Development update

The pruning testing has gone well with no major problems reported. I will wait for testing to continue for several more days while looking into the idea of explicitly blocking older wallets from trying to restore from a pruned node.

The next major item is to be the GUI integration, which I spent some time on a while back, but put on hold to finish up pruning. I'm resuming that now.

In addition I have an additional anonymity improvement to release, which will probably come with the official pruning version. Already my opinion is that obscure little AEON has the soundest implementation of anonymity of all cryptocurrencies, with the new improvement it will be even better.

I'm also taking steps to address the mining decentralization, which I will be announcing soon.

As always feedback, suggestions, offers of assistance, donations (especially via donation mining which also helps decentralize the network), criticism, and encouragement are welcome.

I'm working on a non-profit charitable entity structure, planning to use crypto, with another private group that is in early stages of development. A lot of details to iron out in the foreseeable future. Aeon looking like a good candidate network, keep it rolling!!

well tickle me curious! Is this regarding the current network's pool dominance, or an overarching fix to mining centralization???

I used Boost 1.59 for the aeon-light test binaries. Should we expect trouble anytime we switch between binaries that were compiled on different Boost versions? 
If that's the case, I'd appreciate some official direction as to what version to use, so that I'd always use the same as anyone that will produce official binaries, thus preventing similar complications in the future.

I'm not sure, as I was only vaguely aware of this issue, and the boost documentation is rather poor. Looking in the release notes, I see nothing about version incompatibility since 1.45, which is quite old (none of the AEON builds would have used something older than that right?):

So I don't see a good reason for the "unsupported version" failure to occur at all. Maybe there is another explanation.

Still, let's get Arux to report on the boost version being used for the official Windows builds and people can try to use the same version for unofficial builds as well.

So I had a moment to run 0.9.3.0, and it used up ~4.1Gb on my Win-8 box, while 0.9.2.0 used up 4.25Gb, which contrasts with your findings. This was not strictly 0.9.2.0 in my case, it was the light-node version running in archive mode (full node). I don't think small differences can be taken as representation of anything much, since these look to vary along with the network conditions, transaction pool, etc.

Perhaps keep an eye on memory usage and see if it settles at some lower amount eventually?

I'm back on testing with just the light-node though, seeing as that is the 1st major release on the horizon (and just 2.6Gb of memory usage is also neat)    Thank you everyone for the feedback btw!

It does have bcmemreduce (as did 0.9.2.0) but not pruning. There is no change in memory usage from 0.9.2.0.

The memory usage reported by the OS is somewhat unreliable, so you will get a range of numbers depending on other activity on the system, previous activity since reboot, etc. Also as myagui pointed out there can be some changes in network conditions.

I don't believe  this release contains the bmreduce and pruning features. If you're not cpu mining, I'd skip and wait til the next release.

Important - network issue

There is some issue with mooo's pool being forked off the network. It seems to be related to a transaction created by the pool, and may be related to one of the updates but we are still investigating. Wallet (deposit/withdrawal) at Bittrex is frozen for the time being and I recommend that you do not engage in other transactions until the problem is diagnosed.

I pulled release 0.9.3.0 for the time being as it seems Mooo had just upgraded his pool when the problem occurred. I don't have a reason why the bug fix would have cause this problem but in any case this seems prudent.

Please do not use 0.9.3.0 at this time and stick with one of the earlier releases.

Mooo is attempting to restart his pool using an earlier version.

Hi, my pool is currently unable to mine. Not sure exactly what's going on, the daemon rejects mined blocks, even though I've reverted blockchain and daemon to earlier versions.

Anyhow I have converted to my R410 server to ubuntu in anticipation of running a pool. I'm wondering if any of you could give or have a "grocery list" of prerequisites, libs, and tools for most of the things we do. I don't want to do them individually as I go when I need them (frustrating), for miners and wallets etc... done it last year but all those machines are running and I have long forgotten.

I bet some of you have a list like that for fresh installs, I hope . Thanks in advance  

...btw once I get my pool up I'll run a week for donation while I tune it and tweak it ( 3 gpu's and 7 cpu's   ) I dig this project and all of you here.

I also can't seem to locate the git for non-AES-NI for cryptonight-lite miner. The one I built from git was for AES-NI only. And the other was a readme file only. Can someone point me right direction , thanks.
