For Filipino boxing fans, we have another one who might end up fighter for one of the belt that Inoue will vacated. His name is Vincent Astrolabio.

He won against Nikolai Potapov in the sixth round of their IBF bantamweight elimination.

Quote
The 25-year-old Astrolabio’s victory over Potapov made him the IBF’s mandatory challenger for undefeated, fully unified bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (24-0, 21 KOs). Potapov entered the ring ranked third among the IBF’s 118-pound contenders, three spots atop Astrolabio.

So will face  Emmanuel Rodriguez for the IBF bantamweight belt next.

Some of the remaining fight do in the calendar for this year is similar to that. But next year, January there are good line up already for boxing.
Yeah, the lightweight title seems to be one of the hottest of all as two Garcia's (not related) are trying to snatch it from the Gervonta "Tank" Davis.
But I doubt it will be that easy, the firepower of that dude is crazy, almost like trying to break every skull of his opponents.

Anyway, Ryan Garcia said he will go directly to fight Davis and will cancel the tune-up fight against Filipino fighter Mercito Gesta.
Quote
Golden Boy Promotions representatives confirmed to BoxingScene.com the validity of Garcia's public statement and that his January fight date is no longer in play.
https://www.boxingscene.com/ryan-garcia-opts-go-straight-gervonta-davis-fight-with-mercito-gesta-no-longer-play--171219
So he will be preparing until April if ever Davis wins on January 7.
Quote
“I refuse to do another tune up,” Garcia stated in a separate post. “I’m ready for this moment. In my heart I didn’t want to do that to you guys! We are coming straight for Tank!

So will face  Emmanuel Rodriguez for the IBF bantamweight belt next.

It's interesting that Vincent Astrolabio had promised Manny Pacquiao before the fight that he would give Pacquiao a knockout to Nikolai Potapov as a gift for Pacquiao's 44th birthday, he fulfilled his promise by managing to knock out Nikolai Potapov over Emmanuel Rodriguez in the 6th round to fight Vincent Astrolabio, it will be a very interesting fight, I believe that Vincent Astrolabio can win this fight, I'll wait for more information about the fight, then I'll do analysis and on the day of the fight I'll see who I'll bet on

If there was a boxing match today, I would have bet, I would have made a world cup match multibet, an NBA match and a boxing match, I would have made a good profit, but whatever. for today I can only bet on the world cup and NBA games

An 18 wins 3 losses Filipino boxer I really think his record is not bad and really promising, with 13 KOs in his record that is surely a lot of KO wins, he also defeated Guillermo Rigondeaux where Rigondeaux is down in round 8, for me he doesn't have any bad record and much promising maybe a high chance in getting a belt, but I will leave that on my another verdict when I already watched his highlights because even though I am a Filipino I really don't know him at all, his name doesn't ring a bell at all,

Actually, I was really late when it comes to Filipino boxers still haven't watched some video of his fight but maybe I will give my assessment of him in some of my posts next time, will be very eyes wide open to Vincent Astrolabio this time and will search for some training regime, of his, maybe there are some stream,

Some Upcoming Boxing Schedule that I have seen online,

Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia - Jan. 7: Washington D.C. (Showtime PPV)

Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde - Jan. 28: London (ESPN+)

Jermell Charlo vs. Tim Tszyu - Jan 28: Las Vegas (Showtime)

It looks like Butler doesn't want to be left behind, after the beatings he received from Inoue, it looks like Butler is asking for more.  I watched some clips on youtube[1] and it stated Butler planned to leave his weight division and possibly will go up in weight division.  So Butler planned to mix it up again against Inoue, and Casimero if ever he goes up in weight division.

While Casimero after his fight against Akaho is now ranked 3rd by boxingrec.com. So it is possible to have a title fight for Casimero soon.

While Casimero after his fight against Akaho is now ranked 3rd by boxingrec.com. So it is possible to have a title fight for Casimero soon.

Not soon but I think Casimero will surely face a strong opponent next that is at least on the good rank of those 4 well-known boxing organizations.

The rankings that should we refer to are those on the list of those big organizations; WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO.

Although not updated yet, I think Casimero is not on Rank 3 yet at least on this 1 organization. Someone can correct me on this. The possible title match for Casimero should be based on the rankings given by these big organizations I have mentioned.

[1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFOXs8yuQNg

It seems that the brawl that John Riel Casimero brought to Akaho was pretty much effective and has gotten praise from many who watch this is really a bad image to Ryo Akaho, the referee, and the promoter of the event for Akaho he was now dubbed as the best acting boxer and needs praises to his acting performance, and the Promoters to their bias judgment in their fellow Japanese boxers, that is why even though John Riel Casimero didn't get the belt I think another title shot has given to him so expect a great fight again in his stead,

We will have a long break from boxing because of the holiday season, I think that there will be fights that I have missed but I think the not-so-well-known fight is really not worth watching anyway but what I am after was the fight between Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia but surely I am for Gervonta Davis on this for sure the odds will surely pour into Gervonta as well, for me Ryan Garcia will be the best match for him but if Ryan Garcia's cherry-picked fight was for the preparation for Davis then  there is a high possibility that this is a hand-picked fight,

Very difficult in the case of Butler and any fighter at 118-122 lbs. At 118 lbs, there could still be Donaire and other Filipinos too in contention for a world belt. But if he chooses to go up, then his old nemesis in Casimero and Inoue is waiting as well.

So he is in on man's land, but I guess if his body can't make the 118 lbs like Inoue, he has no option but to move up, fight contenders and see if he will have a chance to fight for a world title belt again.

Some Upcoming Boxing Schedule that I have seen online,

Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia - Jan. 7: Washington D.C. (Showtime PPV)

I intend to bet on this Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia, Tank Davis has not fought for almost a year, that's a lot of months, so he may not be strong in terms of fighting, maybe just training will put him in good shape, but it's very different from being always fight, I hope this is not a problem for him at the time of the fight, I intend to bet on him, I don't see him losing in this fight

his opponent Hector Luis Garcia will have a lot of difficulties in this fight, he will have to prepare very well if he wants to avoid defeat, I believe that the bookmakers will put Tank as a favorite to win this fight and it's no wonder, the guy is strong, he knocked all of his opponents out of the 27 he faced, only 2 he didn't knock

As a new tradition, Japan will always have a title fight prior to the new year. This time it is Kazuto Ioka who will unify his WBO belt against WBA champion Joshua Franco. Kazuto Ioka is fresh from his revenge over former champion Donnie Nietes. I already have my bet on Ioka since last week. He is the first Japanese 4-division world champion and IIRC, his Japanese record of winning a world title in the fewest fights was broken by Naoya Inoue. Now Inoue is also wanting to tie Ioka's 4 division titles.

On January 6 prior to the Tank Davis fight, a double-header happens in Japan. IBF champion Daniel Valladares of Mexico travels to Japan to defend his belt against local hero Ginjiro Shigeoka. In the other title fight, the Japanese champion WBO Masataka Taniguchi will defend his belt against the Filipino Melvin Jerusalem. Hopefully, upsets happen. The Philippines do not have a world boxing champion right now which is unusual.

I'm not familiar with Melvin Jerusalem, but this is what we wanted though, unheard names from the Philippines that can pull an upset in Japan.

We've seen Filipinos and other nationalities traveling around and defeating the champion in their home soil. Casimero, another Filipino is a classic example and hopefull if Jerusalem can do that, will be the saving grace for Filipino boxing right now as you have said, they don't have any champions.

Ioka vs Franco should be very tight fight, but Ioka has the experience and the momentum now.

We don't have any belt but like you I'm also aiming to see an upset here, I don't know how Jerusalem fought but if he can win this fight, then it will be a good honor for the country, Philippines is a well-known country who contributed to this sport, we build and established legends but as for this moment, we are hoping for another new champ to bring the flag up.

No guarantee, but it's worth waiting, if how Jerusalem will manage to try winning a world title.

Well, it has resulted now! The Philippines' lack of support from the boxing industry just slapped us with a hard reality that talent alone might not be enough to conquer this sport, but it needs full support from the government and from the people.
I've seen we have a lot of support from basketball, when in reality we are still far from being recognized in the international stage.
Pacquiao was very lucky to have the perfect talent in boxing. Without his early success, he might not be able to sustain it and become one of the greatest to ever step in the ring.

It is surely different when a fighter is up fighting in the ring than having his training or Sparring, but there are some boxers including their Sparring matches as good as a fight inside the ring, I think Gervonta Davis even without a fight within a year, I think he is having good sparring partners this whole time, and as good as a fight inside the ring sparring fights with different professional boxer can also gain great experience for the boxer, whenever it is hard sparring or a light sparring, and if a boxer got many Sparring session than with his fight inside a ring I think it could also help in gaining experience,

Melvin Jerusalem is a great name I think he got 5 amateur fights and got 21 professional fights 11 of they are KOed finished, and getting the fight done at the young age of 28  years old, for me Melvin Jerusalem qualifies as fighting whoever he wants to fight, a great foundation of this was his pro fight wins it was a great achievement but I really don't know If I will bet for him because I haven't check his opponent yet,

Is this correct? The Philippines currently holds no boxing championship at all? This is one of those things that seems completely unbelievable, now it possible this is just bad luck but it is still impressive, because the success of Pacquiao was so incredible that I am sure that many young people at Philippines have tried to emulate him, so I would guess there are a lot of people wanting to become professional boxers, so even if bad luck was involved there must be something else at work as well, and most likely a lack of support for the sport could be the most likely explanation for what it is happening.

My prediction for Inoue for the year 2023. He will wait for Stephen Fulton to unite all of the championships in super bantamweight before Inoue will challenge Fulton, however, if he does not do this, Inoue will do it for him hehehe. Inoue will challenge Akhmadaliev first and win the IBF and WBA championships then challenge Stephen Fulton for the WBC and WBO champioships. He will leave bantamweight because there is nothing more to prove and there is nothing more to earn. Bigger challenge and bigger money is on Inoue vs. Fulton.

Are you ready boxing fans?

I heard some news that Inoue won't be moving up in division unless it is a title fight against either Fulton or Akhmadaliev.  According to this YT video, Inoue will be staying in his current division ready to depend his title, which can possibly give way to one of the Filipino boxer Astrolabio to have a shot on the title fight since the Filipino become rank 3 on IBF after he defeats Nikolai Potapov via 6th round KO.

With this statement of Inoue, some of the Filipino boxing fans thinks that Inoue is avoiding Casimero because if he grinds for ranking after he goes up in weight division, there is a possibility for Inoue to fight Casimero. While going straight to a title fight will definitely evade a fight against Casimero.

Maybe he can be a champion but Casimero will always be his tough challenger and the time will come when he will have no choice but to fight him. If he will evade Casimero, not only the Filipino fans will think that he is afraid of him but the whole boxing community, so if he has the pride of a champion, he needs to take the challenge of Casimero.

I don't see any news or articles said if Inoue is avoiding to fight with Casimero, maybe it's just your speculation. Well Inoue will not scared with anyone, as long as he's not fight with an undisputed champion, he wouldn't avoid to fight with any boxer. Maybe Inoue think there's no reason to fight with a boxer who doesn't have any belt since it's wasting his time, it depends on each boxer if he want to "warm up" first or directly fight with a champion.

In the other title fight, the Japanese champion WBO Masataka Taniguchi will defend his belt against the Filipino Melvin Jerusalem. Hopefully, upsets happen. The Philippines do not have a world boxing champion right now which is unusual.

Source: https://box.live/upcoming-fights-schedule/

It so happen that all the belts that we have are all being stripped either our champ got defeated or the belt being stripped because of failure to sustained the weight that needs to be sustained, though I can still see potential or promising fighters who are really looking forward to rebuild our pride but I will agree that support or recognition of this sport is also needed, government should look at it and start developing new sets of breed who can follow Pacquiao and Donaire's steps.
