Someone is doing some profit taking
The nature of the CLAMs distribution is interesting in that periodic claiming and dumping can be expected as new users becomes aware. Some of these, like this most recent one, are likely to be of reasonable size. I would expect the frequency of these to decrease as time goes on. Claim inflation is unique in that it is unpredictable and can come in fits-and-starts. I think this provides a unique opportunity (and associated risk) for those willing to play the inevitable swings in the market.

Due to recently discovering that one of the exchanges listing CLAM is owned by GAW, and in light of recent rumors of corruption, fraud, and illegality associated with GAW, it has been decided to remove the Coin-Swap exchange from the OP post.
I noticed that too on coin-swap site itself, there is a news alert about it. Im a bit worry about it, because I got some doges and other coins there A few days ago, the wallet status of the coin I was going to withdraw was having block delayed and still is, and a few other wallets are having non-healthy status would it be best to sell em at market price and then withdraw bitcoin or just withdraw all coins raw? has anyone managed to withdraw any coin successfully from coin-swap in the last couple days? It appears coin-swap is now essentially non-functional.

Anyway, this morning's 8 deposits move a total of 11500 CLAM to poloniex, and so far only around 5500 CLAM has been dumped: https://i.imgur.com/4Zckag3.pngSo I figure there's another 6000 CLAM waiting to be dumped. It's like I'm psychic or something! 5400 CLAM dumped this morning: It'd be nice to know for sure the time frames, though. Then we can sell at the top and buy at the bottom, :p.

While clam is a nice idea the dev certainly had the opportunity to set up thousands of doge or ltc wallets with the minimum required amount before launch to make sure he's got a nice bag.

So how do these sell-offs affect the network weight and the rate of staking? Am I to understand Poloniex will continue the staking process? Sorry if stupid questions. /s/

Sorry if stupid questions. /s/ Before the sell-off, the seller was staking. During the sell-off, the coins were on poloniex, not being staked. After the sell-off, most of the coins were invested in the JD bankroll, and so are staking again. Net result: network weight unchanged?

Someone is doing some profit taking
He was stacking and hoping for a better price and now he decided to sell, maybe the relative higher price of clam pushed him to this decision. He would have get a better deal off the market but those are not easy to get.

If you are a CLAM faucet user you might consider book marketing www.Clamfaucets.com (or www.ClamcoinFaucets.com... both are the same.) More faucets coming! Sorry for the AD's but most of the ad rev will be converted into BTC and then market orders into CLAM!

Can someone please tell me the exact mechanics on the block generation with ones coins, mainly explaining how sometimes a share is generated without a split and other times it is split?
I have not seen a block generated without a split before, and then I see it in clamcoin, and I thought it was wonderful, then later it split. The process was split initial coin, each initial split was not split with coin gens, then those same coins split later with coin gens. A bit confusing.

Clams added to shapeshift!!
Indeed!
Added ShapeShift.io to the OP post. They offer instant, no account, conversion between different crypto coins. We hope everyone welcomes ShapeShift.io to the CLAM family

They likely stored tens of thousands of clams.

Or maybe they watched each other somehow to verify none of them were building many addresses so it was hard for any of them to create too many addresses to profit.

I could, but it would be long and confusing because it has changed so many times. If you use the current 1.4.10 release you can put: splitsize=10.37 in your clam.conf file and it will split the stake reward into multiple 10.37 CLAM outputs if the output you're staking is bigger than twice that size, and will leave it alone if it isn't. So if you never want any splitting, just use: splitsize=9999999 If you don't specify splitsize at all, it will split your staked output into two roughly equal parts if the output took less than 24 hours to stake. The idea being that if an output stakes that quickly it's probably too big and would stake more efficiently in future if it was split. There's also this option: combinelimit=10.37 That does the opposite, and pulls in extra outputs when staking to make bigger a bigger output, but it won't exceed that combinelimit in size. I set them both to the same, so my big outputs get split into 10.37's, and my small outputs get grouped into 10.37's, and I end up with everything being around the same size without having to do it myself. But as I say, it used to be different in other versions. See https://github.com/nochowderforyou/clams/releases for a list of recent changes. The process was split initial coin, each initial split was not split with coin gens, then those same coins split later with coin gens. A bit confusing.
So like this? 95 -> 48 + 48 48 -> 49 48 -> 49 49 -> 25 + 25 49 -> 25 + 25 Like I say, the default behaviour is to split only if the stake took less than 24 hours which is a random process. So whether outputs are split or not depends on how lucky you are at staking.
