Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

CLAMs v1.4.11 Release:
Nice.

Which commit was this built from? We should move the release tag, since it's almost certainly currently in the wrong place.

Also, OP still links to:

  CLAMs v. 1.4.10 TEST-Build

and

  CLAMs v. 1.4.7 STABLE

It's going to be impossible for people to guess which of 1.4.7 (stable), 1.4.10 (test), or 1.4.11 (unlabelled) to download.

Good eye as always Doog.

I watched some folks get pwned the other day on a coin I was helping do the escrow on.

Here is an example of why not to DL from anything besides the OP.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1041025.msg11351856#msg11351856

Ouch. He quoted and edited a post by the coin's developer, changing the link to a viral version of the Viral client.

Of course, even if you only download from the OP post, you're still at the mercy of the OP. If she's evil, she too can steal all your coins - not just the ones in that particular wallet.

Frankly, the entire OP post needs to be cleaned up.

That being said, I removed the links to 1.4.7 as it likely shouldn't have been listed as the most recent Stable version anymore anyways.

I am not aware of any major issues with 1.4.10 and thus marked it as "stable".

After 1.4.11 has been in-the-wild for a short period of time, we should get 1.4.11 marked as "stable" and remove 1.4.10.
That should clear up the confusion.

For the time being, however, I have listed 1.4.11 as "test" and 1.4.10 as "stable".

VOTE FOR

Vote for Clams to be added at Coinomat.com https://coinomat.com/coinvoting.php
Coinomat.com offers bank transfers, withdrawals to Visa/Master cards, and custom debit cards for all the cryptocurrencies on its platform.
On top of that, instant exchanges to all supported cryptocurrencies and e-currencies are available.

Coinomat.com pioneered instant crypto to crypto exchange in 2013 and now also offers various crypto to fiat solutions to provide additional liquidity for supported cryptocurrencies. Coinomat was the first project to offer this and it will always remain our top priority.

Normally, to withdraw to a bank account you need someone to send you the funds from their local bank, so it can be a problem if there aren't many local exchanges happening. Traditionally, transfer costs are a hassle, can cost up to 3% of the amount and take 2-3 business days.

With Coinomat you can easily send funds to any Visa or Master card in the world instantly, with no wait time.

Various fiat exchange features:

- Instant exchanges to all other cryptos on our platform.

- Withdrawal to any Visa or Master card issued by any bank in the world.

*This is a great way to provide your coin with liquidity, especially for users who live in the countries with less crypto exposure.

Crypto purchasing and selling with bank transfer

If you need to buy altcoins with bank transfers it can be a real problem and there arn't a lot of providers out there. We enable our users to load their Coinomat account with a bank transfer and buy any coin we support. To mitigate volatility effects, first the account is credited and only after that, a user can purchase the crypto of his choice.
Transfers from most countries are accepted (except for US)

Withdrawal to a custom bank card

We offer custom debit cards which can be loaded with cryptocurrency and work in ATM's all over the world. Card costs $40 and are delivered within a week after successful order (users need to provide Personal ID and Proof of residence). The card is not tied to a personal bank account and works more like stored value card. After the card is delivered, a user is able to load it from their Coinomat account.

Offering these services, we cover basically all major ways to buy and sell your crypto. Liquidity is what the cryptocurrency scene is lacking at the moment, and providing more fiat liquidity can be a great popularity booster for Bitshares.

Head over to our voting page and get things started!

And if you aren't, you can go to just-dice.com and type /supply in the chat box. It will tell you lots of information. The part in bold is what you are asking for:

Quote
09:44:17 INFO: 68,934 of 3,208,032 sets of 4.60545574 CLAM were dug up so far from the initial distribution
09:44:17 INFO: 317,472 CLAM were dug up and 372,772 CLAM were staked for a total of 690,244 CLAM
09:44:17 INFO: Just-Dice's onsite bankroll of 504,953 CLAM represents 73.16% of that amount
09:44:17 INFO: if all the distributed CLAMs were dug up, the total money supply would be 15,147,173 CLAM

How could be 24,016,858 CLAMs declared offsite if most of  all those CLAMs was never dug up or staked?
(considering a total of 690,244 CLAM was dug up and staked)

And if you aren't, you can go to just-dice.com and type /supply in the chat box. It will tell you lots of information. The part in bold is what you are asking for:

Quote
09:44:17 INFO: 68,934 of 3,208,032 sets of 4.60545574 CLAM were dug up so far from the initial distribution

Leverage.

Check the FAQ on Just-dice or their Bitcointalk thread.  I believe there is actually two Bitcointalk threads for JD.

That way if you want to invest 100BTC worth of CLAMS into Just-dice, but don't want to run the risk actually holding that many CLAMS you can just buy 1BTC worth and leverage it 100x.

It was originally put in place to help decentralize CLAM, but surprise surprise degens goin degen.

I had a really funny thought last night... I think it would be interesting if Doog hired Lawsky once Lawsky gets his consulting business up. LOL

Hi!

Just learning about Clams and my Win wallet is still synching.  I see that if you had a BTC/LTC/DOGE wallet May 12 2014, you should be able to obtain free coins.  I just started with crypto-coins July 2014 (BTC), so that doesn't apply to me.  I've a couple questions:

1) Can I still get a free startup stake of coins somehow?

2) Is there a multipool I can apply SHA-256 to and be paid out in Clams?

Thanks!  Smiley

BTW -- My wallet reports having 36 active connections, and yet sync has been sitting at 13 weeks behind for several hours now, is that normal?  (Just restarted using the list of nodes on page one as a "clam.conf" file, hope I don't get hung at 13 weeks behind again.)

PS. Just registered with the faucet!

Happily, Wallet sync is now advancing again, however, it's clear the original giveaway doesn't apply to me, far too late -- no free Clams.

I see references to a Clams Multipool and it supposedly support mining with at least Scrypt and X11 (per August 2014).  Can't find this or any other Clam mining pool.  Where are they?
