I know once the devs are ready to release their new apps there will be more marketing to go with it. This will promote the coin and more people will become invested, eventually getting it on MintPal due to demand, but damn it, I was hoping to get there by the deadline. I just don't think we have the numbers yet.

On a happier note, I got paid and Octo is cheap!  Grin

Mintpal is a bit of a bummer but in my personal opinion I've begun to prefer Bittrex and their trading volume is steadily increasing. Once Octo gets some traction Mintpal and Cryptsy will most likely jump on the bandwagon. Soontm

I agree.... As  much as we need the Volume from Mintpal or Cryptsy, Bittrex is turning into quite the trading platform. I honestly enjoy using it as much if not more than Mintpal. Although, one thing Bittrex annoys me with is it doesn't calculate the buy amount when you click the amount of Bitcoin you have available to trade. This is so annoying.

But yeah, Bittrex is fine for now. Mintpal will pick up Octo when Octo is in a position to make them money. Honestly, if you were to add Octo to Mintpal right now with no apps, you'd get a quick pump for a day or two and then most traders would forget about it. But, when they start releasing apps and services, it could change the perception and let the trading begin.

Bholzer was dead on in his statement.

Also, side note, I will update the 888 address for the sponsorship at some point tonight. I'm not sure how much, but I will start with my donation tonight!

You do know you can select 'Bid/Last/Ask' next to Price and then click max on the units level right? It's not quite as fast as just clicking your btc balance but it does give you the option to choose which end of the spread you want and enters the maximum number of units you can afford. If I'm teaching you to suck eggs please ignore me but just thought I'd say in case you didn't know :-)

Our prototype etched glass is, well, prototyping. The artist is working on his design but keeps scrapping it when he thinks it's not perfect...

We're looking at a run of machine etched sets (4 or 8 pack & these should be cheaper per glass and come in packs rather than individually but not be quite as individual/unique as the hand etched ones).

And on top of that we've had some major inspiration from djslick :-) Watch this space for the ultimate Pimp Chalice ;-)

Are a rough guide the prices and runs will be as follows:

Artist etched - 8 or 10 individual glasses. half sold at 15,000 888, half silent auctioned.
Machine etched sets - Probably 4 glasses in a set, 2 sets to choose from (or buy both) price is a bit of an unknown at the mo, but say 15,000 888 per set
Pimp Chalice - Very, Very limited. Hand made, probably maximum 4. These will cost us a lot to commission (approx $100 a piece) so could be pretty pricey, but like I said VERY limited. estimated 40,000 - 50,000 888

Regarding the price, we all know and expect 888 to go up in value so if you think you'll want one when they're ready I'd suggest buying up some cheap octo and putting it aside for a glass or glasses. Worst case scenario, we fail to make the glasses happen, you sell 1,000's of octo at a higher price.

Also we are looking to include worldwide delivery from the UK in the 888 price :-)
