I can confirm this; I have 115 MH/s worker asking 0.0003/share, which has been working offline since yesterday.
whoa. 0.0003? you sure it's not 0.00003? but damn, the price drops so low now, lol. lol hes right you need to add a zero to that - .0003 is really high dude - I dont think your ever going to get that per share

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security. Read all about it here: http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/ Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

UpdateWell as you can see we tried to run purchases this morning but the additional load plus more and more miners coming online has maxed out the write speed of our current hardware. The good news is that new servers are being adding to the cluster as I type but takes time to get online. In the meantime offline mining causes no issues to the system so we are going to suspend purchases until these new servers are online. For those that have a purchase in the system, we can either refund your purchase or just let it sit in the system and ready to go when we turn back on purchases. Please email support@gpumax.com if you wish to receive a refund. Thanks,

I know, that's why I mentioned a ramdisk (although not in so many words) SSD FTW. They rock for high speed databases.

And really, if you use 4GB sticks of the cheapest ram you can find, a 1TB Ramdisk can be had for just $4,600!

Then it's not because you still need to write it out to disk at some point. I believe the goal here is continuous operation, not large buffers so it only has to shut down to flush the buffers once a day.

Just have a decent sized battery backup on the 1TB array (enough to where it could write all data to disk in the event of a power outage), and write a snapshot to disk every so often while it is running.

The demand we've seen has grow exponentially since we started and has been really hard to manage the hardware and software backend. This new setup provides almost instant scaling and optimum performance. I know we've been in beta for a while but we want the system to work like a well oiled machine and can't do it without trying everything.
A big thanks goes to Softlayer, they have been more than helpful in getting everything we need and their network is bar none the best I have ever worked with.
It's coming guys, we're working as fast as possible.

I miss those ISA (!!!) cards that would take DRAM and create ephemeral storage. I wonder if those still exist or if everyone has gone down the MLC/SLC SSD route such as FusionIO for performance. For best overall, you'd have a RAMdisk pool with journalling to a high-speed SSD over a PCIe/Quad Infiniband/FC/etc. bus with replication to persistent media managed by another controller. Of course, you're still putting the SSD in the equation, which I only do at the workstation level in RAID 1 or 10 config, or as a cache for a larger spindle pool. The failure rate is still too high for the capital and infrastructure commitment. Here: http://www.violin-memory.com/

Gigabyte did their i-RAM drive a few years back that took DDR ram on a pci slot board for that purpose don't know if they ever continued on with newer variants though. And I believe it is OCZ that now makes SSD HD boards with a PCI-e interface you can get, RevoDrive I think they are called.

So it sounds like our miners are working offline mostly during this server downtime? My workers don't seem to get any more or less leased work (when leased work is available at all) when I adjust the price. Usually on I good day I'll get 90-95% of my shares leased at whatever price I ask (under .0005 of course), but these last couple days haven't provided much leased work. Looking forward to the new servers coming online though Keep up the good work pirate! I'm glad to hear there isn't a shortage of purchases too! You contradicted yourself with the following 2 statements: 1: but these last couple days haven't provided much leased work. 2: I'm glad to hear there isn't a shortage of purchases too -- if there is not much leased work, there is a shortage of purchases. Don't recall contradicting myself anywhere. 1: little or no leased work would likely mean one of two things: a server downtime/issue at GPUmax, or a shortage of purchases; pirate has now clarified that this was a server issue 2: pirate never said there was a shortage of purchases, only he was suspending them until the disk overload issue is solved. So, I will restate, I am glad to hear there is no shortage of purchases; it is unfortunate that they are temporarily suspended however, but that will only mean lots of leased work once they have been resumed. I can confirm this; I have 115 MH/s worker asking 0.0003/share, which has been working offline since yesterday.

(And for the record, I don't typically ask for that little, I have a single 115MH/s miner which is my "control", so I can tell if PPS drops significantly, or if there just isn't any leased work available for whatever reason)

I looked a lot into the options when building my server, as I needed lots of iops for my purposes. SSD's have all but killed them though. I did use a 16GB ramdisk until my server outgrew it, then I was forced to switch back to SSDs. The virtual disk solutions are too dated and expensive at this point.
