So apparently Ajinkaye Rahane is the man who can save India from miserable defeat he right now is the most important wicket for Australia.  He's going good so far but he needs to play carefully because after him there are no more batsmen for India.

Ajinkaye Rahane and Shardul Thakur partnership can make a difference in India's scoreboard , till now they're going good and stable.  Like Steven Smith and travis head they can change the entire game for their team.
Day 3 is the most important one for both teams for their finals .

They don't have much batting left with them. It depends how Rahane take the tailenders with him and for how long they can survive this Australian attack.

For the second consecutive day, the Indians have performed poorly. They did a decent job by bowling out Australia for a total of less than 500. But then, in a pitch that supports batting, they are 151/5 at the end of second day's play. And don't forget the fact that this time their playing XI contains three genuine tailenders - Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj. So a lot will depend on Ajinkya Rahane and Srikar Bharat, and also on Shardul Thakur who is about to come next. India still need another 118 runs to avoid the follow on.

Not a good start by Indian batsmen half of the team is back on 151 and still 318 runs more to go. Ravindra Jadeja is the highest run scorer with 48 runs on 51 balls. Australia in a very strong position at the moment and India need some exceptional batting performance from there tail. Indian bowling was good but its 300 runs partnership between Smith and Travis Head that has done the damage.

Indian top order batsmen are all out Ajinkya Rahane and Srikar Bharat if these two batsmen are out today at the beginning of the day then it cannot be said for sure whether India can get 250 runs. But at the start of the day both the fast bowlers and the spinners department will get a great advantage. It is not possible to say whether India can take 250 runs.

Srikar Bharat did not settle on the pitch but Ajinkya Rahane is battling very well in this time. Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur make good partnership. Shardul Thakur play with 41 strikes. But India lost 6 wickets early against a big score set by Australia. Their position will be confirmed depending on how well they do in the next day. I think if these two batsmen can survive today and tomorrow then India can be optimistic about the match. But surviving lengthy time in the pitch in this condition is very difficult for them.

India can't expect the remaining tailenders to add a lot many runs, but if these two stays there for another hour or so, then the follow on can be avoided. And if the Shami and Siraj can lead a fightback sometime today (with the ball obviously), then there are still chances for India. BTW, where is Boland? Other bowlers are looking pretty much ineffective for Australia.

India is still way too behind and chasing the game miserably. Needed a repeat of the Laxman-Dravid type of partnership but it's a pipe dream atm but they are scoring runs at a very good run rate. Which is a positive, right? lol

The turning point of the match for India was the partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja. Because if India's batting is a disaster, these two batsmen have been able to bring India's score to this state by batting responsibly. Ajinkya Rahane is unbeaten on 89 so far with Shardul Thakur unbeaten on 36 as a worthy partner. India have already lost eight wickets so it is not possible for them to survive for three days as they have only two wickets left.  And meanwhile they need 189 more runs to meet the target. India is a good team but cannot compete with Australia.  Australia put India under a lot of pressure on the first day. And they haven't overcome that pressure yet and it doesn't seem like they will be able to in this Test match.

The only hope now is Shardul Thakur, if he stays more on the strike side and the relatively weak batting that keeps them more on the non-strike side, India's collection will cross roughly 300 plus. In this case Shardul Thakur is the second highest run scorer in the first innings and he just completed his half century. In any case, Shardul Thakur's outstanding authority in this crisis is worth remembering. Welcome to him for outstanding leadership.

The score have reached 293/8, somehow 300+ runs will be reached. It is really bad that India's top order didn't perform well. The lower order is far better and had contributed good to the team score. Shardul Thakur is really good at his performance, and none could've expected this from him. For Australia it is the top order that performed, with Indian team the lower order is doing well. Mohammed Shami is giving the best support. If this partnership continues for the day, then the chances of India to draw the match will increase. However such an chance is really narrow against the mighty bowlers of Australia who are in good form.

But the positive aspect to focus on is Shardul Thakur's exception batting performance where he scored a well-deserved fifty 51 runs. Australia bowlers particularly Pat Cummins displayed their skill by taking three crucial wickets. Despite the uphill battle India resilience and determination can still lead to a competitive second innings and with the unpredictable nature of cricket i think anything is possible at The Oval.

Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur are the reason why India managed to score 296. Despite their efforts Australia still holds the upper hand in this game. Aussie bowlers managed to wrap up India's innings, and taking a massive lead. Three crucial chances that were put down by Aussie fielders, which helped India reach their final total of 296. Otherwise, India would have been forced to follow on, potentially leading to an innings defeat. Although the match is not over yet, it would indeed require a miracle for India to turn the match for their favor.

If Australian batsmen can make a partnership of 60 to 70 runs, the match will remain in favor of Australia. This is a game of nerves but Australia having scored 469 runs in the first innings is still on the upper hand.

David Warner was out on 1 and the other opener Usman Khawaja only made 13 runs and it gave a bit of hope to the Indian team. Steven Smith  is still looking good even though.

I never expected that a Shali team with such power as India would perform so badly. I thought if India could do well in the bowling line then Australia would be all out for 250 runs. But India bowled well in the beginning but then bowled badly.  India team batsman Rohit got out with 15 runs from 26 balls. Virat Kohli got out with 14 runs from 31 balls. India team batsmen batted very badly.
