Women Australia won this test match which at one time was looking to be drawn. The way they changed the game on the 4th and 5th day is remarkable and England women's team had no answer to this. I thought that England was in a better position to win this match but the Australian team really bowled well and they made England women's team all out at 178 runs.

Ashleigh Gardner took 8 wickets in this final innings and she was simply unplayable by the English batsmen.

In first innings both teams scored almost equal runs and till day 4 it was expected that the game will end in a draw. England bowlers did well to bowl out Aussies at 257, thanks to 5 wickets by Sophie Ecclestone. But its England batting that failed to chase a small target of 267 and whole team was out on 178 runs. Australia is very good at cricket and England is not bad either. In the first innings both the teams scored almost equally and the match was tight but in the second innings Australia Women team outscored England Women by 79 runs and after 10 runs more in the first innings England Women lost the entire match by 89 runs. The match had a lot of excitement in the first innings as both the teams were performing very well.

In this match between England Women and Australia Women, Australia Women won by 89 runs. The players of Australia Women team succeeded after many efforts to win the match. Australia Women scored 473 runs in 1st inns and 257 runs in 2nd inns. But England Women 1st  Had a good run in Inns but England Women team had to lose the match due to very poor play in 2nd Inns. If England Women could have played well in 2nd Inns then there might have been a chance to win the match.

The main reason for the England women's defeat was a poor performance in the second innings. England Women's team did not have much of a target but with this small amount of target in front, England Women's team defeated Australia Women's team by a huge margin of 89 runs. Had they been able to bat responsibly from the start of the fifth day, the England women's team might have won. Because at the end of the fourth day England women's team's collection was 5 wickets for 115 runs that means on the fifth day England women's team needed about 150 runs but they got all out very quickly. England women's team was not able to make a good partnership. The bowlers of Australia women's team did not make mistakes in picking up wickets at regular intervals due to which Australia women's team got a big win against England.

After three bore cricketing days we have fourth very exciting day as 15 wickets fall and now match is completely in Australian control even England having very good start of fourth inning while they were chasing target of 267 with having 50+ runs stand for the first wicket now they are 116 for 5 after end of fourth day play.
 
Introduction of Ashleigh Gardner change the match momentum as she picks three quick wickets and breaks the backbone of England now mostly likely we will have result before lunch because tail-enders can't handle this situation and bowling of Ashleigh Gardner which is at the top of the game after picking three vital wickets and bring back his team in winning situation.

Well, it was genuinely sad how the match ended. I thought the England women were going to actually show some good heart and try to win this match.

But obviously, you are not going to win a test match if you lose six wickets in 68 runs. Except for Wyatt, no one else was actually able to score. Anything meaningful for the England team. I genuinely thought the England women have a chance. But they proved me wrong. A big win for Australian women by 89 runs in the end.

I thought those who had bet on the England women's team would have a change of emotions throughout the game. They may be happy once England made 463 runs in the first innings, Then when England bowled out Australia for only 257 runs, they would have been very happy and must have thought that they will win the bet on England.
But they never knew that England's batting line up will disappoint them and they won't be able to chase this small target. A disappointing end of the Oval test match for the host nation.

I think it's always good to go with at least one spinner no matter how the wicket is designed. I will emphasize this more in test cricket where the fast bowlers may get tired bowling long spells and a spinner can easily hold the other end of the bowling.

Already the team paid big with the first test match loss due to overconfidence, declaring earlier in the first innings. During the match everything looked like favouring England, but things didn't worked. I am OK with all-pace attack, but the pitch for first test was not suitable for that. England was really missing a quality spinner on the 5th day. Joe Root did a lot of the work, but he was missing any support from the other end. I really hope that this time the pitch is more conductive to seam bowling. However, if the match ends in 3rd day, then the TV rights holders are not going to be happy about it. Already the ECB is looking at declining revenues from TV rights sales, because of declining popularity of cricket in England.

BTW, I don't understand the logic of Nathan Lyon being such an integral member of the Australian team. If they can drop Mitchell Starc, then it is OK to drop Nathan Lyon as well.

@Sithara007 England are trying way too hard and that attacking cricket style of theirs is not allowing them to see the bigger picture and that’s why they lost the first test match and thus I feel that dropping their spin bowlers will be a big mistake even if it suggests that the pitch is friendly for pace bowler’s. Furthermore Nathan could be in line for his 100th successive test match and he could be playing more now because of his experience and ability to get those one or two quick wickets which keeps the pressure on the opposite team.

Just out of curiosity, out of context topic. You are okay with all pace attack, which is fine by me but would you also support the decision if any team goes with full spin attack?

England won the toss and they have actually chosen to bowl first. Really don’t think that was a good idea to be honest. Australia is batting right now and they have only lost two wickets while getting 158 runs. David Warner performed really well in this match. Well at least in the first innings. Australia is currently in a rebuilding stage right now. But both batsmen who are in the middle are set by now. What is interesting is that England has already conceded 16 extra runs.

The English bowlers have to be more disciplined. it is only the second session of the first day. Things already are not looking good for England. They will have to get at least two more wickets before going into the next session. That will bring them back in the match strongly I believe.

Apart from occasional bursts by Josh Tongue, none of the England pacers seems to be capable of troubling the Australian batsmen. Partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith is now worth 82 runs, and it came after David Warner scored a half-century. The match is rapidly slipping out of England's control. Australia may end up somewhere around 350-400 on the first day. And they got Mitchell Starc in place of Scott Boland, so there's going to be a lot of searing pace once the Poms come out to bat.
