I think as soon as qora dev posts and investors know he is still on the job price will bounce back to 40-50 sat within 24 hours. Buyers last 24 hours will do well!

Some people were pissed off or afraid of the source code poll. Take a look at current results, gyus. Investors are not crazy. Only 0.0000068% voted for Qora goes open source now: http://coinia.net/qora/blockexplorer.php?q=first+voting+on+the+source&poll

Please vote, Qora people. It's important to know what the community thinks.

Do you really want me to quote your early posts where you said open source and clones help a coin?

so who has changed his view 180 degrees?

They do help. After the coin is established. Like Nxt now. When enough people know about Qora it would work for it just fine to have a few clones.

Take a look at those "fair distribution" Nxt clones: Nem, Node, Nfd, Ntx, Nhz, Nas. Thousands of people got into them in order to receive some cheap coins. During the process they all learnt about the original one - Nxt. Although Nem and Node eventually decided to make original coins. Good for them.

Which is why I see no logical reason not to go open source relatively (1-2 months) soon as it will boost the price, prove that the coin is not a clone (which I think will dog this coin until it does) and any clones will give free advertising to us.

Here's what I think might happen if we leave it too late. All the other new codes coming out in the next 1-3 months will go straight to OS and we will see flood of clones form them or possibly hardly any. Either way the danger is Qora is left behind in the next wave of coins and their possible clones. The most embarrassing thing will be no one clones Qora at all. Plus we had a relatively fair distribution so a NEM type coin wouldn't stand much chance. Kora is a joke, no one will care. Plus clones will have to do a ton of work to get the features in place like Qora has.

I will say it again, the best thing for Qora is the guaranteed features are finished in the next month or so and hopefully and we quickly go OS before other coins flood the market.

People should be wishing some clones get done not trying to stop them. (Shakes head)

Even if the community set a date it would be positive even if the date was in three months time. It shows commitment to the game.

Nobody can predict the future. Qora may become the most famous cryptocurrency tomorrow, then there's no reason not to go open source. Or we may float on the same level for the next 6 months and would need to protect it by keeping the source closed.

From feedback from outsiders to Qora they nearly all say the same thing, it's a clone of NXT and why isn't it OS. Keeping the source closed is way more controversial and unknown than going OS like all other coins do. The risk in my mind is even thinking about keeping it closed. It will piss the bigger community off and alienate Qora.

The core Nxt dev confirmed that Qora is unique and has nothing to do with Nxt. Qora is the next big thing, most of us don't care about some rare fudsters.

Do you mean Jean Luc? Actually he didn't he kept the door open that it COULD be an early version of NXT that then went in a completely different direction. That kind of doubt sowing is all you need for a rumor and rumors are all you need to become a fact on this forum.

And I disagree Qora is the next big thing, it should ALREADY be the big thing now it's been out a few months. The failure to OS is a part responsible I expect.

Can I suggest when Asset Exchange or any big development is implemented a date is given a bit in advance and a bit of marketing however small is done before even if it's just a countdown clock and thread etc. Just throwing out these great features is lost on 99% of the forum.

I think you don't need to reveal sources. But you need to reveal the network protocol and probably db structure.

This will make it possible other devs to create their own infrastructure on top of qora coin. It is more reasonable than revealing full sources to public.

Thanks

Is it normal to get scores of exceptions when starting the server? I've just updated to v13 after a month or so of inactivity, and it seems to be taking a long time to get going.

Examples include:

java.net.SocketException on nonsocket: recv failed
java.io.EOFException
java.lang.Exception: Dishonest peer
java.lang.InterruptedException
INFO: Failed to connect to : /103.21.143..147

Lots of "Failed to connect" with different addresses, but some connections are successful. The wallet says, "No connections", and I hope the balance is out of date.
