Congratulations to our Gilas Pilipinas player, we have our first win in the Asian games.

Well-oiled Gilas trumps Bahrain in Asiad opener

Quote
Gilas opened its Asiad gold medal journey with an 89-61 drubbing of Bahrain Tuesday at the ZJU Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.

That was a big statement from the start, winning by 28 points.
Congrats to our Gilas. Although many are saying that Bahrain isn't a strong team. We're all cheering for them that this win is going to continue but we all know that there's one tough team that's also included in the group.

I've seen some praises for the team, especially for Tim Cone. I think his system is really working for the team, as I've noticed some good plays. They don't force their shots, there's no one-on-one plays; they are sharing the ball well, and everyone is shooting with a high percentage.
This is what many have noticed and sorry but they probably are expecting that there will be a comparison between the past coaching management and how Tim Cone handles this squad. Commended for the coaching staff and of course to our heroes.

I watched the game live until the end and I could that there are still things that need to be done like limiting the turn-overs as we could not afford to have lots of turn-overs against Jordan or even Thailand. Bahrain is not a strong team and their import Wayne Chism is not the player he used to be when he was playing in the PBA as an import, which contributed a lot to Bahrain being blown out by the Gilas team.

Nevertheless, it was a good start, and hope they improve on the TOs in the next game against Thailand on September 28.

They start to practice late and there's unfortunate roster changes so maybe this is the reason why it result to that situation, but still its good start from Gilas since they heavily outscored Bahrain in that sequence. Many expect Gilas to win in this bracket since they dominate this country for the past couple of years the only team I look forward to give them a huge challenge is Jordan but for sure they have a high chance to defeat them and advance on second round. Excited to watch their next game and see if there's improvement will happen and I also love their ball rotation now.

Yup, but what is good here is they still manage to work it out even there are things that still needed to address especially those turnovers that for sure they will discuss after this win, knowing coach Tim he always wants improvement but on my own take with how they play the system, it's better to see all the players inside the court are involved and they are not just relying with someone but more on team game and executing plays are really great with coach Tim and his fellow coaching buddies.

It's good that you saw it live; I just watched the highlights, and it was mostly offensive highlights. What site are you using for streaming? Are there also fellow countrymen streaming it on Facebook? I would love to see their next game as I think it will be more challenging compared to Bahrain.

If this is the same format as FIBA, then we need to win in our bracket to advance to the quarter-finals. The way I see it, I think there's no team in our bracket that is very superior, so we have a chance to advance.

To many facebook live streamers stream live this game earlier so for sure you can watch their next game by easily search the Gilas live today keyword. If I'm also not wrong One sport of TV5 cover this game so you can watch it there.

Just need to take some time to find the right place to watch the game, Facebook live streaming who shares videos may work and will allow you to enjoy supporting the National squad.

I have seen this post that Kyt Jimenez of SMB has signed a contract already with the team. That's good news honestly because I've seen people commenting that he won't be with the team unless the team signs him up. So, with full-stack roster of SMB, the playing time won't matter to him anymore as long as he'll get paid but I am sure that it's still a dream of his to play with the team and contribute to them. It's a 2-year deal which is already a good start for him. While on the FiberXers, three rookies were also signed.

Yeah, there are still two more games in the bracket. We will know if Gilas will remain consistent. Actually, it's not necessary for them to win dominantly, as I don't expect that. A win is a win, so no matter how they win, it's already a success. As of now, I believe no sport that the Philippines is representing has won a gold medal. Hopefully, we will have one soon, as China is still dominating with a large number of medals.

I've seen some praises for the team, especially for Tim Cone. I think his system is really working for the team, as I've noticed some good plays. They don't force their shots, there's no one-on-one plays; they are sharing the ball well, and everyone is shooting with a high percentage.

Coach Chot will probably learn from Coach Tim Cone if their journey here is successful. I'm wondering if we will face the same lineup from China in case Gilas has a chance to play against them.

Good for Kyt if that news is for real then taking a 2-year deal will allow him to play and who knows what will be the next step for him, what is important is for him to play and have that chance to showcase his capabilities, we know that it's a different venue and the level of competition is really high for each rookies who will try their luck to continue playing with the team who draft them.

Looking to see if ever the combination of him and TR7 might work as both have a long time relation as training buddies.

I think that is true because it's been publish in the news already.

Rookie Draft 76th pick Kyt Jimenez signs 2-year pact with SMB

Quote
Online basketball season Kyt Jimenez has signed a two-year PBA rookie deal with San Miguel Beer.

SMB team manager Gee Abanilla said the coaching staff led by Jorge Gallent gave a "good look" at Jimenez in practice and believes "he can really play."

"You know, the coaches spoke to Kyt and really took a good look at him in practice," Abanilla told the Manila Times on Wednesday.

"We know he is an internet sensation, but in fairness to him, he can really play and we see no reason why he can't prove himself in the PBA given the chance."

Two years is enough for him to show his skills in basketball, he is an online sensation, let's see if he can still bring that talent in the PBA.

I don't expect a lot of minutes from a rookie, but we never know, if the coach sees his value to the team, he might earn good minutes.
So the key here is hardwork and chemistry with teammates.

Not every player plays like a superstar during their rookie season, although there are a few exceptions. Some players manage to carry their team right from their rookie season, and good examples are Bollick and CJ Perez. However, is Kyt Jimenez on the same level? If the answer is no, then we shouldn't expect that.

Tomorrow at 11:00 AM, we will witness the 2nd game of Gilas Pilipinas in the Asian Games. Unfortunately, I couldn't find better odds or a spread for this particular game. Perhaps I should check back early tomorrow, but if you have these odds on your sportsbook, could you share them? I might consider placing an early bet if the odds are attractive.

I don't think Kyt Jimenez will play lot of minutes on his rookie year because SMB is loaded with talented guards but the signing itself is a win for the last pick of the recent draft because it is equivalent to money and whenever SMB decide to trade him to a team which need his talent then that would be the time Jimenez will showcase his talent.

Let us remember that TR7 was not used last conference, don't know the reason why but somehow TR7's talent is way up high that than of Kyt.

Probably he wasn't healthy last conference. Now that he's back, he was supposed to play in the Asian Games but faced a protest, so the only chance we'll see him is wearing an SMB uniform again. It's going to be exciting to watch, as JMF has regained his confidence, Romeo is back, and CJ has improved as well, I think. So, aside from Ginebra, I believe SMB will have a good chance of winning a championship. If they don't win, then I guess it's a coaching issue. Let's bring back Austria again.

I think he started playing during the PBA on tour, but it was just exhibition games, not the usual high-energy contests we see during the PBA regular season. With this long break in the league, it gives players like Romeo a chance to rest and fully heal before the regular season starts. Romeo may be past his prime, but he is still entertaining to watch with his crossover moves and impressive 3-point shooting percentage. I still enjoy watching him.

Yup, as long as it's a win that's what matters. And looking at the stats in the Asian games, you're right, there's no gold yet while China is bagging most of it.

Coach Chot will probably learn from Coach Tim Cone if their journey here is successful. I'm wondering if we will face the same lineup from China in case Gilas has a chance to play against them.
They're good friends and worked together during the FIBA world cup so that's not going to be a problem with coach but, let's see how the coaching of Tim Cone will end for this Asiad.

It was real news and there were articles now. While we see him being signed, there have been a lot of draftees who are already in the free agency. LOL. PBA needs more teams to have these talents real contract.

Yes it's true, having that secure contract is already a win for Kyt, knowing that not all of them will have the same opportunity, in terms of playing time it would be depending with how coach will bring him in, though your statement about having lots of loads for that same position possible that Kyt might not gain that long time playing.

If given the chance then better to showcase everything and if ever SMB decided to trade him, that's an opportunity too to bring his game to the next level and prove himself.

Gilas won against Thailand with a score of 87-72. After the win against Bahrain, Gilas is now 2-0. The same standing as Jordan and they're going to face them on Saturday, Sept. 30. Either Gilas or Jodan will have their very first loss against each other for this Asiad. Brownlee did good and it's very visible. CJ Perez also did it. CJ Perez really is a good player and the team can always count on them. They need to rest until Saturday for the preparation against RHJ and Jordan.

The score was very deceptive as we thought that was an easy game for our Gilas team but it is not without a scare. One moment, Thailand led by as much as 10 points due to Tyler Lamb's explosion in the rainbow country, fortunately for Gilas, they answered that with a 15-0 run that give them the slim lead.

Gilas vs Jordan is the match that will test this version of Gilas but TBH, i tapered my expectations as Jordan is a strong team, if i'm not wrong, their roster is intact, i mean those who played in FIBA were the ones also playing in the Asiad.

^^ Consolation for the day, i know that Gilas can't cover that near 30 points spread so i backed Thailand with that high spread.

True, I even thought that Gilas was about to lose this game but good thing that they didn't. Lamb is a good one and Thailand's lucky to have him.

I'm also expecting that it won't be easy for the Gilas because we've seen that Jordan is a good team as well. With this roster, I'm still hoping that they'll be able to beat them.

Let's just say that they aren't really a good team; maybe they're just too lucky with their outside shooting. Lamb and Lish are the players who helped the team, at least to stay close to the Philippines. In the first half, it was Lamb, and in the second half, especially the fourth quarter, it was Lish. What's important is that Gilas won the game; it was a hard-earned victory. So, I guess they are ready to face Jordan in their next scheduled match.

Gilas will have one day of rest, and they will play against Jordan on Saturday. It's good that the game will start at 5:30 PM, not too early like the last two games.

So, Kabayan, let's keep our support strong.

I was wondering what the betting odds would be this Saturday for the Philippines vs. Jordan match.

These two teams have been heavy favorites in their last two matches, so they could be well-matched in the eyes of the bookmakers. I am hoping that the Philippines would be a slight favorite so I can place a bet on the moneyline. You know, it's more thrilling to bet on Gilas when you have very attractive odds.

As for the outcomes of their respective games, I think Jordan has more impressive wins.

So, would you agree that they'll be the favorite? Slight or heavy?

I read some comments on Facebook that this Jordan team is the same team that represented them during the FIBA World Cup, so they will probably be the favorites to win against Gilas Pilipinas. And yes, this is a good opportunity for us. We have been waiting for the Philippines to be the underdog, so we can bet on the moneyline without hesitation. The odds are still not out yet, but for sure, they will be available tomorrow morning since the game will be at 5:30 PM Philippine time.

Wow, decent odd for your handicap Kabayan!

I think it will be a good test for Gilas against Jordan we will see how coach Tim will rotate his squad for sure there are adjustments knowing that scout are also watching the plays, coach Tim and his gang needs to surprise Jordan, we have a competitive squad even it's not all but the replacement also have their competitiveness and I'm sure they will find that combination which may give them the win.

Personally, I will expect something close game between Jordan and our own Gilas. JMF and JBL need to start the charge and bring that spark to the whole squad.
