If one of the top order batsman have scored solid runs, the score could've reached close to 400 runs. It was Shardul Thakur who needs to be appreciated for his efforts in supporting the team avoid follow on. At the end of day 1, the match is almost losing for India. The second day's wicket fall made India in a better position. Now on the fourth day of the match there is a need of good bowling from India. Some fortune had to happen, only then this match gonna draw.

You are correct! If one top order batter had scored some food runs then the situation wouldn't be this bad. I have no confidence with the top Indian batting order. I did expected Shubhman Gill to do his part. He also failed miserably. Rohit has been struggling, Virat is unreliable in OCC tournament, Pujara needs to be dropped but BCCI doesn't have a replacement for him. Those who are good are injured at the moment.

Sad to see India in such a horrible state at the moment. They still have a chance if they can restrict the Australians to below 400 which looks really, really tough at the moment.

Absolutely still India has a chance to get back into the game as because now Australia lead by 296 runs while they lose most of his Mian player and especially previous inning performers, now Australian scored 123 by just lose his 4th wicket, if the current two set batter scored above 300 then it will be just like impossible to win for India because lead will be raised to above 500 and due to current performance indian batter did look confident and also lack of understanding about pitch also put them in really big trouble just like things done in previous inning, so no India should take much more possible wicket to put down Thier moral and get into the game..

India have got little chance to get back into the game and hope for a draw. Australia team have already scored 123/4 which for India is good, but the lead is already close to 300 runs. With Labuschagne, Green, Alex Carey, Cummins left behind surely we can expect another 100 runs from Australia. If things go well Australia could set a target of 450+ runs for sure. In such situation it'll really hard for India to chase, but Australia have the power packed bowling lineup that could defend. Also the highest fourth innings run chase in the history of test cricket is 418 runs.

Maybe it’s time to break the history? With the score 123/4, I think Australia will be easily able to mange 180+ runs more. So yeah the target will be atleast 500 runs to be honest. And India will have hardly a day and one session to chase the score. The chase seems very hard, but in cricket anything and everything is possible. If India’s mindset is not about winning the match, then they will try really hard to atleast draw the match and share the trophy with Australia. Today the result will become more clear.

Gai Bhains Pani Mein! 374 and counting. Already they are reaching 380. If Indian batting was not that complicated then I too would have agreed that the last resort for India is to draw the match. I have nil confidence with the top & middle order. I cannot expect the lower middle and the lower order to come and rescue everytime. Badly missing Ashwin and Panth at the moment.

Australia is batting in the second innings so far. In their second innings, Australia have managed to score 201 runs for six wickets against India so far. Adding the first innings lead and today's total, Australia still lead India by 374 runs. Australia still have four wickets in hand, if Australia manage to score another 100 runs then the target for India will be close to 480 runs which is very difficult to take against Australia. Trailing behind Australia in the first innings did not bode well for India. As things stand, if wickets fall very quickly, then India can win this match.

India can never think of winning the match at the moment. Four wickets left and Australia leads by 395 runs. Alex Carey have scored his half century and Starc is supporting good. Indian bowlers weren't bad, they're trying their best. The opening session looke good, but they weren't able to pick wickets. Whether the match turns to be a close contest or not depends upon the performance from Indian batsmen. Based on what we saw in the first innings of India this looks like an easy win for Australia.

To get this target we need a nearly perfect chase with a fair amount of luck, half baked effort won't do anything in the final innings. In the 3rd inning, Indian bowlers have shown, if you bowl tight lines then it's a bit tricky to score fast.  

Again Daddy hundreds are needed, even if we want to draw.

It doesn't seem like they are playing for a draw match. Their target is to win the game (judging from their batting style). It's not like they are not capable of winning the game. Indian batters can score this run in two sessions on their good days. But things are different here in London. They are not playing in their home ground. Neither Australia is playing in their home ground. I would say this is a risky and brave decision from India. This is the final match. So, they are not planning to share the trophy with Australia. But they might lose the trophy if they take too many risks. They should prepare for each ball and play accordingly. Of course, Shubman Gill is a good batter. But I would say he is the main man from Team India. Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja has more experience than him. I won't be surprised if their lower-order batters score 50 runs and they win the match.

The big question is was Shubman gill really out ? Was the catch clearly taken ? It look like the 3rd umpire was color blind who could not see the ball clearly touching the grass between the two fingers.

Shubman Gill is a total failure for India's needs

Shubman Gill's batting performance for Gujarat Titans in this year's IPL was truly memorable and Shubman Gill won more than four Records in IPL. From that prospect his place in the World Test Championship was all but assured.  But that Shubman Gill failed completely with the bat in the two innings of this test. Shubman Gill scored 13 runs in the first innings and 18 runs in the second innings. So Shubman Gill failed to make himself good for India in the World Test Championship.

Yes, he is! Not sure what he does in ODI world cup. He will get selected and he might play exceptionally well. At the moment it feels he is struggling after IPL. Nevertheless it is a bad sign for him and a negative signal for the selectors. As of now Indian team looks struggling and they way they are batting give me a signal that they are trying to draw the fianl match. It is day 4, a lot more can happen if top & middle order can bat. I am expecting none from them.

^^ Well tbh he was looking good today, it was a blinder catch from the Green so i won't read much into it.

The way Indian batters are going with their business. I don't think they are thinking about drawing, good to see intent from the start even Pujara playing his shot. Double edge sword but that way it's more fun. 100 runs partnership from here without losing any wickets would make things very exciting and blockbuster 5th day finish.
