Chennai won the first match of the tournament today. They lost four matches in a row. Today Royal Challengers Bangalore was a tough opponent. But Chennai gave a huge target of 217 runs. Robin Uthappa's unbeaten innings of 95 off 50 balls and Shivam Dube's unbeaten innings of 95 off 46 balls enabled Chennai to give such a big target.

It doesn't look like RCB has tried to win the match. They just wanted to reduce the run gap. Bangalore could have won if the top-order players could have played better. Virat Kohli and du Plessis did not play well today. Bangalore has lost by only 23 runs till the session.

So far, I am disappointed with the performance of Ravindra Jadeja as the captain of CSK. He is no match for MS Dhoni. They had a good outing yesterday, against one of the weaker teams. But their weak link seems to be the bowling. Payers like Mukesh Choudhary are in no position to fill the vacuum left by Deepak Chahar (the latest update is that Chahar has been ruled out for this season, due to back injury). CSK spent a total of ₹140 million on Chahar and his absence will have a huge impact upon them.

Lol RCB is everything but not a weak team. Panuti would be right term imo ( I felt they missed the Harshal patel yesterday, badly).

As far as captaincy goes, it's true Jadeja is no match for Thala but you can't point finger on Jadeja either. He's new at this role and this is the first time he's leading any team.

My worry is, captaincy taking a toll on his batting but it also happening with other captains.

Honestly Dohni is one of the greatest player sub continent has ever produced and you cant compare him with anyone. He is liked both as a player and as a human being. CSK is badly missing there ex captian as they just won first game of the tournament after 4 consecutive loses. If Ravindra Jadeja continue this form as captain then he will be rightly replaced in next season.

I also think that the TV rating of IPL has decreased due to the long schedule of IPL. There are now 10 teams in the IPL. It will take about two months for the IPL season to end. And so the spectators have lost some interest in the IPL. Probably the popularity of IPL and TV rating will increase in the knockout round. IPL is still the No. 1 franchise league in the world, even though the TV rating has dropped a bit.

Unfortunately, MI have lost the match. Punjab played good in this match. They scored a good total for winning the match. Mumbai started very well but they didn't able to play continuously by taking wicket in their hand. Unnecessary run out and some mistakes are important factors behind losing the match.

They kicked out Suresh Raina from the team, else he would have been a better choice compared to Jadeja. But still, I agree that no one will be able to replace Dhoni. LOL.. when he was the captain of the Indian team, I used to hate him. But now we got a pathetic excuse for a human being (Kohli) as the captain and I realize how valuable Dhoni was. Maybe the CSK management should talk to Dhoni and ask him to lead the team until a suitable replacement is found. He can mentor Jadeja until the latter is ready for the job.

Its because of Dohni good human character that he has huge fan following even in Pakistan. I think he made a wise decision of stepping down as Captain since he is already 40 years and CSK must look for suitable replacement in this season or next one. As 40 years old player cant play for long. Give Jadeja  few more chances may be he can improve.

We have seen his poor performance in the last few seasons. Mumbai's biggest weakness is that their bowling lineup is very weak. Apart from Bumrah, there is no other experienced bowler in the team. Mumbai Indians have lost every match due to poor bowling.

There are many things associated with overall revenue, TV rating is not the only that decide how much will be revenue. With 10 teams means more Matches and more TV hours which in turn means more revenue from sponsorship. IPL management have increased teams defiantly to increase the revenue.

In the other three matches, the opponents have been able to win quite easily by batting against Mumbai's target. Mumbai set a target of 162 against Kolkata. And Kolkata won the match in just 16 overs. It is easy to guess from this that Mumbai's bowling lineup is very weak.

Not sure about overconfidence but they did messed up their auction, specially not having any quality back up seamer. One of the reason they are not including 4th foreign player in the squad and after they dropped Tim David because of 6 batter + 5 bowler combination, they are playing with only 2 foreign players (Brevis +Pollard) and Pollard is out form too.

Batting lineup looks good to me tho, they have 3-4 inform batters atm Brevis +SKY+ Tilak (add Kishan too).
