As for Kevin Holland, you never really know what's going on with him, since he loves to troll the fans, and the fighters he fights. I don't think he'll be retiring, unless he's got a contract for boxing, since I wouldn't have thought he's made enough money in his career to retire just yet, when arguably bigger named fighters than him, with longer careers are complaining about the money they make, and basically being homeless in some cases.

I believe Chimaev claimed that or something along those lines, I know he lived in the gym that he was training at. So, no I don't believe Holland when he says he's retiring. Although, maybe he got a little extra on the side for accepting the fight against Chimaev, and basically keeping the event alive.

Oh..  And here I thought you just made that thought out of the blue.  I searched Kevin Holland and he is really giving hints about retiring...  Lol.  But you're right.  And it's also hard to take the guy seriously given his history.  He usually kids around a lot so I wouldn't be really surprised if he was just doing it for engagement and the lulz.

He prolly got paid some money but I doubt it's as big as what they paid Diaz.  At the post fight press conference Diaz says he lost count on how much the UFC paid him.

Kevin Holland is not going to retire at any point in the near future. In any case, I do not trust him at all.
There is no doubt in my mind that he is an absolute troll and that he is just doing this to get some sentiment out of people.

I have to say that Khamzat Chimaev once again came up with a dominating performance. A submission win in the first round.
Who is going to be able to stop this guy? I wonder who is going to be able to do that. I also agree with you that Kevin Holland probably did not get paid as much as Diaz did.

Anyway, I don't see any reason why Kevin Holland would decide to retire at this point in time. After all, he has had a lot more losses in his career than wins.

I tune into Bellator events now, and again. I do find them heavily skewed a lot of the time though, and if you check the odds they usually reflect that. I'm much more interested in sport in general when I've put together an accumulator, without it I wouldn't watch nearly as much as I do.

Bellator doesn't really make that possible, due to the matchmaking they seem to do. At least with the UFC, there's only the occasional landslide. For example, like the Nate vs Chimaev fight that got cancelled. I wasn't all that interested in that fight due to the matchmaking, but also the odds didn't make it exciting at all.

Bellator most of the time have an interesting matchup to watch and the recent one was the Bellator 285 with Yoel Romero VS Melvin Manhoef and it never failed me to watch that fight, well that Chimaev VS Diaz fight was going to be a one-sided fight and pretty much many are disappointed by it so the UFC has to think of a plan to scrap the match-ups by causing a ruckus and fiasco, I think Khamzat Chimaev is involved to this plan that he is not scared of doing such a thing and partly missing that weigh,

For me watching matchmaking is one park that I am watching and picking those fights if the odds are tasty then I would gladly bet for it, but sad to say if the odds are a land slide, I would not bet on it, but still enjoy watching the fight,

We will never know the real reason or his real intention in doing this thing, but maybe this is just to get sympathy or get the attention of a certain person, I think we can all have answers on Instagram or any social media accounts the answer for this, well he might try a new career or go on being a celebrity, he recently posted a photo of him edited it with the Rock and Kevin Heart, so maybe it is really legit but let's just wait for him to say what he really truly wants,

Yeah it's boring with UFA and without football, but there was very good Bellator event with Yoel Romero just finsihed, so maybe you can check that.
There is also Dana White Contender Series I am watching recently and they are great to watch, Dana is forcing them to show all their skills.
I am not specially excited with next UFC event starting this weekend Sad

Not sure what you're looking at but Holland is 23 - 8 in his pro MMA career, 11 - 7 in the UFC.  And he's a pretty decent fighter overall even though the wrestling needs a bit of work.  Maybe he should accept Chimaev's offer of training with him in his gym at Sweden.  Smiley

As for moving up, I didn't take it being cocky, I thought it was rather respectable to be able to risk your zero by taking on a challenge which a lot of people said wouldn't be an easy one. I'm more of a fan of people who dare to be, than are naturally gifted, and get it all.

I know Izzy does have a cocky persona, but I just think most of that's self belief. He believed he could of done it, and every interview I've seen since he's basically said he tried to do his best, and he wasn't good enough.

Damn, I hate weekends without UFC. Especially since other sports are taking a break too.
I have respect for both izzy and pereira doing what izzy does is not an easy task, dominating the middle weight division with some big names in it he even showed great performance in the light heavyweight even if he lost and i admire pereira for trying todethrone izzy in his own sports thats no easy feature too i think we will see a total war in that fight.

I know what you are saying but it's always interesting to watch Yoel Romero, unless he is fighting with Israel Adesanya  Cheesy
UFC has much bigger budget, maybe because they pay fighter less, and they sign new fighters all the time with Dana White Contender Series.

Last Bellator event have had a fair share of underdogs getting the W.  Huge underdogs too...  I'm pretty sure a lot of parlays were busted.  Lol.
I confirm this happens all the time, and I am following Bellator events all the time.

I agree that he is a decent fighter but I don't think he is a top-level fighter. I also don't think he is anywhere near Khamzat in terms of skill.
He needs a lot of improvement. He was 12-1 before UFC but after he joined the UFC he is 11-7 in UFC. I don't think he understood that UFC is the place of the best of the best.
Or he just thought that he is already one of the best. Now his ego is shattered and he is doing some publicity stunts by saying that he will retire.

Pink Poodle is full of confidence that he can beat Petr Yan. He was even surprised that he is a 4-1 underdog. Honestly, this is one of the fights that I never expect to happen. I thought the Pink Poodle was just bluffing about fighting Yan. It's less than a month before the actual fight, although it's still a lot of time for Pink Poodle to back out and make excuses.

UFC 280 is a very stacked event. Rooting for the underdogs Oliveira, TJ, Belal, and Dariush. Maybe I should just parlay them together with Yan. Cheesy

I have to say that Khamzat Chimaev once again came up with a dominating performance. A submission win in the first round.
Who is going to be able to stop this guy?

The guy who is in middleweight and likes to watch anime Cheesy

Recently came across a video with Dana White, saying that according to him, Chimaev has some weight cutting difficulties and he see him in middleweight better than in welterweight. And if the fans would show a lot of interest, he would try to organize Chimaev vs Costa fight. Also, Chimaev wants his next fight to be in middleweight.

Only time will tell if he is actually serious about retiring or not. I think slowly we will get the actual confirmation. I really think he is doing this for some sympathy.
His loss was quite bad against Khamzat. And now he is trying to see some attention and get some sympathy so that people probably don't look at him as a bad fighter.
At least that's my opinion.

I got a feeling that he is not serious in what he is saying I really just got a strong feeling that just posting it is not really his last and if he doesn't officially say it to the public and to the UFC, then this is just a kind of prank or a stunt to get someone's attention, but if we aren't so sure about it because it is not official like you have said only time can tell,

Now that Khamzat Chimaev is going up the division it is going to be Robert Whittaker or Paulo Costa, but I think it will not be Robert Whittaker they have some conversation that Chimaev wants to train with Whittaker and Whittaker wants to catch bad guys with Chimaev, and I don't think Chimaev could win against Whittaker, Robert Whittaker has got some fight IQ even the best grappler could not mess around with him, for me Paolo Costa I most likely they got beef for each other and Paulo Costa is saying a lot of things against Khamzat Chimaev, so the hype is really on between these two,

Cheesy

That Pink Poodle is really full of himself even saying that he doesn't lose against Chito Vera because he got an injury, on his leg, and Chito later reveals that he is really aiming for those legs and that probably break and Pink Poodle is kinda struggling to stand up Marlon Chito Vera has got Poodles leg good that he won it while the Pink Poodle said that he only lost because he was injured and that he is dominating the fight it was really full of himself to say that, and that recent Pedro Munhoz No Contest match where he pokes right into Pedro Munhoz's eyes, he said that it was not an eye Poke, all of this Pink Poodle's saying was really just a lie, and against Yan I want Petr Yan to Pulverize him, and if not I want a rematch against the Pink Poodle VS Marlon Cito Vera,

Yeah, at every event there's a like a couple of underdogs or maybe three that goes through and wins a bet.  But the last event is somewhat unusual especially for a Bellator event.  There were like 5 or 6 underdogs that went through and won.  That's pretty unusual for a UFC event too if that happens.

Overall, MMA markets are the best for finding value in underdogs these days imo.  And that's even after the books got sharper through the years.

UFC is the most biggest and popular MMA event, this make the fighters on UFC are best of the best. That's why in UFC it's hard to beat the champion, because he's actually become the best fighter in the world. Unlike Bellator, the champion doesn't actually become the best in the whole MMA event. If he/she fight against the UFC champion, I believe UFC champion will win.

I think woman fight are have bigger chance for underdog pull an upset against the favorite.

Perfect opportunity to bet on underdogs is upcoming UFC event, with Mackenzie Dern vs Xiaonan Yan.
I know Dern is a favorite to win but odds are very low on her, and there is amazing value betting on Yan despite she lost her last two fights.
Even better chance is for events like Oliveira vs Makhachev and Adesanya vs Pereira, and I can't wait to see that one.

I'm thinking that Dern could get beat this weekend, and will be one of the pie shitters as tokeweed often calls them. I like Dern, but I'm just not confident in picking her for this event. She's got good BJJ, and a decent stand up. I'm just not feeling the odds. I'm not even sure if it's worth betting on the fight going the distance due to her threat on the ground.

Also, I can't put another bet on Brendan Allen, as he let me down massively the last time I backed him, and he looked awful too. Those are my early thoughts, I'll get my predictions out closer to even as usual. Although, I do think this could be a tough event to pick so might avoid it on the betting front.

O'Malley vs Vera would be a better match up imho. I think Petr Yan is a hard nut to crack for Sean. I would say that O'Malley is practically having a title fight this time. No, I am not trying to say that Yan is better than Sterling, and their second fight was close, and if not that illegal knee, Yan would still be a champ, no. Yan and Sterling had a very close fight, that is all. O'Malley is about to face right hand of the last boss Cheesy Top1 vs Top12. Seems unfair to me. I think O'Malley should first had a win over Vera, and only then face Yan.

Dunno about that.  I mean yeah Xiaonan Yan is prolly the steadier fighter and she's the better striker for sure but Dern prolly has learned a lot from her match vs Marina Rodriguez who is a better striker than Xiaonan Yan imho...  As for my confidence level for Dern, it has lowered a bit cos of your post and Welsh's post.  Lol.  I would've slotted her at the top of my lottery ticket.  Cheesy

Anyway it looks like we're having another week off after this weekend's event.  But the next event is gonna be reeeeaally good for a Fight Night.  Check it out!

I would suggest to save money from betting on this event and an event that comes after that, wait till October 22 and go all-in with bets, snack and booze Cheesy As I have already counted 8 fights that I am definitely gonna watch.

I think I am gonna skip Dern vs Yan event, and only watch Oleinik vs Latifi replay, just to check what kind of submission "uncle Lyosha" (hit listen on Russian) will use this time. But I am always open to watching the fight you point for me. Dont know about main event - girls seems to be on high position in top, probably gonna be interesting fight, but...

^  Yup.  I usually just do my lottery ticket for most matches in Fight Night events and just bet for outcomes I'm most confident in.

Oh October 22 is gonna be lit!  All great match ups from top to bottom so it's totally worth it to pay for the PPV.  Even the next event after this weekend's event have lots of good match ups.

And I don't think Oleinik will use his signature move against Latifi.  Look at Latifi's neck!  It's like he has no neck.  Lmaooo.  I slightly lean Latifi tho.  Just can't trust Oleinik because of his age.

Latifi is not a teenager also Cheesy Besides, all these muscles require tons is oxygen. Despite Latifis huge neck muscles, if Oleinik wins, I think it will be somehow connected with neck. If not cutting off the oxygen (any kind of choke), then it is going to be a variation of a neck crack.

For me, if Chito Vera and Petr Yan would fight I'd say I will choose Marlon Chito Vera, particularly the Marlon Vera now is more level up than Petr Yan, I am really disappointed in Yan when he lost to Sterling he was dominating on their 1st fight but fight now as you have said it was a close one, it seems the hype for Yan is derailed there are a lot of Hype for him on their Rematch it's like Aljamain Sterling have stepped up while he was just left behind, he doesn't expect for Aljamain Sterling to be this good but for me I want Marlon Vera to be champion,

Even the low level match ups are bangers.  Todorovic vs Jordan Wright?  Sign me up!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Well, I will still watch the Dern VS Yan fight, I really want to see the fighting kitten Mackenzie Dern for me it is an insatiable fight to watch,

I really don't trust Aleksei Oleinik as well but if he can still fight despite his age, for me I would surely go with a bet, for Aleksei Oleinik but I am having my doubts if he can still fight, at 45 years of age versus a 39 years old Ilir Latifi, if Aleksei Oleinik can have a submission win of Latifi, then he could win this but for me, I would still go for Aleksei Oleinik despite having doubts if he can still fight despite his age, but we can not judge him and he surely knowns more than ever if he can not fight anymore, but he surely loves to fight so give it to him,

I made my early prediction on Dern to win in Sportsbet Multi Master Challenge, but more I think about this fight more I have a feeling Xiaonan Yan could make a surprise win.
I won't watch this even live and I am not to excited to watch main event, but I just saw very interesting training by Alex Pereira in his preparation for Adesanya fight.
Is someone going to need some kind of wheels in that fight?  Grin
