Bangladesh ended the first day with 362 runs for 5 wickets, but Bangladesh batting disaster in the first session on the second day. Bangladesh lost five wickets while collecting 9 runs. I thought Bangladesh would be able to score 400 runs but Bangladesh ended the first innings with only 382 runs.

But the picture of the match remained the same for Afghanistan's batting, with Afghanistan falling by three wickets for 35 runs before the lunch break. Bangladeshi medium fast bowler Ebadat Hossain is the top taker with two wickets. If Afghanistan's batting continues like this, it cannot be said for sure whether they will be able to spend today in a defensive mood.

In the only test match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan we saw some good runs for Bangladesh in the second wicket pair but then four wickets fell but we didn't see any partnership like that but in the sixth wicket pair Mehidy Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim were able to form a good partnership. Mushfiqur Rahim is unbeaten with 39 runs and Mehidy Hasan is unbeaten with a wicket till now with 40 runs. 77 overs are already over and only 13 overs are left to play today hope Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan can complete these 13 overs.

End of day 1 Bangladesh have managed to score 362/5 runs. Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Najmul Hossain Shanto have contributed good to the team with 76 and 146 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim(41*) and Mehidy Hasan(43*) on the crease is predicted to score 450-500 runs. Afghanistan Players bowlers weren't able to break partnerships and the struggle continues. Possibly by the second day we can expect the pitch to be supportive to the bowlers. Bangladesh is at strong position and good runs from Afghanistan is required atleast to draw the match.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan finished the day's play close to half-centuries on day one. But on the second day, these two set batsmen were out soon. After these two batsmen were subsequently dismissed, it did not take long for Bangladesh to be all out. Afghanistan are batting in their first innings on the second day. So far, Afghanistan have collected 35 runs for three wickets. Afghanistan is 347 runs behind Bangladesh so far. After the fall of the third wicket, play is now off for the lunch break.

I was quite happy when Afghanistan wrapped up the Lankan innings quite quickly. During the morning session, Sri Lanka lost the final 5 wickets for just 9 runs, as  the 24-year old Nijat Masood picked up a 5-wicket haul in his debut (he picked up a wicket of his very first ball in test cricket earlier). But they are struggling now and at one point Afghanistan was at 35/3. Hashmatullah Shahidi and Nasir Jamal are trying to build a partnership for the 4th wicket and so far they have added 16 runs. It will be difficult, as Ebadot Hossain and Shoriful Islam are bowling with good line and length.

Afghanistan are batting in Day 2 - 2nd Session and they are not performing very well at the moment. Afghanistan's batsmen are under a lot of pressure right now. Afghanistan have already lost 7 wickets making sure that they are unlikely to win today's match. On the first day, Bangladesh batsmen scored a lot of runs but on the second day, their runs were completely reduced due to the rapid fall of wickets by Afghanistan. The way the Afghanistan batsmen have started playing will make it difficult for them to score 200 runs. From the beginning Afghanistan batsmen could not collect good runs for which they came under pressure. Bangladesh's bowling Ebadot HOSSAIN has suffered a heavy loss for Afghanistan due to his performance today. Because all the wickets have been lost on this first day. He single handedly fell 4 wickets in 10 overs which is terrible for a Test match. The hallmark of a Test match is keeping wickets intact. Afghanistan's run rate was quite low as Bangladesh scored 218 runs for 2 wickets. In that case, Afghanistan managed to collect only 142 runs for 8 wickets in today's game. But today's target will never be met by Afghanistan and is likely to be all out in no time.

It was only a matter of time before Afghanistan were all out in the first innings against Bangladesh. 
Afghanistan lost 8 wickets to collect 144 runs. If Afghanistan can be bowled out between 160 and 170 runs, Bangladesh may invite Afghanistan to bat once more. In that case, there is a possibility that Afghanistan will be defeated by an innings margin. 

Afghanistan's middle order batsmen sparked a bit but could not stay on the wicket for long. A good partnership is essential to boost the score which was totally absent in today's match. Bangladesh still has a lead of 238 runs over Afghanistan.

Bangladesh refused to enforce the follow on and decided to bat again instead, which would help to extend this hapless test to the third day. At this point, they are cruising along with a run rate of close to 6 runs per over. I do not know why Bangladesh does not enforce the follow-on. Maybe they needed to have some more batting practice. One thing is for sure that they will win this match regardless they enforced the follow on or not.

Afghanistan did not bowl well and later they even did not bat well. Their whole team was out under 150 runs, 146 to be exact. Afsar Zazai scored the highest 36 runs while Nasir Jamal scored 35 runs. Rest none of the batsmen were able to make any significant score.

Bangladesh have already scored 134 runs with one wicket down only and they have the match winning lead of 370 runs and counting.

Am excited for this particular series since I feel that England will provide a better challenge to the Australians when compared to India due to their bazball approach. Brendon McCullum should be proud of his epic achievements.
