No one know some will want to have just one others 1001
Most will be good with 100 in 20 years price might be high enough for all

Yeah definitely our life style is an important factor on deciding the retirement amount then only we can decide how much We need for retirement. But here the actual prediction would be the price of bitcoin approximately on your retirement age. If you have more than enough bitcoins on your retirement you can lead a lavish lifestyle as a multi millionaire Wink

For most people, if you want to retire in 30 years, 1 to 10 bitcoin is more than enough to live happily.

No 1 - 10 Bitcoin was so little right now, you should to have more than that money was very easy to spend if you retire with 1 - 10 bitcoin this will not compensate all your needs and wants.

Such a difficult question because we do not even now it will be here in 20 years however much i would like it to be  Undecided (it will be here)  Grin

I would go with a guess of around 300 - 500 btc  at 1000+ being the bottom if it is still here i think that will be a nice retirement if yo already have home paid for etc

I will be happy with a few hundred and some gold and or silver.

If the price keeps rising the same way it is now for the next 20 years then even 1 bitcoin would do you through retirement.  That won't be the case obviously but it's nice to dream.

Well, it's hard to predict how many bitcoins for retire on the next 20 years, because we also need to calculate the inflation in your country, maybe i need bitcoins around 50-200 bitcoins.

It also depends on what will be the price of bitcoin after 20 years, if price goes lower then we need to hold huge number of coins, and if price goes in millions then even 10 btc can take care off.

After few years bitcoin price maybe $5000 or already replaced by other currency.
even if the price of bitcoin is 5000$ still not enough to replace the other currencies we all know,
if we accept bitcoin as a currency, bitcoin must have a fixed price.
The price will always be not the reason to replace other currency  but the value of the a certain currency, the value where we can benefit from using it and can beat the features of other currencies, with bitcoins we can transact fast and safe, the charges is really minimal and that is one of the essentials of bitcoin that is worth patronizing for.
Easy. Nobody has any idea what the price of a bitcoin will be in 20 years. I think it is more likely to be $0 than $1,000,000, and much more likely to be $100 or $10,000. It is easier to just assume it will be whatever price it is now. So, ...

1. Decide how much money you need to live comfortably: $1,000,000.
2. Divide by the current price: $600
3. You need about 2000 BTC.

2000 btc is a huge amount and everyone cannot afford to hold that high amount, and it also depends on in which country you are living in, its better to hold descent amount of coins.

$5000, i think he is not talking about 5000 BTC. But if he is telling that 5000 BTC, so it is too much biggest amount. i think no one have this amount of bitcoins in Bitcointalk.
For me reasonable bitcoin 1000 Bitcoin is enough but we are saving for 20 years, it is long time period, if we save now 100 Bitcoin in this time i m sure it is also enough amount for 20 years.

It depends on your level of living. Your living standard depends on your expenditures that incur per month, so you can calculate that how much will you need until you die, and then just multiply that amount with bitcoins based on its price, and you will get the real picture.

You would need a lot of bitcoins to do this and I even think its not possible because the future of the bitcoin is unpredictable.
As a example the price can collapse and than 100 btc is nothing anymore..

100 btc is good amount to hold and if you really work hard on it then in future you can surely hold that amount, but the fact is we  don't know what will be the price of bitcoin after 20 years.

Right depends on the needs and expenses in your country. Maybe if you live in NY you might not be able to survive with 50 bitcoins for a long time. I think you should have this much bitcoin : expenses in a month ( in $ )  x 20 / 1000 , this much bitcoins.

I never really thought of it that way, but that is definitely true. If you live in a third world country, then you could probably buy a house for much cheaper than a house in a first world country.

That's correct and it depends on two major factor, where you are living and what will be the price of bitcoin in future, but its always good to hold more number of coins.

For me and many others who are in the US at the current price that bitcoin is at we would need at least 400 btc to be able to afford things in the later years of retirement. Medical bills and senior citizen homes will take a big part of that money. I'd venture to day 1000 btc would be more ideal.

Well you are right but for me, I guess 50-100 btc is not enough depends on the price of bitcoin that time. I would say that 1,000 btc for is enough to survive in the retirement of 20 years. And as the time goes by, price of bitcoin is going to increase and that's going to be an advantage for me.
And it can sustain my needs for the cover years.
