Good batting till number 9 atleast, india also will have Ashwin and even Shami who can bat well.

Ashwin is no longer considered as a bowler. He is considered as a spin-bowling allrounder. In case of Shami, I can agree with you. He's not yet an allrounder and can be seen as a bowler who can bat a bit. Among the Indian bowlers, at this point only Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah can be considered as genuine tailenders. Shardul/Ashwin are allrounders and Shami/Siraj are ones who can contribute with the bat. Same with other teams as well. Australia have Cummins/Starc and for England it is Broad/Robinson.

The Robinson debate is blowing up everywhere. I knew that he would get into trouble after sending off Khawaja in a messed up manner, but such mistakes happen in the heat of the moment.

In the social media, a lot of people are comparing the punishment meted out to Kagiso Rabada with the inaction taken for Robinson. Rabada was punished with demerit points three times in his career (2017, 2018 and 2020) for similar offenses. There is a counter-argument that Rabada was not just punished for his verbal aggression, but also for physical aggression (in all three cases, he was getting close to the batsmen). Anyway, all this unwanted attention won't do much good for Robinson. He has just started his test career. Need to learn a lesson or two from James Anderson.

India have announced their Test squad for the WI series. Pujara has been dropped from the Test squad may come as a surprise to some fans, but I would say good decision. Mohammed Shami rested. It's good to see new faces in the fast bowling department. Regarding the overall strength of the squad, hopefully India start their new WTC cycle(2023-2025) with positive results. It's my personal opinion that Rohit should be dropped from the test, after considering various factors such as his recent form, his captaincy abilities, and his overall contribution to the team. He should only concentrated on ODI.

Actually I was discussing about the only test that is going on between Australia and England women teams.
Day 2 game is in progress and Australia did well to score 473 runs in there first innings. While Ellyse Perry missed his hundred by just 1 runs, Annabel Sutherland fought hard and remain unbeaten on 137 not out. Tahlia McGrath was third prominent Australian batter who scored 61 runs. England are also doing well in there first innings run chase and are 117/1, they still trail by 356 runs.

Rohit inclusion is understandable, if i am not wrong then he has been our best bat since 2021 in terms of runs and then there is a transition captaincy angle too.

What i didn't like is the musical chair of Vice Captaincy. They went back to Rahane because of one performance. It tells you that they don't have any vision or any player for future test captaincy. Rahul failed, Shreyas-Pant duo is out due to injury. Gill is too young and they don't consider bowlers for any leadership roles. Also, neglecting Ranji's top performers and giving weightage to IPL form.

Australia still leads by 255 runs but as the match is progressing I think England will come close to this Australian score. If it happens, then this match will lead towards the draw for sure.

Rohit is a better player in the shorter formats of cricket. The ODI and the T20. I think India should actually concentrate on making different squads for different formats of cricket. Because they are very much capable of doing that. They should think about it if they are actually interested to improve in test cricket. The performance of Rohit Sharma was always not so much consistent in test cricket compared to his performance in the shorter formats. But I will say they should rest him only if they have proper players to replace him.

I highly doubt that they'll drop Pujara, i think this might be more like a rest for him and he'll get another chance for sure, he is a big veteran equivalent to Kohli, Rohit when it comes to Tests. There can't be a better series to test Jaiswal and Gaikwad, it would've been even better to rest maybe Rohit to test even Sarfaraz Khan who was playing great in first class. Good place to test our bowling bench strength as well.

I highly doubt that they'll drop Pujara, i think this might be more like a rest for him and he'll get another chance for sure, he is a big veteran equivalent to Kohli, Rohit when it comes to Tests. There can't be a better series to test Jaiswal and Gaikwad, it would've been even better to rest maybe Rohit to test even Sarfaraz Khan who was playing great in first class. Good place to test our bowling bench strength as well.

It looks like India is underestimating the West Indies team and giving more space for the new ones. It is needed one, but the team should have players like Pujara in the squad along with the new players. We don't know how good will be th performance of new ones, even if they fail to perform, the role will be carried by Pujara with his expertise performance. Lets see what happens as the team is playing away from home which could give better experience than playing within the country.

Gaikwad and Jaiswal were selected on the basis of their T20 performance, I guess? It is strange to have selection to the test team based on performance from a T20 league. Top performers were ignored once more, such as Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sarfaraz Khan. And I was surprised with the choice of Navdeep Saini. Apart from the fact that he is considered as a sidekick of Virat Kohli, his recent performances were not up to the mark. And no one is going to forget his boorish behavior during IPL 2020, when he knocked down Tewatia with a beamer and then refused to apologize.

What you said about pitch is very much true as England on stumps of Day 2 are 218/2. Aussies bowlers are not getting pitch, may be because pitch is not in favour of bowlers or it may be a road. Tammy Beaumont scored her first test hunderd and still not out, Heather Knight scored 57 before getting bowled out by Ashleigh Gardner. England still trail by 255 runs and they have 8 wickets left. Third day play will decide whether we have a result for this game or its a draw.

I agree with you. The Test squad should not be selected on the basis of T20's performance. Patience is required to perform well in Test matches. We have seen many talented batsmen who perform consistently well in T20 and ODI formats but are weak in Test formats. Gaikwad and Jaiswal are very talented players. I have no doubts about their ability. But we don't know what kind of player they are in Test format. BCCI should have formed the squad with tested and experienced players of the Test format. However, Indian players have been out of form for a long time. I am not expecting much from the Indian team this year. Perhaps BCCI is keen to experiment with their squad.

The narrative is that he's dropped and not rested. Rested is used for Shami but not for him. Tests are important maybe that's why it's not a good idea to give rest to temp captain.

Jaiswal seems alright as he was in fine form in every format and had a decent Ranji as well, although it wasn't exceptional. On the other hand, Gaikwad was way too behind in Ranji's ranking.
