Even though I'm an Australian fan, I'm not getting to excited about this result as India can bounce back in the series and what does help India is that they play well at the MCG in recent matches with a draw and they won in 2018 so they can feel a little confident that they can play well in the Boxing Day test match. Also India do have a decent record at the SCG even though most of the matches have ended in a draw between the teams so I'm not sure if we'll see a whitewash as some are saying.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.

One bad session and the match turned upside down for India, i was disappointed with the Aussie first innings but then they surprised me with their bowling and the high profile batting line up was humiliated and their first game with the pink ball turned out to be a disaster.

It's an Indian low scoring records. Win or lose matter less when you are making records.
Jokes aside, it was a low scoring first inning from Australia as well. There are still three more test games left to test these teams. Both of these team to some extent are playing with non regular test players or new players. And they're playing a test match after a long period of time.

Australians never get complacent, and this is their biggest plus point. On the other hand, I suspect that the Indians became overconfident after their got a sizable lead after the first innings. When the came out to bat for the second time, they were probably thinking that only another 190-200 runs are needed and it is going to be a cakewalk. Unfortunately for them, the Australian bowlers had other ideas.

@Sithara007 yes it’s all about the right mindset that Australian player’s had, but the Indian player’s only disappointed by playing in over confidence. Furthermore team India’s batman’s seemed in a hurry to come and return back to the pavilion, and had they added only 250 runs or more, then the end result of this match could have been very different.

It occurred so rapidly, and most humiliation part of Indian Test Innings. That was a superb comeback from Aussies, and Hazlewood strike was fantastic so congratulation on his match winning five wicket haul.

This is becoming a very bad habit, saw this in WC semis, England Test tour and last Australia tour also. They always gets relaxed instead of going for direct kill. Had they taken at least 2 catches in the field then lead should have been close to 125ish runs and not to forget they regularly failed to wrap up the tail. Australian last 3 wickets added crucial 80+ runs with Tim Paine.

News coming in that Shami is ruled out from complete tour due to fracture. This is big blow for bowling camp, may be Siraj should replace him. Can Natarajan make his debut? Would be interesting if he gets the chance despite not playing any warm up games, surprise factor?

From the next match onwards it is going to be worse, since Kohli is not going to be there. I checked the highlights. To my surprise I found out that Cummins and Hazlewood did hardly anything special. They were sticking to good line and length, with the occasional bouncers. But the Indian batsmen found it too tough to handle. Will India lose this series 0-4, as predicted by Michael Vaughan?
I don't think so. I am expecting a draw 2-2 or an Australian win 1-3, but a whitewash seems unlikely. People are jumping to conclusions way too fast just because of one horrible innings.

Indian players made new history. India will lose the match in a very bad way. And I hope they maintain this continuity. They will also lose the next matches successfully. Cheesy Grin
Lol. You clearly are an Indian team hater. Stop acting like you can predict the future. India messed up in the first match, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will translate into a 0-4 whitewash. Underestimating them is pure stupidity.

This is not the first time India scored very few runs in test matches.
Here you can find their record and habit of scoring less than 100 runs in an test innings.

Is 36 runs the lowest total in the test for India only or this is now the lowest total ever in the test history ?  I don't think any team can make less than 36 runs in test match innings  Huh

No, this is not the lowest score in test cricket, still India is at 7th in that list

But look at the years when those scores were scored so we can consider this as the worst test score of modern-day cricket by any team.

Except for the Ireland who scored 38 in 2019 there is no team who have recently been dismissed for so less runs like India did yesterday. That was the biggest surprise in the modern day cricket and its hard to believe.

It is really unfortunate for India that Mohammed Shami will miss the rest of the series, i would like to see Natarajan making his debut and would like to see how he can perform in pitches like this and with his stump to stump line will be challenging. India needs to step up their batting and i hope they will replace Shaw and give Gill the opportunity. With Kohli leaving the series and Shami injured things are not that great for the team.

That was the same match in which England was bowled out for 85 by the Irish bowlers. So we can assume that the pitch was providing a lot of assistance to the pace bowlers (Tim Murtagh took 5 wickets, while Mark Adair and Boyd Rankin got three and two respectively for Ireland. For England, Chris Woakes picked up 6 wickets, while Stuart Broad got 4). But here in this match, the pitch was not giving any such advantage to the bowlers.

Exactly, India need to move their batting line up from skills to experience which is lacking in the top of the order. Having one young along with experienced one can be a good decision but lot of new players in a condition like this will going to get backfire even when you reached comfortable position earlier. Will there be any new players get added to the team due to the injuries?

This news came up just now:

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/india-in-australia/india-vs-australia-shubman-gill-kl-rahul-rishabh-pant-get-ready-for-boxing-day-test-wriddhiman-saha-prithvi-shaw-set-to-be-benched/articleshow/79823981.cms

Wriddhiman Saha and Prithvi Shaw are likely to be dropped for the second match, and they will be replaced in the playing XI by Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. I am OK with Gill being included in the playing XI, but the decision to drop Saha after just one match is perplexing. Rishabh Pant is a promising young player, but he hasn't proved himself in the longer format. Also there are rumors that Mohammed Siraj will be replacing injured pacer Mohammad Shami.

The surprising part is that India played well in first innings and took lead and pitch was still good and not much changed but the way every departed without showing any sign to stand on pitch and just negotiate some overs initially that intent was missing. It was not that extraordinary Oz Bowled but just worst batting and is getting high criticism due to their performance.

Well..... this is the same Australian team, which got destroyed by India three years ago. Back then also, they had the home advantage. So it's not like a david vs goliath battle. Even now, I would say that it is a battle between two teams of equal strength. Australia may be having a slight home advantage, but that is it. I expect India to come back strongly in the second match.

I expect India to come back strongly in the second match.
After the Australian first innings India was having the advantage as they were leading the scoreboard but the second innings was a disaster and full credits goes to Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood who bowled exceptionally well and the Indian batting line up played the same line and length and perished back to the pavilion and it is difficult to return from a disastrous performance as the pressure to perform will be really high and that will not help either.

We will see some big changes in the Indian team in the next match. I hope the new players can prove themselves well. At least they will try their best to play well. All the young players in India are talented enough. But the main thing is that their opponent is the giant Australia. Australia is already a Test specialist team. At home they become more irresistible against any Asian team. I look forward to seeing how India performs in the next Test with the new team.

Two experienced and world class batsmen like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not be in the squad. The Indian team will not be able to fill up this gap. Young players are talented. But they have played on their own field or pitch. How they perform on different pitches in different environments is not yet well tested. Overall, I don't expect India to win the match. The maximum they can draw the match.

This news came up just now:

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/india-in-australia/india-vs-australia-shubman-gill-kl-rahul-rishabh-pant-get-ready-for-boxing-day-test-wriddhiman-saha-prithvi-shaw-set-to-be-benched/articleshow/79823981.cms

Wriddhiman Saha and Prithvi Shaw are likely to be dropped for the second match, and they will be replaced in the playing XI by Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. I am OK with Gill being included in the playing XI, but the decision to drop Saha after just one match is perplexing. Rishabh Pant is a promising young player, but he hasn't proved himself in the longer format. Also there are rumors that Mohammed Siraj will be replacing injured pacer Mohammad Shami.
We will see some big changes in the Indian team in the next match. I hope the new players can prove themselves well. At least they will try their best to play well. lot of young talents available in India but longer format is much more testing than shorter format, even in the first innings India was the better team but they played without an fightback attitude once wicket started to fell in the second innings which maybe stopped if someone experienced and also got talent to hold the wickets by allowing more balls to the keeper.
