What is the conversion rate from BTC, LTC & DOGE to CLAM? In other words, how many CLAMs do you get for your BTC, LTC & DOGE? Was scanning & searching the thread but missed it.

I'll do market for market.

So for example with DOGE I use Crytpsy bid price and Polo ask price.

I'm in Just-dice.com chat box generally.

https://FreeBitcoins.com/faucet/ - Load your AltQuick exchange account with free Bitcoins & Testnet every 10 minutes.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

There is no direct conversion.

It doesn't matter how many btc/ltc of doge you had.  An address with 1M btc would get the same ~4.6 CLAM's as an address with .0001 btc. Any address that was over dust for the respective coin (.0001 for ltc and btc, .1 for doge) were all given the same amount.

Unless you mean current trading value, then of course, there is a conversion as BAC said

Gotcha, thanks. I meant the first part, not the trading rate.

The challenge for every POS coin is getting people to use/buy&sell the coin rather than just hoarding it in a wallet. With a 1% house edge JD allows quite a bit of fluidity - some people will cash out coins, others will buy to play - it's win-win.

One of the major "risks" with CLAM would be that nobody digs them up and a limited supply could dry up. We NEED lots of CLAMs to be dug up for the long-term future of the coin. Even if that means temporary dips in the market price Wink

I agree with you that there needs to be more clams dug up. Maybe changing it to award 2-3 people 1 clam every minute or let it scale to something like difficulty. THere should never be a machine though thats able to generate clams like sha256 or other altcoin algorithms. Unique coins like POS is what the altcoin industry needs since everything else is just copies

I don't think changing the award would be a good idea. The coin just needs to be more used, the current price makes it likely that a lot more clams will be dug up.

Okay, I'm not buying Just Dice as the reason for the CLAM price growth. Who even uses that site? The main CLAM site is a random Wordpress theme with pictures that don't even match the branding of the coin (looks to just be the default theme pics).

Welcome to the CLAM thread.

The CLAM website isn't run on WordPress.... it is run on Ghost.
We are volunteers; if you believe you can create a better website, we more than welcome your contribution.

I don't personally pretend to have a crystal-ball that can predict nor explain markets.
However, the answer to: "Who even uses that site?" is likely a rather long answer.
Just-Dice has a long history of large bank-rolls and met obligations.

More detail than the above, will likely have to be discovered and researched by yourself.

Check the balance of CLAM address [xJDCLAMZ] (if you can - I don't know of a good way, but would like to)

It currently has 137,935 CLAMs.

The Just-Dice wallet currently shows:

$ clamd getstakinginfo | grep -e weight -e expect
    "weight" : 125057.90652447,
    "netstakeweight" : 169232.88858409,
    "expectedtime" : 99

ie. it has 125k of the total network weight of 169k.

If you put your CLAMs in the Just-Dice bankroll you get a share of the staking rewards. The site wallet has staked 3544 blocks since it started holding CLAMs less than a week ago.

Maybe you need to revise your purchasing decision.

If you use the bootstrap.dat file, it doesn't need to sync since all the blocks are in the file. Are you sure you used the bootstrap.dat file? You need to put it in your CLAM data folder - the same place as your CLAM wallet.dat, then restart the client.

I remember this coin has a raffle aspect. What are the parameters of this? Thanks!

You are referring to the CLAMlottery.

It is no longer underway, the reward per block is a static 1 CLAM per block now.
Which, given current difficulty works out to something like 1% per day if you are efficient.

IMHO these ALTS have already cost the community enough in terms of diverting time and resources from Bitcoin.

Can't wait for the Sidechains to make all this foolishness go away.

Why would the sidechain make it go away?

CLAM actually has a use now because you can play or invest in just-dice. Most people that were involved in Bitcoin in May have some. But the price will likely fall back to 0.001 because there are millions of CLAM that will arrive to the market and will be exchange for valuable bitcoins.
