Little bit of good new for you guys:

Former MMA star Cain Velasquez pleads not guilty in shooting

I am so glad that Cain is not going to spend any more time in jail for his vengeance towards the guy who molested one of Cains family members. And I am much more pleased that this guys trial is scheduled in September.

P.S. Dont know what is worse, face vengeance from Cain in 1 on 1 situation, or when people in jail find out what this guy will be in jail for  Cheesy

the judges might give questionable split decisions for the 2 of them. This is not very impossible in the UFC.
I don't want to contribute to the conspiracy or the drama of recent events, but there's one particular judge that seems to always see a different fight to us viewers, and the other judges. In the past few weeks there's been some absolute mind boggling decisions. Some of them where fighters I bet on, and I just ended up thinking I got lucky.

Not sure how we can improve the judging though, at least it's better than boxing. Boxing judges seem to be heavily skewed either to the favourite or the home fighter. We don't see that at least in the UFC.

We don't see that at least in the UFC.

Recent Petr Yan vs Aljamain Sterling first round was rather controversial. Judges gave their 10 points to Aljo, while lots of people (Dana White as well) thought that Petr won first round and it should be 3:2 in Yans favour. Also I remember Michael Bisping vs Matt Hamill fight. Bisping took lots of damage and good beating, but won this round. Many people thought he won because this was main event fight and the fight took place in London.

I think the problem with the UFC is they favour the champion a little bit too much. The attitude is you have to convince the judges that you truly took that belt. However, I honestly believe there's been some truly shocking decisions more recently than these fights. A few of the ladies fights were very controversial, and I'm failing to understand why. I have noticed that the louder the fighter shouts, the more leeway they are given, and while it might be annoying to watch, maybe they do it for a reason. Maybe, it masks the connection of a punch, and therefore the judges are assuming it landed, rather than getting additional confirmation or maybe it gives the impression it landed. I don't know, as I've never been to a live event, so can't comment on the view point they have, and what can or can't influence it.

What I do know it does seem like a lot of female fighters in particular have been getting favourable results with this approach. For the mens fights I believe control time with no damage or advancement of position is scored too highly. Also, things like fence grabs should be factored in regardless if the ref highlighted it or not. If I'm a judge, and I see someone use the fence illegally to their advancement, I'd be taking that into consideration with what follows.

Thankfully their justice system is not biased and is considered to free whoever is the real innocent. the worse thing is, this guy was just protecting his family from these malicious people and ended up getting on a trial. Imagine if he was guilty of doing so, the guys that are truly doing the crime will have some chance to do that again to others and people will also be afraid to do the necessary things like Cain does.

Yeap. There is such a problem. Your opponent can connect every single strike on you, but if you do a take down and just lay on your opponent to recover from damage, the judges would score this round in your favour.

I think UFC judges pay not only attention on martial arts skills, but on taunts, backflips, emotions and etc. If two fighters looked the same technically, those who looked more entertaining gets the round. Those who managed to sell the fight better will win. As if UFC is 90% competition and 10% entertainment.

What's more annoying you always hear Dana promoting the UFC with "damage matters", but quite simply isn't the case. I know Dana shouldn't have any influence over the judges, but the judges should probably be told the criteria by the UFC.

They do have a hard job no doubt. Watching it from the angle we have back at home, I don't know when some of these shots are actually landing, and when they aren't. They go by so quick. There's been multiple times where someone has been knocked out, and no one, including the commentators know how, and we have to refer back to the replay. So, I do get it. They'll be seeing different things to us since they're at a different angle, and they don't have replays.

However, there's been some fights which have been absolutely mind boggling how they came to the decision. I just want to see the rightful winner get the decision, whether or not I betted on them doesn't matter.

I do think judges should review replays though, it might delay things at the end of the fight, but it might be a more fair way of going about it. I don't know, I'd just like to see some improvements on the judging.

Football has VAR. There is a topic here (but moved to off-topic) about VAR. People are more positive to it, then negative. Perhaps something like that should or better must be implemented in UFC. At least to avoid 6 and 12h elbows and knee to grounded moments. But, I dont know how to properly implement it. There are 3+1 judge in UFC, when in football there is main ref and helpers. And watching replay...Whole even last for 3-5 hours. If they add more pauses, that might hurt sports image.

Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards. We saw how good Usman was compared to the past. Faster and agile. I was surprised to see that Leon hadn't been praised until now either. You can see how Leon has improved and his strokes look very good. Both fighters are very good. It was seen that Leon had slight technical advantages in this fight, especially in the feet. However, Usman did not let this turn into an advantage. Leon looks like Usman physically, but Usman is a hammer. I'm looking forward to the second fight.

Usman beats Leon any day of the week for me. I'd say easy money, but then the odds are so short that there's probably no point on betting on a straight line, and probably better to go for the knock out or submission win. Although, I could see that going to a decision. Depends on how Usman approaches the fight for me.

Football has VAR. There is a topic here (but moved to off-topic) about VAR. People are more positive to it, then negative. Perhaps something like that should or better must be implemented in UFC. Yeah, the thing is with a fight I wouldn't want to stop it mid round to review anything, due to allowing the fighters to regain some of their composure or fitness. So, instead reviewing it at the end of the fight would probably be best. However, I know a lot of fans would complain about pacing issues, but if they implement it correctly, and have the judges discuss the replays over mic, and allow the fans to listen in, I think it could actually help, and maybe bridge the gap between fans, and judges.

Hearing the rationale for someone making a decision, albeit still being in disagreement, to not knowing why they came to the conclusion they did. Funnily enough I have the same problems with football, and how there's no transparency.

Not sure how we can improve the judging though, at least it's better than boxing. Boxing judges seem to be heavily skewed either to the favourite or the home fighter. We don't see that at least in the UFC.
Some people, mma experts and fighters proposed open scoring and I think this could improve situation a lot but sometimes it could make things worse.
It's impossible for everyone to be happy with mma judging but there is a lot space for improvements, and I agree with you that situation in boxing is not any better.
One more thing could be to better educate judges and introduce one ex mma fighter in judging system.

I wouldn't stop action in mma like in football just to watch replay and in football you have ball with chip inside that can track in if crosses the line.
It's much more complicated to do the same thing with fighters and watching replay could change fight direction and irritate fans.

The UFC is starting to become a very interesting lightweight. Yes, you know, Islam Makhahev and Charles Oliveria were paired for the title challenge in the ufc 280 main card. Oliveria accepted this fight anyway, it would be better for Makhachev to build this match. If Oliveria beats Islam, the Khabib match may come up. Oliveria will not refuse in this fight. He has the confidence that he can fight anyone in the lightweight division right now. On the other hand, Fiziev comes to the top with his victories, Mc Gregor gets well, he will come to the ring again, it is not clear who he will go with, a lot of names are being talked about.

Cain Velasquez might have shot the father of the guy but it was not intentional, it was meant to be for the guy who have molested his relative, and I think Velasquez has a good lawyer for him to be pleaded not guilty, I think the judges have seen that this was due to what the guy has done to his relative and he is just doing it out of anger, and yes the Molester will surely be faced the judge's verdict next month,

And yeah if the molester was safe from the hands of the former UFC champion he will surely face the wrath of the people inside the jail,

For the mens fights I believe control time with no damage or advancement of position is scored too highly.

Yeap. There is such a problem. Your opponent can connect every single strike on you, but if you do a take down and just lay on your opponent to recover from damage, the judges would score this round in your favour.

Well some fighters have taken this as an advantage just to win and we can not know what the true motive of those people judging the UFC fights but if Dana White was pissed from the result I think that he is not controlling any judges but I still think he can still give some rules for them on how to judge a fight on the UFC and what is to consider when judging the fight, well there is a true instance that the judge have their own motives in judging the fights but I don't want to say that they are not doing their job pretty well but maybe sometimes they don't do their job and not seeing some of the details ad some are assuming in what they saw, in my opinion,

Speaking about judges:

I know this is just a joke, but If Mario would be a ref in that fight, then there are chances that it is really is going to be Nates last fight Cheesy

The UFC is starting to become a very interesting lightweight.

I would say that lightweight is the most exciting to watch. Current lightweight roster is full of surprises. Lots of fighters deserve to be champions, lots of them can achieve that. Despite middleweight (but things can change in UFC 281) and featherweight or flyweight. Because there are 2-4 fighters that get title fights and all others (we are expecting Figueiredo vs Moreno 4, and doubt that anyone can bet Volkanovski right now; doubt someone will be interested in watching Volkanovski vs Hollaway 4).

As much as I'd love to see Khabib back in the cage, he made a promise to his mother, and he seems like the type of guy that'll keep that promise. Losing his father was unfortunate, especially since that's the major contributing factor to why he no longer fights, and I'm a little gutted as I never really got to see his earlier fights. I believe the first fight I saw was with him, and Conor (I think). Justin was after Conor, right?

I'm going with Charles on that fight though. I can't pass up that man, too many times I've doubted him, and he ends up delivering. So, I'll be putting a cheeky little bet on him to win.

Figueiredo is still worth to watch since Monero was able to beat him on the second fight, but Volkanovski is different, he's too over powered on featherweight division. Betting him isn't worth too since the odds is very small due to huge favorited.

Most of popular and good fighter were on lightweight division, that's why anyone which didn't even watch UFC can know the fighter is. McGregor is the example, honestly I'm more excited to see Paddy Pimblett fight. He's may a nothing for most people, but he gained my respect since he's a man who have diamond heart by taking care a people with mental health.

And he's kinda fat now.  So if ever he's coming back, he'll be fighting at 170.  But I think it's safe to say he's def not coming back.  He's training his cousins now, with Makhachev as his best shot to follow in his foot steps and get a title.

Anyway, lots of new faces itt...  I'm not sure if you guys really like the UFC or you're just here for your sigs but try watching a couple of events.  You'll love it.  And why not drop a little action in some of the match ups while you're at it.  You could bet for as little as 1 USD in your favorite book.  Parlays are good for fun.

So...  Who you guys got between Vera and Cruz?  I got my lottery tickets set on Vera but in my mind I'm still back and forth.  Cruz could out fox Vera here.  Dunno.

Speaking about judges:

I know this is just a joke, but If Mario would be a ref in that fight, then there are chances that it is really is going to be Nates last fight Cheesy

This is Dana White in his finest tricking us into getting at Nate Diaz for good because Mario Yamazaki could stop the fight early or stop the fight too much lately, that Nate Diaz could get multiple injuries, from a ground and pound of Chimaev, but yeah this is just Dana White trolling us, Mario Yamazaki is the worst Referee there is,

I could say the same after Charles Oliveira got stripped of his belt, and because of this we got an upcoming fight of Islam Makhachev VS Charles Oliveira on the UFC 280, it was really an exciting match and pretty much between the two back then I was an Islam Makhachev fan, but when I have seen that Charles Oliveira is a humble person, and can surely be leaned and have some positioning on his grappling, I am torn between the two, but I will surely have my conclusion in no time,

WOW! we got a slightly same story I also have known Khabib on the Connor McGregor fight and haven't known him in his early career but as we now have the internet it is possible now to rewatch most of his fights easily, and I also missed Khabib Nurmagomedov inside the octagon, so much I want to see him fight again, but I guess he is doing fine, and a promise really is a promise that I think he will not break,

Not a chance Khabib is coming back in pro mma fighting, but it is possible to see him in some exhibition fight with some boxer, for charity cause.
Everyone would love to see him back, I know he is still active training with other fighters from his team, and they are quickly going up for title in their categories.

Guys watch this video Dana White Replies to questions from fans posted on internet.
He is big time gambler and many casinos don't allow him to play anymore, Jake Paul was again mentioned and he replied.
Dana said he won't increase paycheck to fighters while he is in charge  Tongue

Any predictions on the fight later at 7:00 PM for Eastern Time and tomorrow morning for GMT +8?
Vera vs Cruz - main card.
The articles I have read are all predicting the side of Vera to win because of the 3 win streak ride. The strategy would be to wear Cruz out like Vera always do with his other opponents.
But I have doubts because I also read some comments about Cruz's IQ that Vera should be careful about, just like how he won his last fight with Pedro Munhoz. If the battle will be lengthy there's a chance Cruz could win it.
